Traitors
Caleb dragged the women into the house—careful to watch as Stella tried to heal them.
"The baby is taking a lot out of me," Stella admitted, "Go! I've got them."
Caleb took one last glance at his mate and her sisters, happy that Sarai had joined them in case her sisters were traitors.
Sven, Lonnie, and Caleb joined the others to fight off the witches—there were so many. So...many.
"We need more troops!" Lonnie called, "Caleb! Can you link your men?"
"I am trying!" Caleb said, battling off a witch while she tried to place an enchantment on him, "Gods...no one is answering!"
Sven shuddered, casting his own fairy spells onto the witch brood.
"They're either dead or incapable of reaching out to you."
"No.." Caleb shook his head, tossing witches to and fro, "Why?!"
"Keep your head about you!" Sven scolded, "Do this for Astrid!"
"My pup.." Caleb was even more concerned for his mate, "I hate this! Why us?! Why,-"
"We're going to worry about that later!" Sarai said, "Win this battle so we can,-"
"There are so many!" Lonnie did his best to try and ward off the witches, but some of them seem to be even more powerful than the next batch, "Gods..."
"We got them..." Sven said, his powers finally revving up to full potential, "YES!!!"
With one swift motion, he was able to knock the witches down, taking them out in less than a minute after chiming into old, arcane magic.
"I hate when we use that!" Sarai shuddered, "It's over—for now."
"They'll be back," Lonnie sighed, "And with a bigger army."
Caleb looked around, "Do you think that my family is alright? I mean Niles and them?"
"Maybe.." Sarai said, "We still have Lonnie's men out there."
"They're going to come back with more information," Lonnie said, "We're going to clean up this mess so get back to your family."
Caleb hesitated, but made his way back to Stella who was now watching over her stepsisters.
"They aren't kidding. They are being targeted now."
"I know."
"I had to erase their minds."
"I figured."
"I am tired."
"I will turn the bed down for you."
"Are you sure?"
"You are with child. You need the rest."
"I love you."
"Not as much as I love you."
"I didn't say anything."
"Huh?"
Stella smiled, "I didn't say I love you."
"But I heard,-"
"I think you heard our baby."
"That's not possible—is it?"
"We're battling witches alongside centaurs and fairies—anything is possible."
Caleb carried his wife to the bed, "We're not going to be able to stay here."
"We can't run anymore, Caleb—I'm worried about Astrid."
"Why?"
"I think she means more to others than we think she does."
"My thoughts are that she is very special."
"I am tired. Please watch over them. They will sleep for quite some time."
"Permission to kill them if they act up?" Caleb teased.
"Permission granted.." Stella smiled as she drifted into sleep.
Caleb loomed over Penelope and Katie as they slept heavily in an opposite bed across the room.
"I meant it. I will end both of you if this is a trap. You will never hurt my mate again."
