Connection

I think I'll make the Ethan chapter next... hope you guys will like it!  Also, in this chapter Doctor Light will be a little OOC, because I have no idea who he is beside being a supervillain!

The 6 times that Dick just knows when to be there for his brothers both as Nightwing and as Dick Grayson and the 1 time that Damian knows when to be there for him..

1.  Jason

Jason waited on the other side of the door, waiting for Dick to walk through.  It was Jason's birthday and he was giving himself a gift, the gift of watching Dick's face when a bunch of ice water hit his head as he would walk through the door into Jason's  room.

Jason had planned it out with the precision only a Robin could make.  But he was a Robin, so that made him perfect.

It was all perfect, and the face of utter shock would be his amazing birthday present.

Why would he give himself a birthday present?

That was easy.

He was certain everybody else forgot.

So this was his birthday present.

Suddenly the door creaked and Jason suppressed an evil cackle as the water poured down.

Jason watched as Dick walked through the door a moment later.

But Dick was dry!

"How did-" Jason asked.

"I pushed the door open, but I didn't walk through!" Dick said, because he had totally anticipated this situation.  You have to when you have these types of brothers.

"Woah, how did you-" to say Jason was flabbergasted would be an understatement.

"Well, I just figured you didn't want your birthday present to get all wet." Dick pulled out the latest and most expensive issue of Guns Almighty, the best gun magazine in the world, and handed it to his brother.

Jason stood there gaping,"How- What- Why- When-  Oh crap, you know what, I've learned to never ask with this family."

Dick winked and walked back out the door, avoiding the large puddle of ice water laying right on the ground.

2. Tim

Tim stared at the girl with puppy dog eyes.

She was so so hot.  Blond hair that waved all the way down to her waist in long beach waves, brown eyes that could melt a hole right into your heart.  She was perfect in every way.

And she had just asked the million dollar question.

"Well Tim?  Will you go out with me?" she asked, waving her hair behind her shoulders and smiling with bright white teeth.

"Um..." Tim was unsure how to answer this.

He didn't really want to go out with her because he had already gone out with Steph a few times and he was to go out with her again soon.

He didn't really want to cheat on his unofficial girlfriend for this hottie.

But how was he gonna say no?

"Well, um, uh..." Tim said awkwardly, as the girl stared at him with expectant eyes.

"Hey Timmy!" Dick Grayson said, walking up right behind him,"Who's this?"

"Uh... this is Heidi, Heidi this is my big brother Richard." Tim said, unsure how to tell Dick his plight, since this would be very hard to communicate in Bat language without the girl noticing.

"Oh, well I'm sure Tim and I will see you later Heidi!  Tim's gotta get ready for his date with his girlfriend tonight!" Dick said, smiling brightly at the girl and dragging Tim away.

Heidi gaped in surprise as Tim waved goodbye.

"How did you know?" Tim asked, once they were out of earshot of the beautiful Heidi of course.

"I'm your big brother, I know everything." Dick said winking,"Now you go get ready for your date with Steph!"

"I don't really have a date with Steph Dick, didn't you just make that up?" Tim said, looking at his brother with a totally confused face.

"Well, I literally just called Steph, she's on her way!" Dick said, giving his movie star smile and walking out of the room,"I advise taking her out to the movies... you know how she likes the violently gory ones?  There are two tickets in the living room!"

"How the heck did you-" Tim cut himself off with a shake of the head and said to himself, "I don't even want to know how Dick's mind works."

3.  Damian

Damian looked at a picture of his mother and sighed, how he wished he could just know what he felt for her.

It was all so confusing.  Sometimes, he really loved her.  But sometimes, her plans for world domination really threw him off.

Of course he was pondering this by himself in the very most secret part of the house that he was pretty sure no one else but Alfred knew about, and even Alfred would forget about this place.

Of course, this place was so secret, that I can't even mention were it is in the ginormous manor.

But this place was perfect for him to mourn.  A little window that let only black in and a small bench that he could sit on.

Suddenly he felt beads of hot water emit from his eyes and streak down his cheeks and fall onto his green sweatshirt, making small stains and disappearing as quick as they came.

What were these called?

Tears?

Yes, but why would he of all people be crying?  He never ever cried.

"Hey Lil' D, wanna talk about it?" Dick Grayson was right behind the bench, his hand reaching out for Damian's shoulder, but he took it away last minute, because he knew of Damian's problem with physical touch.

Damian sniffed and scooted away, wondering how the heck Grayson found this place, "Go 'way Grayson!"

Dick heaved himself up next to Damian onto the bench and hugged him.

"Go away Grayson.." but Damian made no move to bump Dick away, in fact he moved into his hug a little more.

A few minutes later, Dick moved up, "Dinner's ready by the way."

"Grayson?" Damian asked, holding his former mentors hand, "How did you find this place?"

"I never knew it existed actually." Dick said, twiddling with his hair.

"Then how-" Damian was cut off by Dick.

"I just know, you're my brother." Dick said, unwilling to explain anything else today.

"Grayson?" Damian asked, still holding Dick's hand.

"Yeah Dami?" Dick asked back, happy Damian was actually touching touching him physically, it doesn't happen often.

"Thank you..." Damian said, his eyes falling shut.

4.  Red Hood

Red Hood peeked his head at the smugglers over the window, pondering the best way to take them out.

There were only three of them and they looked incredibly harmless.

So he could he take them easily.

By himself.

He flipped off the ledge, sloppily, and shot a few bullets.

"Get out of my city, weirdos!" Hood shouted, firing a few more bullets at the people.

The men looked surprised, and two of them came up and started to fire back and Jason.  The other one was talking on his walkie talkie.

Suddenly, behind his mask, Jason's eyes widened in stark realization that the man had just called back-up.  Normally, this would not really be a problem, considering the Bats are always totally prepared.

But today, Jason did not have as many bullets as he would have liked.  He would have to blame the demon for that... Damian Wayne had been rummaging through his superhero stuff this morning, and was taking out packets of bullets at odd intervals.  Jason hadn't thought much of it, until the next few moments he was out in the city with only 1/8 of the bullets he normally had.

So, Red Hood just stood there as his bullets ran out and began to play a game of dodge against the 100 some people that had just came out from behind the trucks, from the rafters, and out of the crates.

"What the f---?"  Red Hood cursed, as a bullet missed his head by two inches.

"Language, Hood!"

Red Hood whipped his head around at the familiar voice.  Nightwing!  Of course his elder brother would be here.

"Here, take these!" Nightwing tossed him some packets of bullets one by one by one, and watched as his younger/older brother caught them with grace and started to fight his enemy back.

Nightwing made no move to help his brother.  He knew Red Hood hated the help, because whenever someone helped you, you had to say thank you.  So he watched as his vigilante friend took down each villain one by one... killing only a third of them this time!

Once Red Hood fired his final shot, he whipped his head around to Nightwing,"I didn't put the Bat signal on!"

"I know..."

"So how did you know?"

"I just did, Hood... See you back at home!"

Red Hood stared after his predecessor in wonder, "Thanks Wing..."

5. Red Robin

Red Robin walked across the rooftops of the grand and crime filled Gotham city, not really watching where he was going, only having his eyes glued to the screen before him, tracking down the signal that had kept him up all week, depriving him of sleep.

He was almost onto Dr. Light, and his signal was beeping faster then ever before.

He yawned and stopped for a moment... boy was he tired.

Shaking it off, he stumbled across the building, only one thing intent on his mind.

Dr. Light.

He was going to get this villain once and for all.  Take him down.  Shut him out.

And then onto Arkham Asylum with him!

Bye bye!

Once again, Red Robin yawned as he approached the sparkling light, and all of a sudden... he was right there.  And so was Dr. Light.

"Oh ho!  So it's my old enemy, Red Robin!  How are you my boy?" Dr. Light said, moving his hands in weird patterns, as if trying to make light be manipulated.

Red Robin slowly pulled out his bo-staff, like he was stuck in syrup.  He was so tired that his staff seemed heavy.

"Oh little boy is tired is he?" Dr. Light swung a beam of light at Red Robin, momentarily blinding him.

Nightwing watched as his one time student and sighed, knowing what he would have to do and regretting it already at Red Robin's face...

"Red!" Nightwing shouted, flipping off the side of the building,"You need help!"

Red Robin gave a sad look to Nightwing, but as genius thoughts rushed through his head he realized he would need help... and he stepped aside.

When Nightwing had Red Robin's enemy subdued he turned to his brother, "Look, stop pulling all-nighters!"

"How did you know..." Red Robin said, falling to his knees in a moment of temporary no feeling in his legs.

Nightwing picked up the fallen superhero and gingerly carried him to his bike,"It doesn't matter, but from now on, if you really want to beat your enemy there is one key thing you need..."

"What?"

"Sleep, now go back to the cave!"

"Nightwing!"

6.  Robin

Robin tapped his foot impatiently as he leaned over the gargoyle and watched for any suspicious activity down at the docks.

He was bored.

And his former partner wasn't here.

He had always always called Grayson an idiot ever since he had met him.  Even when he took guardianship over him.  Even when he became Batman.  Nothing had ever stopped this habit.

But then Grayson left.... (A/N:  STUPID REBOOT!!!)

And Robin felt himself missing his former mentor.  And regretting every time  he had called the man an idiot.

Because now he was missing the stupid comments, the occasional flick to the head, the loving teasing, the little ice cream cartons he would have in his utility belt so that Robin could eat out of it with his Batarang... he missed it.

And now Grayson was gone and father was here.

Well, he had always loved father, and all he wanted was to train with his father... but when Grayson left, and all his idiotic habits left with him, all Damian could think of was the fun they had.

Robin watched as the night grew on and he sat lonely on patrol, reminiscing all the good times he had.

"Hey little D!  To early for ice cream?" Nightwing stood behind him, two small cartons of Ben and Jerry's in his hand.

"Grayson?" Robin asked, masking the relief and happiness that suddenly washed over him,"Ice cream?  On patrol?  It's unprofessional!"

"Oh well, more for me!" said Nightwing, pulling out a wing-ding(Nightwing Batarangs) and spooning out the ice cream for himself to eat.

Robin stared at the cartons hungrily and finally snatched one from his eldest brother,"How did you know that I needed you?"

"I always know kid..." Nightwing winked, "And I know you want me to stay, so I will..."

"Why would I want you?" Robin immediately defended himself, wondering how the hell Grayson knew this.

"You need me on patrol... we're partners!" Nightwing said, teasing his youngest sibling by tussling his hair,"Now how about you kick some punk's butt?  He's down there right now?"

"You?" Robin asked, tugging his hair, "You mean we right?"

Nightwing smiled at the unexpected sentence that Robin had just uttered and wished he had recorded it, "You know it!"

The one time Dick needed somebody....

Dick shook in his bed, seeing the same scene he had seen every single year of his life ever since he was 8....

The crowd was cheering wildly as Jack introduced THE FLYING GRAYSONS!! As always, performing their daring feats for you, without the safety of the net.

John Grayson waved at the cheery crowd and jumped on one of the bars and flipped across the top of the circus tent.  Mary Grayson gave her son one last peck on the head before smiling at the waiting crowd and blowing some kisses to the circus members.

Dick watched as she jumped into his father's waiting hands and watched as they leaped across the tent together, in perfect sync and with beautiful motions that made anybody go into a trance.

Dick smiled and he waved at the audience and he reached his hands out to leap into his mother's waiting arms and listen to her say 'Fly little Robin', and gaze into his father's eyes and share that special father-son wink they did every time they did this act.

Suddenly the rope snapped and they fell..... slowly, and as they did, Dick could see the satisfied face of Zucco, smiling and saying,'Looks like the Flying Graysons may just have to change their names...'

And just as Dick felt himself jolt in the nightmare, something that rarely happened, happened.

Bruce Wayne.  His father that could never replace his real father, but that didn't matter, he was family and Dick would always love him.

Bruce Wayne was right there one minute, telling a teenage Dick Grayson to not make to much trouble, and that he was going on patrol and to watch that Damian doesn't follow him out, and that Tim shouldn't stay up past 12:00, and to...... the list went on and on...

And suddenly, Dick saw the helicopter go down, Batman in it, and then he saw Darkseid, and he saw Batman go away.. away.. away..

Jason Todd was standing beside him, telling him to f--- off!  Go away pest, or something that had every bad word in every language ever.

So Dick just ignored the insults and paid little to none attention to the newest Robin.  Until that day that Dick saw him on the floor, dead with blood dripping out of every part in his body.... blood everywhere, staining the ground and leaving permanent marks, a reminder of what had happened to his first brother.

And then there he was as Nightwing, sitting by Damian Wayne as Robin, and he could hear Damian say that they were the best partners.  And he watched himself jump over the concrete wall with his former partner as they went to battle the enemy... and he watched as Damian battle himself to the death... dying for him...

Right after that, the scene shifted from things that he saw in his past to things he saw in his future... and they were not pretty...

Damian suddenly woke up, and rushed to Dick's room just as a crazy scream echoed around the manor.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

"Grayson, wake up!" Damian shouted in his eldest brother's ear.

Dick panted and tears sprang from his eyes,"Oh my gosh... DAMIAN!"

"Right here..." Damian had no idea what was wrong with his brother, but the tears staining his normally cheery face hinted something not so pretty, such as a nightmare, "What happened?"

"You're alive, you're alive, you're alive...." Dick said, whimpering under his breath and he hugged his brother so tight to his chest that Damian wondered how bad the nightmare really was.

"I'm right here Grayson, I always will be.  Now go to sleep." Damian whispered, just holding his brother back,"I'll always be here."

A/N:  I am so sorry that this was not very good, and I am really sorry about the Dick based part at the end... again, so so so so so so so sorry!
