Zoo Trip Halloween Special

Every year at a zoo in Russia there is a celebration of Halloween. People are invited to come and dress up as various characters.

This year is the first time an eight-year old homeschooled boy will be able to go. The violet eyed boy is known to get sick a lot. Each sickness becoming more deadlier throughout his life, but fortune has smiled upon the boy for once.

It had been two months since he had last been sick and his parents promised him that if he was not sick for two months that the three of them would go to a zoo.

The boy jumped out of bed, his bright red weighted comforter was thrown off the bed.
Already the boy was dressed as the Black Panther (having put the costume on before he went to bed) his mask was beside his bed on his small blue plastic desk. He grabbed the red blanket from the floor and threw it back on the bed.

The violet eyed boy then grabbed his mask, ran across the small dark blue carpeted room, going past his white doorless doorway, and running out to the dining room/kitchen.

His two fathers were already up, his brown haired father was dressed in dark jeans, a long sleeved, tight, red shirt, a slim bright red jacket at his left side beside a large bag. His other father who was at the circular table eating some sugary cereal was wearing a deadpool suit, the mask beside his bowl on the table.

The man standing at the counter suit on turned to see his son, and smiled.
“Morning Yu Min.” He spoke, zipping up a lunch box.

He turned back to the large lunch box bag that could have easily of been a diaper bag.
“I think that’s everything.” The older said looking over the bag, grabbing his chin with his right pointer finger and thumb. His other hand on his hip looking over everything approvingly.

The small black haired boy stood beside his older father, he stood on his tiptoes opening the cabinet to the right of his brown haired parent, pulling out a glass, dark blue, colored bowl.

The Chinese man watched his son with concern in his brown eyes, the boy had grown so much. He ruffled his brown haired sons short hair once the child had gotten the bowl from the cabinet.
The boy went to sit down next to his other father around the circular wooden table, and eagerly grabbed the box of cereal on the table pouring it into his bowl.
The chinese man opened the cabinet in front of him, grabbing two containers of dinosaur shaped vitamin gummies. One was for his husband the other for his son.

Grabbing a bowl himself he sat on the other side of his husband, placing the vitamins on the table.
Not looking from his task of cereal he heard a groan of protest come from the two other men at the table.
“If either of you don’t eat your vitamins we aren’t going to the zoo.”

The groans ceased.

Soon enough the three of them were in their small four door car, heading to the zoo. The boy having a green plastic pumpkin basket in his lap, bounced in his seat looking out the window.

“Yu Min.” The taller dad said looking back at his son “Are you excited?”
The boy nodded, a smile could be sensed through his plastic mask.
“What do you want to see first?” The brown haired male asked looking back at his son through the rearview mirror for a quick second, then returned his eyes to the road.
“Panthers!” The boy said from the back seat “Or the bears!”

Despite himself the Ivan felt the quirks of a smile twitch on his lips at the mention of his son wanting to see a bear first.

“You remember the rule right?” Yao asked.
“Yes Baba.” The boy replied. The rule.

It had been made when the boy first went out with his family. Yu Min was not allowed to say he had two dads to the other people he met. It wasn’t because his family was ashamed but it was because they could get in trouble for reasons the boy could not grasp.

They arrived at the zoo. The brown haired man quickly placed his mask on, making sure that his pony tail went over his shoulders. The three got out, the boy bubbling with excitement, as the other two felt a slight twitch of fear. Yao could see every equation of how his son could somehow contract a disease here that could end his life, he kept a close eye on his son, his grip on the bag tightened.
Ivan grabbed his lovers hand squeezing it with a great amount of reassurance.
“It will be fine.” The Russian said behind his mask, gently taking the bag from the older male.

Once inside the boy had trouble staying close to his parents. He wanted to see every animal. The violet eyed boy was a ball full of energy.
First the family went to the Africa exhibit, looking for panthers. It was lucky for them that the zoo had five of them.
“Gather round.” A very pale blonde man said.
He was dressed as a vampire with powdery face.

“We have our new family today.”
A door opened to a building beside the exhibit, and three panthers came out. One of them only a kitten.
“This is Alexi, Niki, and their new daughter Jane.”
The children crowded around the exhibit wanting to see the baby, some were being dragged away by their parents.

Yu min, jumped behind a large group of people trying to get a look at the family, when his father wearing a mask came up behind him to place his son on his shoulders.
“Jane was almost killed by her mother from another zoo. The other zoo thought it would be best if they sold her, we brought her here and our two males took her in.” The blonde Chinese male said looking at the family with a warm smile.
“It's like us Baba.” The small boy said down to his brown haired father, who stood at the other adults side.
“You’re right.” Yao said softly.

Ivan smiled a little, quickly glancing around the crowd to see if anyone was whispering about them. Thankfully no one was.

Throughout the day the family stopped at each exhibit, Ivan and Yu Min each getting candy for wearing costumes at the zoo. They saw bears, lions, a tiger, a large crocodile born in America, and a giant spider that the Yao made sure none of them got close too.
After breakong for lunch Yao began to notice that some people were starring at them. He had been alive long enough to know that this wasn't paranoia.

Yao decided that they should go. Much to the two childrens protest they made it to the exit gate when a guard approached them.

Ivan realized what was happening and tried to keep calm as picked up their son in his arms.

"Sir." The guard said to Ivan "Who's son is this?"

Yu Min kept quiet as Yao amswered in perfect Russian
"Mine."

"Who is the mother?"
"She's dead." Yao stated

"Ah." He man saod eyeing the three.
Ivan giving off a dangerous aura around him.
"We have been having some concerns that you two are together as in dating or married."

The guards voice faltered as he sensed the Russian personifications aura.

"No sir." Ivan said "Yao is visitng from China with his son Yu Min. Besides even if we were."

Ivan gave off a cruel smile as he whispered something in the mans ear.

His dark face drained of all color. Apologizing he let the family leave.

When they got to the car Ivan held his sleeping son in his arms apologising for the things he had to say but was thankful he boy was not awake to see his father with his dark aura.

Ivan got in the driver’s seat while Yao put the sleeping brown haired boy in his car seat then looked over at his husband who had his head on the wheel both of his hands on either side of his head gripping the wheel.
“Ivan.” The Chinese man said kneeling next to his husband. “What’s wrong?”
The platinum haired man looked over at his partner his right hand went out of the car grabbing the brown eyed male, pulling the man into his lap holding him tightly.
“Ayiah!” The older man whisper yelled in order to not wake up his son. “Ivan if you wanted to hug me it could have waited until later or you could have at least given me a warning!”
The Russian laughed into his lovers chest softly as if he wasn’t trying to cry.
“I was scared.” The Russian said quiet enough for Yao to hear and their son too if he was awake. “I thought that he would do something. I can’t-I can’t lose you again, not our son either I‘m not strong enough.”
Yao held his lovers head closer to his chest, his right hand in his lovers hair playing with it softly while his left hand was on the Russians left shoulder his feet hung out from the car as he sat ‘princess style’ on his husbands lap.

They stayed for at least a minute longer before returning home. Both of them worried that soon their truest fear would come to life.
