Weak

Not a couple

Raven sat on her bed, knees to her chest. She had failed, again. Slade had gotten her. He had hurt her. And she had let him. Robin had to save her, yet again. She was so weak, so pathetic. Why? Why couldn't she just defend herself? She needed to work on her hand to hand combat, bad. She hated having him always save her. Especially from Slade. It was just sad. She always seemed to fall for Slade's traps. Raven looked at the marks on her arms. Knife wounds. Slade had kept her in a small room, and every time she didn't answer his questions, he either slapped her or slashed her skin. She had sat in the corner, and didn't even let Robin touch her. Robin had to sit there with her for an hour, slowly moving closer. Her wounds were serious, but she had healed them, at least most of them. The one that dug deep into her stomach wouldn't heal. At all. She didn't know why.
Raven hadn't come out of her room for days. She knew her teammates were worried, but she couldn't deal with the shame. She didn't want to face Robin, either. A knock came at her door. "Raven?" She knew who it was. She called out to him. "Yes?" Her voice shook slightly. "I'm coming in." Robin called, his head on her door. "No." Raven called back, hiding on the floor beside her bed. Her voice was hoarse. She heard him push in the override code and enter. Raven tucked her face into her knees, and covered her head with her hood. She heard his footsteps come closer, but didn't dare to look up. "Raven?" He went down on his knees, crawling towards her. She scooted back against her dresser, and realized she was trapped. "I told you no." She kept her head buried in her knees, not wanting to look up. Robin touched her leg tentatively, but she jerked and pulled her legs closer to herself. He inched a little closer, not touching her. "Raven, what's wrong?" She mumbled something, but he couldn't hear her. "What?" He looked very worried. She spoke again, closing her eyes tight within the hood. "I was weak." Robin reached for her, and pulled down her hood. Her face was swollen, blue and black bruises everywhere. There were little cuts here and there, too. He rubbed her cheek with his thumb. "No, you weren't." She opened her eyes, swallowing. "I let him do this."
"You were scared."
"I can't afford to be scared." She looked at him, her eyes tired. Robin brought her to him, hugging the sorceress. She cried, and he rubbed her back. "Shh, Raven, he's gone now, you're okay." He felt her shame and fear through their bond. She coughed, wrapping her torn arms around him. "I'm weak. Such a fool." He shook his head no. "Rae, you're so strong." She tried to disagree with him, but he kissed her chakra. "Raven, you know I'll always protect you." She cried, hard. "I need to be able to care for myself." Robin put his chin on her head. "It's okay to need help. You know I'll always be there to help you." She choked a little. "You don't know the pain I was in." He pulled away from her, lifting his shirt. "Don't I?" On his stomach was a huge gash that ran from one side of his waist to the other. "I feel your pain. Emotionally and physically, Rae. I understand." Raven nodded, giving in. "You'll always be there?"
"Yes, always."
"I don't like to be weak." Raven said, looking down. He took her chin in his hand, speaking to her. "Remember Rae, What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." He pulled her to him again, ignoring the pain in his stomach.
