It didn't take long for Astro and (Y/N) to reach the edge of Metrocity and the beginning of the Surface. Mostly due to Astro trying to speed walk there as fast as he could because he knew (Y/N) felt uncomfortable along the streets of Metrocity. (Y/N)'s nerves immediately disappeared once they arrived on the Surface. Their journey to the orphans' home was easy and quick. They got to the front door and Astro knocked loudly. The slot opened and a person asked, "what's the password?" They didn't even finish their sentence before they opened the door and made way for Astro to push (Y/N)'s wheelchair through. 

"(Y/N)'s home!" The person from the door screamed through the building. All the kids went silent for a second then cheered and ran towards (Y/N). (Y/N) smiled to all of them and hugged any that she could while Astro smiled with her as he looked around for a specific group of kids. He was about to ask where they were but (Y/N) beat him to it. 

"Where are Cora, Zane, Sludge and Widget?" She asked. 

"Out the back." Someone answered. 

"I'll get them!" A young girl, Katie, offered as she ran away. It was less than a minute before four extra kids came running through. They all screamed Astro and (Y/N)'s names although they did indeed miss (Y/N) more. Luckily, Cora had also been in the building for the past day and somewhat night as she visited the kids again after reuniting with her parents. They ran up to the girl in the wheelchair and hugged her tightly before they all noticed the true condition she was in. 

"Woah, you only got one arm now?" Sludge asked. 

"Yeah, I do, until my new one is made." (Y/N) explained. 

"Does that mean you got your leg removed too?" Cora asked. (Y/N) pulled the blanket up her left leg and revealed her stump halfway up her thigh. The kids reactions were nothing like she expected. They called her stumps 'cool' and 'badass'. They called her 'cool' and 'badass'. It made her feel less insecure about her situation, which made her feel way more comfortable than what she did less than an hour ago. The kids had reunited with Astro during this time, Zane asked a question. 

"So where are you staying now?" 

"At Astro's place since his dad is making new prosthetics." (Y/N) explained. 

"So... you're sleeping with Astro?" Zane asked with a smirk. 

"WHAT?!" Both (Y/N) and Astro exclaimed abruptly. Cora elbowed Zane in the ribcage. 

"What~?! I meant she's sleeping at his house! So she's sleeping with him!" Zane whined in an attempt to defend himself, even though he knew exactly what he was doing. And Cora knew this as well, so she elbowed him again. 

"Zane.." (Y/N) shook her head with her hands over her blushing face. Astro just stood there awkwardly as his eyes flickered between (Y/N) and the floor a couple of times. 

"Let's just walk around the Surface a bit." Cora suggested as she opened the front door again so Astro could push (Y/N) through. The three of them and the twins went outside and Zane tried follow along. But Cora closed the door on his face. 

"Zane, feel free to stay home." (Y/N) added, being partially playful yet serious. Zane laughed as he opened the door with one hand and held his nose with the other. 

(YES I KNOW THEY'RE 15/16 BUT THE JOKE WAS FUNNY (TO ME, AT LEAST) AND IT FEELS LIKE ZANE WOULD BE THE ONE TO SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT)

As they walked around the places where (Y/N) and the other kids used to hang out, Cora brought up a thought that lingered on everyone's mind. 

"So, once you get your new arm and leg, will you come live on the Surface again?" 

"Probably. I have nowhere else to go." (Y/N) noted. 

"You can stay at my place." Astro offered a little quicker and louder than he wanted. An invisible blush covered his cheeks. "I-I mean, if you want to. The options there." He added. (Y/N) thought about it for a second. 

"Maybe while I get used to the new prosthetics. But I might go back to the Surface once I'm back to normal. The kids need someone to look after them and keep them out of trouble." (Y/N) explained as she ruffled Sludge's hair, who stood beside her wheelchair. Astro was a little disappointed but he understood where she was coming from. 

"You can still visit anytime. All of you can." Astro suggested with a smile, mostly towards (Y/N). (Y/N) covered up her blush perfectly, apart from Astro being able to sense the heat in her cheeks, but he'd never tell her that. 

"That'd be nice. Now that getting to and from Metrocity is much easier." (Y/N) noted. "You sure you guys will be okay while I'm at Astro's and Cora's with her parents?" She asked the kids, more directly to Zane due to him be the oldest out of the trio (excluding Cora). 

"Eh, we'll be fine." Zane assured. "I'm extraordinarily responsible." He said as he nodded his head with his eyes closed and his arms crossed, truly thinking he was correct. 

"Sure. Anyway, I will make sure we'll be fine." Widget added with a proud smile. 

"I'm sure you will." (Y/N) laughed. (Quick thing, I know from time to time, (Y/N) sounds older than what she is (she's around 15/16 in the story) but that's because (apart from Hamegg) she's always been the most mature one to look after the other orphans. Like how Cora speaks older than what she is in the movie. I'll try to give (Y/N) those moments where she doesn't need to act mature and can act like a kid)

They eventually wrapped up their Surface trip and decided to finally part, for the time being. Astro and (Y/N) would go back to Astro's home, Cora would go back to her parents, and the other kids would retreat back to their home they shared with the other orphans. Of course, they weren't able to leave without another slightly inappropriate joke added and a slap heard from Cora, followed by a quiet 'ow' from Zane.

It was becoming late afternoon and (Y/N) had made it back to the building as Astro walked beside her. She insisted that she used the toggle stick on the left side of her wheelchair to move around by herself. Astro gladly let her take control although he loved pushing her wheelchair because it made him feel as though she was safer and less likely to get hurt. They stepped into the elevator and travelled upwards. 

"Thanks for bringing me back there. Felt way more comfortable on the Surface than having everyone stare at me." (Y/N) started. 

"No problem! I saw how stressed you were so I knew it'd calm you down." Astro smiled. (Y/N) smiled back. A ding went off to notify them they'd reached their level. The doors opened and they entered the apartment.
