"Bree?" Savannah gently called into my room, lightly knocking her fist on the door, "are you doing okay." I stayed quiet; my knees curled up to my chest.

"Can we come in," Lilly asked, her voice laced with concern, "we have hot cocoa,"

"Come in," I finally answered; the door creaked open slowly, revealing both of my roommates; I should have assumed they'd come to check on me; talking about my parents was always a rough subject.

"Are you okay?" Savannah asked; both she and Lilly sat on my bed in a criss-cross position, handing me my hot chocolate in the process. I shrug in response; I was used to it; this wouldn't have been my first time celebrating a holiday alone.

"I guess it just shook me a little," I respond; I typically avoid the conversation of my parents, no one really knows about my family, "and she wouldn't stop asking about it."

"I know," Lilly nodded, frowning at me, "we tried our best to change the conversation, but it kept coming back; I'm sorry."

"and I'm sorry for springing that whole going home with Charlie thing on you too," Savannah apologized; I shrug in response; I understood what she was trying to do; in her eyes, Charlies my boyfriend; so, of course, I'd wanna spend thanksgiving with him.

"It's okay, seriously," I reassure them; It wasn't their fault I was now stuck going to the Gillespie family thanksgiving; if anyone is to blame, it's Charlie. "I really appreciate you guys trying to help."

"Of course," Lilly smiled, "we know you find it hard talking about your family," I nod in agreement; I had told Lilly and Savannah everything pretty early on into living together during one of our 3 am chats.

"Are you upset with Tori?" Savannah asked; I knew it upset her that Tori and I's friendship fell out; she and Tori were close.

"No," I shake my head, "I know she only pushed because of my relationship," I shrug; it was true, I don't believe she would purposely do something to upset me; she just likes pushing my buttons because of Charlie.

"If someone were pining over my boyfriend, I wouldn't be as forgiving as you," Lilly admits; I chuckle lightly; maybe if my relationship were real, I'd be upset, but I was more so annoyed and confused by her hostility.

"Speaking of boyfriends," I sing, changing the subject from the choreographer who disliked me, "how are things going with Aiden?"

"Yeah," Savannah teased, wiggling her eyebrows, "He seemed pretty flirty in the group chat earlier."

"Oh, um," Lilly cleared her throat, awkwardly, "Yeah, it's going okay."

"Just okay?" I ask, frowning at her unenthusiastic response; She seemed happy the other night after her date. So, even though I wanted her with Owen, I was still confused by her sudden change of feelings.

"No, I mean it's good," She smiled brightly, "We're gonna go out again." Savannah and I shared a glance, both unconvinced, "So, are you excited to meet Charlie's family?" I couldn't help but chuckle at her abrupt change of conversation; that was my go-to move when I am uncomfortable.

"More like nervous," I correct her; even though Charlie and I weren't actually dating, I was nervous for a few days of having to pretend; I was scared his family would be able to see through our charade, I mean, they know their son better than anyone. "What if they don't like me?"

"Are you kidding?" Savannah asked, shaking her head in disagreement, "they'll love you."
