Interrogation

Not a couple

"No."

The word left her mouth fast, emotionless. He was pushing her over the edge, and she was about ready to burst.

How could he be blaming her for such a thing? Sure, she had evil blood inside of her, but she would never commit such a crime.

"Raven, you know I hate doing this."

He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose with two fingers. The evidence was all there, it all led to her.

"I didn't do it, Robin."

She was saying her mantra in her head, trying to keep herself calm. He was supposed to trust her, and here he was, interrogating her.

She looked at the dim light hanging from the ceiling. It seemed like something out of an action movie.

She was sitting there, on one side of the table, hands cuffed in front of her, while he stood on the other side, staring at her, his own hands crossed over his chest.

He spoke again, obviously tired of the questions and playing detective.

"The man was found in the alley, your cloak next to his injured body. And the fingerprints on his throat Raven, they match your own."

She crossed one leg over her lap, staring at him through the whites of the mask. She knew she had been framed, it was all part of Slade's plans. But Robin and the rest of the team thought he was gone, forever. In Gotham.

In Arkham Asylum. The reports showed he had died last week, but Raven knew better. She had thought Robin did too, but apparently not.

"I didn't hurt that man. I'm innocent."

She played with the cuffs on her wrists, cursing them. They were the ones Robin had designed for her. They reduced her magic.

"Please, Raven. I don't want to have to treat you like a real criminal."

"Isn't it too late for that? I'm in an interrogation room with handcuffs on, and security cameras."

"it didn't have to be me doing this. They wanted Batman to. But I told them no. It would've been worse with him."

"Nothing I couldn't handle."

She quipped, staring at the evidence files before her. She was getting fed up with this.

He sat in the edge of the table, looking into her amethyst eyes. He wanted so badly for her to be innocent, but the odds were stacked against her.

"This can be over quickly if you tell the truth."

Raven shot her eyes up to look at him, appalled he would even say such a thing. She stood up, hands on the table, leaning over it to come face to face with him.

"I may be a hell spawn, but I am not a liar."

He didn't even flinch, he stared back at her, responding with a slight edge in his tone.

"I want to believe you, Raven, but with the eye witnesses and evidence I can't. You need to confess, before things get worse."

She snapped. She was not about to be called a liar by her leader. She was anything but. She flew over the table, knocking him to the ground, straddling him, her hands on his chest.

"How dare you say that. I gave you the benefit of the doubt with Red X, with Slade. And here you are, going by files and lies rather than your gut."

The door swung open, but Robin waved off the intruders, motioning for them to  leave.

He looked up at her, seeing the danger in her eyes. But he also saw the fear and hope.

"Rav-"

"You are to let me go before I show you what I can do to make myself a criminal."

He raised a brow under the mask, not making a move to get up.

"No."

He said, his hands moving behind him so he could rest on his elbows. He kept his face calm as her eyes narrowed.

"Robin."

She growled, keeping her gaze on him as she shifted ever so slightly. He just continued to look at her, completely calm.

"Do what you must, Raven."

She sighed at him, looking into the security camera into corner of the room, before reaching her hand into his utility belt, swiftly removing a birdarang and and throwing it at the device, busting it.

It was a challenge, considering the cuffs, but she managed to break the thing. She then leaned down, inches from his face, removing his mask, revealing those blue eyes she had fallen in love with.

"You know I'm innocent. You know for a fact."

He nodded, his voice honest and tough as he spoke.

"I do, Rae. But if Slade gets a hold of that video, I need it to look real, the evidence, all of it. So he feels safe and makes his next move, thinking we're oblivious."

Raven felt herself freeze. He knew this whole time. He was doing this for her safety, for the team. She had been wrong. He did know better after all.

She felt him sit up, making it so she was in his lap facing him. He took her hands, releasing the cuffs, keeping his eyes on her. When he was finished, he took the mask from the ground, placing it back over his eyes.

Raven moved her wrists, closing her eyes for a moment and releasing her tension she had been holding since he brought her in there.

"You're such a pain."

She remarked, taking his face in her hands and pressing her lips against his, her hands finding their way to his hair.

He responded quickly, his own hands finding solace at her back, drawing invisible patterns on her.

She shivered, pulling away and placing her hands in front of her.

"Cuff me. If we want him to believe this, then I'm going to need to be put in a cell of some sorts. Under constant watch."

He tilted his head, standing up, helping her to her feet.

"Are you sure?"

"Positive."

He didn't like the feeling of her being seen as a criminal, but it was for the best. So he placed the cuffs on once more, getting into character, opening the door and pushing her out with him.

He walked her down the hall to a small cell on the left. She felt his concern through the meld, but used her empathy to send a wave of relief through him.

"This is where I stay."

She asked, making it seem like a statement. She scowled slightly, putting on a performance, knowing Slade was out there somewhere.
