Renewed Relationship
A/N: Oh my golly! I have 1.2K readers! Thanks guys!
P.S: I started on my new story I was talking about doing. It's called Into the Past. Check it out if you want.
P.P.S: Oh, and also in here are some quotes from the comics! Why don't you try to guess what they are? I'm not going to tell you unless you do! There are a few!
Dick typed something into the Batcave's computer and looked at the tracking device.
"Damian, are you okay?" Dick asked into the speaker.
Yeah, a few grunts here and there,Peachy, call in later, fighting Joker with Father!
"Okay, good luck you guys!" Dick said and turned off the speaker,"So Jason?"
"Yeah?" Jason was practicing punching a punching bag in the training section of the cave.
"What are you doing this weekend?" Dick asked, with little interest.
"Going to visit the old team, you?" Jason responded, with no interest in the question either.
"Ah, nothing. I might take Damian for ice cream though. Not sure." Dick mused, flipping through his digital watch calendar.
"He hasn't been introduced, has he?" Jason asked, kicking the bag off it's hook.
"Nah, don't think so.." Dick chuckled, and started to sip his coffee.
"Hm... you fixing that?" Jason picked up the bag and hoisted it back on the hook.
"Gonna try, if he'll let me. Might be hard." Dick put down his mug and went to go help his brother.
"I wish ya luck. Just don't die on me, kay?" Jason joked, and punched the bag hard.
Dick grinned and went back up to the computer,"Wonder how Tim is doing."
"Said he was going on a date with Steph, I wouldn't worry." Jason said.
"Sure, a date. That'll be something." Dick grinned and picked his coffee mug back up.
"Wonder how they got together so soon, Tim has never had the guts to ask her out. Why so soon?" Jason stopped punching for a second to stop and steal Dick's coffee mug.
Dick didn't resist. He was to busy in thought. It was true. Tim never had had the guts to ask Steph out, and she wasn't in any position to ask him out, she was also nervous, and not that Tim would accept, he would be to embarrassed, so why now? Was Tim lying to them? Was Tim going on a secret mission that he didn't want anybody to know about? What was it? Was he trying to avenge someone? If so who? It's not like his family was dead, he still had his dad right as this point! He had his dad at least... But why would he not tell anybody about a mission? Keeping a secret was not like Tim.
Dick jerked himself back to reality as he listened to Jason talk about Wonder Girl or something.
"Hey Dick, you listening?" Jason asked, slapping Dick's head lightly.
"Um.. what? Yeah!" Dick responded, taking another sip out of his mug that Jason was holding.
"Anyway, as I was saying, I can't wait to see Donna, the Wonder Girl! Can't wait to troll her!" Jason giggled, none to gently removing the mug from Dick's custody.
"You have a new crush or something? By the way, she goes by Troia now. Cassie goes by Wonder Girl!" Dick corrected automatically, stealing back the mug.
"Why do I not know this? And she's not my crush!" Jason grabbed back the coffee cup.
"Anyway, lovie dovie, I'm gonna go out. Call me when Dami and Bruce get back. I hope they're okay." Dick called over his shoulder to Jason.
"Where are you going?" Jason followed his older slash younger brother and watched as he hopped onto his motorcycle.
"I'll turn my tracker. You'll know where I am." Dick responded, putting on his mask then helmet.
"Going for Tim, thought you didn't want to be near him?" Jason asked, rubbing his belly.
"For his own safety." Dick averted his eyes.
"It's really tearing him apart you know." Jason burped loudly.
"What do you mean?" Dick waved the disgusting burp smell away.
"He loves you. And yet, you can't bring yourself to be near him." Jason took another sip of coffee.
"I'll hurt him." Dick eyed the mug.
"Oh Dick..." Jason put down the mug.
"Look, he needs to be safe, and I might kill him! Like last time, the explosion.." Dick grasped Jason's hands.
"You wouldn't. And that wasn't your fault." Jason rubbed Dick's back reassuringly.
"Yeah I would. And it was." Dick seemed close to tears and he cried into Jason's shirt.
"Dick, don't talk like that. He's forgiven you, you know?" Jason rocked Dick back and forth like a baby.
"Yeah I know, but will I forgive myself? I think not." Dick pulled away and sat back on his motorcycle, then changed into Nightwing.
Jason watched as Nightwing clicked a button on the cycle,"Be safe, okay?"
"You know me." winked the teenage adult superhero, through tears of course, and he sped out.
"Boy, Dick, you better stay safe or I'll kill you." Jason muttered to himself, then took a long slurp of the coffee.
---
Dick, who was now Nightwing sped across the streets, silently tracking his younger brother. Tim that is.
The dot seemed to be staying in one place. It was in an old building....
"Oh no!" Nightwing murmured to himself and sped up, hoping he wasn't to late.
---
Red Robin was getting a beating, a really bad one. A really really bad one. And it hurt.
Red Robin glared at Deathstroke in defiance,"I can't believe what you've done to my brother!"
"Which one? Which Robin?" Deathstroke chuckled.
"You know which one! Nightwing!" Red Robin was close to tears.
"Yeah, whatever!" Deathstroke took hold of his whip once more and beat down on Tim, Red Robin, once, twice, three times.
"Do you know what you've done to him?!" Red Robin seemed mad, and in pain.
The truth was, Tim really wanted Dick to be with him again. He wanted his brother's comfort and love. But Dick couldn't seem to forgive him, and Tim wanted to fix that by putting up with Deathstroke. He knew that Dick had something against Deathstroke. But Tim wasn't as strong as Dick was, and unable to get to Deathstroke, so was now getting beat.
Deathstroke raised his knife instead of his whip for another round.
Probably the last.
Nightwing jumped in front of Red Robin and took the gash, a deep bloody gash, in which blood didn't seem to stop pouring, but yet he spoke anyway,"Enough."
Deathstroke lept back in terror as Nightwing crashed him into the wall and tied his hands behind his back, then blindfolded and gagged him. Then tied his feet and tossed him out the window. It was way to easy, considering Nightwing was blind with rage.
"The authorities will take care of him." Dick said, as he had taken off his Nightwing mask, kneeling in front of Tim, who had pulled back his small cowl, "Are you okay?"
Tim shed one or two tears,"I'm fine."
"No you aren't, you've got little scars all over." Dick said sadly,"I'm sorry I couldn't come earlier."
"I'm fine, and I knew you'd come." Tim said.
"How'd you know? How'd you know I'd be there to save you?" Dick asked, his hand on his brother's shoulder.
"You're my brother Dick. You'll always be there for me." Tim said.
"Except I wasn't..." Dick replied, fingering the giant gash in his stomach.
"I love you." Tim threw his arms around Dick.
"Me too." Dick said,"Which is why you should stay away from me!"
Tim started crying,"Will you ever forgive me?"
"It's never been about me not forgiving you, it's about not losing you.. and about not forgiving myself." Dick said.
"You should. I need you Dick, I really do!" Tim cried.
Dick threw his arms around Tim,"Okay. I guess we kinda have a renewed relationship now, huh?"
"Yeah," Tim agreed, then,"Boy my dad won't be happy about this.."
"At least you have a dad to complain at you." Dick said sourly as he helped his brother up.
"Sorry.." Tim trailed off, when he saw Dick's tears.
"I lost mine.." Dick whimpered,"Gone forever, the vengeance I feel today though is awful, like I'll never be able to get rid of it..."
Tim remembered the day Dick's parents had died, he still had the picture of him with the Flying Graysons.
Tim started to pull it out when Dick's com rang and Jason's voice rang out.
Damian's got a broken rib and a bullet in his arm. We can't get it out. It'll have to stay there. You know, like the seven bullets you have in your rib cage. And the five in the both of your legs. And the three in your arms. You're lucky we got the one in your scull out. Hehe.. anyway. Dami's bound to end up with as many bullets as you Dick. You okay by the way? Hey that rhymed!
"Yeah, fine." Dick paused,"Though I think my suit is turning red."
Very funny Dick. I am so killing you for getting hurt! Where's the gash?
"Chest. Why will you kill me?" Dick asked.
I said if you got hurt then I'd kill you. Now get your ass over here!
"Language Jason Peter Todd!" Dick scolded.
Out of all things Dick, scolding, hmph! I'm to old for that! You find Timmy?
"Yeah, he might need a few bandages..." Dick glanced over.
What is up with this family. Damian, Bruce, you, Timmy, and... Alfred! I gotta go, Alfred just tripped!
"Wonder what happened to Bruce..." Dick wondered aloud, wiping away former tears.
Tim stared up at his brother,"You know I was there."
"What?" Dick looked at him in confusion.
"The day they died. I was six." Tim said.
"You took a picture with me." Dick remembered.
"Yeah, and I remember everything." Tim said, looking down.
"Oh, Tim, why did you have to see it?" Dick put his head in his hands.
"Oh Dick, I remember you swinging down to the ground as your parents climbed up the ladder. Your mother went first, your father followed. And then it happened, their trapeze rope snapped, and they fell. I turned away. I couldn't watch. Then I heard you crying and I turned back and saw you holding onto them, and I started crying to." Tim shoved the picture of him and the Flying Graysons at Dick,"And I started crying to." he repeated.
Dick looked at it in surprise and silently started to cry,"If it's one thing that that night taught me is that, you never know if you can fly, unless you take the risk of falling. They showed me. A risk worth taking."
Tim and Dick fell silent together.
"Well, better get back to our family." Dick said.
"That's what we are. Not just a team, but a family." Tim smiled.
"A team that fights for justice!" Dick added.
"That's right! A family remember?" Tim teased.
"Yeah, and even though you guys will never be able to replace my old one, you'll always be my family, no matter what." Dick said, wiping away his tears as he stood up.
"Through everything and anything." Tim added pulling himself up.
"Through blood and gore."
"Through pain and suffering."
"Through neglect and abandoning."
"Through sorrow and tears."
"Through unhappiness and rejection."
"Through fights and battles."
"Through nothing at all."
"We are brothers. Always." Tim finished.
Dick smiled and repeated the last word, "Always."
