Truce
"Well well well" Shierff James sings. A sea of 50 guards are lined across the perimeter of the exit to our secret hideout.
"If it isn't the masked crusader! The noble bandit, Robyn Hood!!" He claps mockingly.
I stand behind my girls as they raised their swords to protect me.
"I suggest you stand down bandits. You are outnumbered." the sheriff shrugs. I knew he was more than accurate as I surveyed the scene.
"How did you find us?" I fume.
"I followed your little fiancé over here and his brother. If it wasn't for them running after you...?" he chuckles.
I look at them both in anger. "You two were in on this?"
"Sydney of course not!" Timothee yells.
"I swear we didn't know!" Charles protests.
"Oh Robyn!! I suggest you come with me peacefully or your little band of merry women gets it" he snaps his fingers and each guard raises their swords.
"Why should I go with you? For what reason!"
"For stealing from the king"
"She didn't steal a thing! You and Charolette framed her" Charles comes to my defense.
"I suggest you quiet down prince. Your father would not be too proud of you infiltration with the enemy"
"She didn't do it! My father may be many things but he'll look at the side of truth!" Timothee snaps.
"Check your sack girl! The proof is in there" James points.
The king comes in on his horse and surveys the scene.
"Ella? Charles? Tim? What is the meaning of this?"
"You monster!" I yell.
He turns his gaze to me and tilted his head in confusion thinking he was mistaken; no one dare talked to the king like that.
"you killed her!!" I repeat myself through thick tears.
"Sydney stop it" Charles pulled me away, scared more for my my own life than his. He tried to pull me out the king's gaze to quiet me down but I pushed him off.
"You murderer! you killed her" I yelled again.
He saw the book in my hands and his eyes opened in shock.
"You....you.... are..." the Kings eyes open in fear.
Sheriff James smiles as he watchEd his plan unfold. "Tell him girl? Tell them who you are!" he chuckles.
I look to Charles then Timothee as he holds my waist tight.
"Don't Sydney... he will kill you" Charles pleads.
I break from his hold and step toward through the crowd of women, bold enough to face him.
"I am the daughter of Aria from the village of Westmore. Born on the 8th day of August. I am the bandit in the night that you people fear and the thief that you curse. I am the vagabond that steals from the rich and returns to the poor.
I am Robyn Hood,
Princess of Thieves"
"What!" the king growls in denial, "impossible! You should have died in the forest!"
"Well I didn't your majesty" I curtsy mockingly, "Your son showed mercy when I was nearly on my death bed. He has showed more mercy to me than you showed to your very own friend!"
"How long did you know" he turns to both his sons. They remain silent and stare at him with anger. They finally understood how evil he was.
"You lied to me? How could you Ella." The king whispers, pained at my dishonesty. I knew he had taken a certain liking to me... I probably reminded him of her....
"My lie seems ignsignficant compared to the turmoil and bloodshed that you have reaped on Enchancia."
"That's why you looked so familiar" the king interjected.
"You killed your best friend! how could you! you sit in this palace of luxury while your people starve of famine and disease; you are not a monster, you are the devil!"
"how dare you! peasant" he roars, offended I have suggested a fitting title.
"Peasant?! not too long ago, that title belonged to you; it was my mother's good foturne that led you to that ring and all your riches! you are a fraud! this ring is your only protection!" I hold it up to the light.
"Guards! Take her for a beheading!"
"Father no!" Charles objects, trying to pull me to escape.
"Get her!!!" shierff James commands.
The girls and I flipped high and zooomed past the guards; I slid down the trees and tried to find an entry to escape.
Timothee grabbed a silver sword and began to fight. Him and Janae, in synch while Charles led me away.
"Don't let her get awat! Robyn Hood is all we care for! We can't loose her again!" James fumes.
The guards came and tried to catch me but I was too quick for the king's men. As I run for the exit with Charles, Shierff James grabs Janae from behind and restricted her movement. I freeze as he pulls out a silver dagger from his pocket.
"Let go!" Janae struggles for freedom.
"Not so brave now Robyn." he whispered into her ears, gently piercing the edge of his dagger into her neck. A trail of blood slowly dropped from the side, onto her chest.
"Let her go!" I fume. I would do anything for her.
"Come with me and I'll let her go" James shrugs.
I looked down at the ring in my palm. I had to return it to its rightful owner and I knew this journal would lead me to it.
"No Robyn! Don't give it back!" Janae announces as she attempts to wiggle free.
I stand there in the forest and for the first time... I was unsure of what to do.
"If I go...will you leave them alone?"
He smiles handsomely "I don't make promises with thrives love"
I stand silently as I survey the scene. We were outnumbered by a few 100. We would all die if I did not comply.
"I need an answer or my men attack" the shierff sighs impatiently, seeping the dagger deeper into Janae's neck.
"Okay! Fine!" I yell, pleading with him to stop.
"Sydney no!!!" Charles yells.
The Shierff drops my friend and ties me up instead.
"Outcasts I'm not your leader but he is nothing but a fraud! Get out of here! He'll be coming with backup to collect the rest of you!"
He places a white cloth between my teeth and lifts me away.
"Sheriff! Where are you taking her!" Charles runs after him.
"Charles the wedding is off! I suggest you head safely back to the palace!" the king interjects, "I have a few choice words to say to the both of you." He voiced, fury laces his speech.
The Shierff tied chains around my ankles and wrists and lead me to the jail in the palace. I take one final look at Charles as he stares at me with remorse.
"I love you" I read his lips from across the distance. He climbs his horse and turned his head a way with defeat knowing death was now my fate.
A/N
Well.... it's been a good run but our girl Robyn is captured :(
I stared a new book (I know I'm a mess) entitled:
ADIES (also pronounced Hades)
It can be taken as a "sequel" to Dusa! Go give it a read and like/comment.
Byeeeee
