Alone

Not a couple (This one takes place after the episode "How Long Is Forever?" when we get a glimpse of Raven's future)

She had no friends, everyone was gone. She had helped Starfire and the rest of them defeat a villain, but then they had parted with such ease. And now she was alone, again.

The cuffs on her wrists itched her skin, but it was for the best. So she wouldn't hurt herself or others.

She slid down the wall of the white padded room, her eyes staring at the ceiling. She tugged at the restraints, feeling the forming of a bruise.

She sighed, her emotions overwhelming her.

"Nobody. Alone."

She threw herself onto the ground, curling into a ball. Not until she heard a familiar voice did she sit up.

"Raven?"

No. No. It was just a hallucination. They always were. He would say her name, call her over, an then he'd be gone.

"Go away, I know you're not real."

The figure walked around to face her, his eyes unreadable under the mask.

"No, Raven....it's me....Robin."

She cried out, pushing herself up against the wall, she couldn't handle this. It was killing her.

"No, you're never real."

She began rocking, fidgeting with the cuffs on her wrists. Her white cloak kept her hidden, eyes watering.

"Rae..."

Nightwing reached out to touch her, sighing when she struggled with the restraints and went down the wall again, not looking at him.

"Don't touch me....it'll make the dream seem real."

"Raven, I am real!"

She flinched as he raised his voice, staring down at her.

Nightwing crouched down before her, touching her face. His gloved hands warm against her cheek.

"Could a hallucination touch you?"

She leaned into his touch. But quickly pulled away, confused and scared. No, they couldn't touch her. They never had.

"R-Robin?"

"Yes, Rae, it's me."

"But.....you left me. This isn't right. No, you shouldn't be here."

She looked down at the ground, shaking from the realization. He was tangible. He was real. Here. Whole.

"Raven?"

She didn't look up, afraid, scared he would be gone. But she nodded her head quickly, subtly.

Nightwing continued, trying not to startle her. She looked so small, so scared.

"Why are there cuffs on your wrists?"

She mumbled something under her breath, seemingly regretting her answer.

"What?"

"So I don't hurt anyone."

He was so confused. Raven never hurt anyone, at least not on purpose. She had such good control of her powers after Trigon was defeated, so what had happened?

She didn't look at him, she couldn't. Her powers would go haywire and possibly kill him.

"Raven, please look at me."

"I can't....."

He sighed, Raven hearing fabric sliding off of something. She was curious, wanted to know what he was doing, so she looked up slowly, her heart racing as she stared into his naked, ocean blue eyes.

She reached out for him, her wrists not able to separate. She stared at him while her fingers began touching his cheek. He closed his eyes for a second while her frail fingers caressed his eyelid.

It really was him, and he really wanted her to speak. She could feel it. Was she finally gaining the full use of her powers? Before, she could only heal small wounds and levitate light objects.

She spoke, her voice shaky compared to his own calming one.

"You left. So did most of my sanity."

She watched his eyes open as her hands backed off. He looked down at the ashen hands, pulling something out of his pocket.

It was a small key that looked to fit into the lock of the handcuffs. She inhaled sharply as he brought her hands up.

He had been given the key by the guard outside, who told him to keep it. So Nightwing did, and now he could do what was best.

He put the key into the hole, pausing as Raven whispered to him.

"No, I'll hurt someone."

He squeezed her hand reassuringly, smiling at her as the words left his mouth.

"You won't, Raven. You're too strong."

She exhaled slowly as the cuffs were removed, allowing her to wrap her arms around him, holding him tightly and rocking.

" I was so alone without you..."

He placed his chin on the crown of her head.

"I'm sorry, Rachel."

She tensed up at her real name. Rarely was it ever used, other than in her nightmares. He was apologizing. For leaving her.

She buried her head in his shoulder, his familiar touch bringing her comfort.  He breathed in her scent, glad he had found her.

Hey, Rae?"

Raven looked up at him, her expression tranquil. She felt safe, no longer alone.

"Hm?"

She cuddled back into him, his body washing away all her worries.

"Let's get out of here."

"Okay."

Hey guys. Sorry this one is kind of short, I wanted to finish it. Anyways, here's a little fun fact about me: In 6th grade, I was a hardcore BBRae shipper. Then, by the end of the school year, I had turned into a RobRae shipper. I found myself more intrigued with RobRae fan fiction than BBRae. I slowly started seeing more connections between Raven and Robin, until finally I began shipping them. So yeah, little fact about who I used to ship❤️💜
