Wanda's POV

It is not real.

Lies.

Lies.

Fake. It must be fake.

Pietro cannot be dead. I will not allow it.

I collapsed to the ground in the hollowed out church, screaming in agony as the echo of gunshots faded away. My brother was dead because I was not there to protect him. Pietro died because I was selfish, I wanted revenge only to change my mind last minute, dragging him with me.

But I will not allow my brother to die in vain.

I stood up, feeling the power surge through my body as I used my energy to crush the Ultrons around me, turning their bodies into ash. My eyes glowed a haunting scarlet as I propelled myself through the air, heading for the train that contained the last monstrous robot. Bursting through the door, I found Ultron weak and blubbering, his body malfunctioning as I floated towards him.

"Wanda, please, don't do this." He pathetically tries to beg for his life, but his pleas fall on deaf ears. "They will only fear you if you do."

I stared him blankly in the eyes as I stuck my hand in his chest, ripping out his mechanical heart. "Let them." I spoke emotionlessly as I crushed the last Ultron, watching the light dull in his eyes. Satisfied that he was really gone, I stood and walked out of the train, flying over the pieces of debris that would have been a hassle for me to climb over. I didn't know where exactly I was going, I just knew I had to find Pietro now that his murderer was dead, too. Figuring that the Avengers would most likely not leave his body behind, I made my way solemnly to the helicarrier where Natasha Romanoff was waiting. "Where is he?"

"He's gone, Wanda." Never one to sugarcoat, the Black Widow explained to me that Pietro died protecting Clint Barton and a civilian, being gunned down by an Ultron. I blinked back my tears, staring down the Russian woman in front of me.

"Where is the body?"

Her face softened when I asked the question and I could've sworn I saw pity in her eyes. "Wanda, there was an explosion when we went to get him...we couldn't recover his body. I'm sorry." Anguish pulsed through my veins as I realised my brother would not get a proper burial, that he died alone without me there to hold him, that he died because of me and I can't even do right by him in death.

I fell to my knees, numb. I barely registered Clint pulling me onto the ship or the helicarrier departing. I did hear Captain America ask me if I could ease the city back to the ground, which I tried to slow the descent with the help of Iron Man and his technology. There was irreparable damage, but not nearly as bad as if we let the city free fall.

I came back to the present when Clint shook my arm, asking if I was okay. I nodded slightly, looking up to the sky with a small smile. "I guess I'm the older twin now, brother." Clint smiled sadly, pulling me into a hug as I broke down with grief.

Two Days Later

"So Wanda, you are always welcome to stay with me and my family on our farm if you'd like." Clint mentioned yet again, handing me a steaming mug of coffee.

"I could always use the company, too, and us ladies gotta stick together right?" Natasha winked, clinking her cup with mine. I nodded absentmindedly, so deep in thought that the agents in the room could tell what was on my mind. "You don't have to stay with either of us, you know. Even though you are only fifteen, you are quite mature. We could arrange for SHEILD to set up an apartment for you or-"

I cut her off with a shake of my head, a grateful smile on my face. "Thank you so much, both of you. But if this whole experience has taught me anything, it is that family is the most important part of life. So, I must be leaving the Avengers." Clint and Natasha frowned, exchanging glances as I sipped on my coffee. It was Clint, ever the worried father, to ask where I would go and what I would do. "I have a cousin in Gotham who has been making headlines. I think I will pay him a visit, see if he remembers me."

"What if he doesn't?"

I shrugged, making eye contact with Nat. "Like you said, I am mature. I will figure it out. I am grateful for all that the Avengers have done for me but I don't believe it is healthy for me to be around those that last saw Pietro alive right now. Maybe in the future."

"Understandable." Clint nodded, reaching out to pat my hand. "If you need anything, you know where to find us. Can we at least give you a lift? Gotham is a long flight for your powers alone."

I smirked, downing the rest of my coffee. "I was hoping you would say that. I don't want to be all gross and sweaty when I reconnect with my cousin."

"Imagine that first impression. 'Hey, it is me Wanda Maximoff, I'm your cousin from Sokovia hoping to stink up your home with my sweat.'" Clint snickered, earning a small laugh from me and an eye roll from Natasha, who grabbed the keys to the quinjet.

"Come on, tweedledee and tweedledum, let's go to Gotham."

Gotham City

"When you said your cousin was from Gotham, you didn't mention he was Bruce Wayne's son." Clint's jaw was slack at the sight of the mansion as we pulled up in the rental car.

"I didn't think it was important." I shrugged, stepping out of the car. I turned to face Clint and Natasha who both exited the car and came to stand by me. "Well, I guess this is where we say goodbye."

"For now. We will be keeping an eye on you, kid." Nat smiled, pulling me into a hug. I squeezed her tight before moving onto Clint, who kissed the top of my head.

"Take care, Wanda. Call us if you need anything." He ruffled my hair before hopping back in the car, Nat peeling out of the driveway and leaving me alone to face my cousin.

With a deep sigh, I started up the stairs. Once at the top I rang the doorbell, surprised at the speed an older gentleman answered at. "How may I help you, miss?"

"Hi, I am Wanda Maximoff. I am looking for Dick Grayson, he is my cousin." I blurted out, picking at the end of my sleeves. "He does live here, right?"

"One moment, come in." The butler said, gesturing for me to step in the foyer as he closed the door behind me. He wandered deeper into the mansion, leaving me behind to ogle the intricate art that was hanging up everywhere.

I heard a crash and some yelling before multiple footsteps came sounding my way, drawing me out of my day dream from the times Dick, Pietro, and I would play hide and seek for hours. I turned around just in time to see an older but still familiar face standing in the doorway, panting heavily with a bunch of other teens around him. He took a step closer to me, reaching towards me only to retract his hand. "Wanda?"

"În carne și oase." I spoke Romanian, gesturing to myself as I confirmed it was me. "You got a lot taller in the last ten years, Dickie."

Suddenly, I was engulfed in a hug by Dick, him babbling so fast I had to ask him to slow down. He complied, pulling away so he could look me in the eye as he spoke. "I saw what happened in Sokovia, I was so worried about you and Pietro, especially since we lost contact after I left for the circus. Where is Pietro, anyways?" My heart ached as I felt the tears sting my eyes, Dick noticing them immediately. "No, Wanda, not Pietro..."

I nodded, wiping the tears from my eyes. "He was shot down by the robots the Avengers were fighting. He died protecting Clint and a civilian, and I wasn't even there for him. I was selfish and got him involved with Ultron in the first place and he is now dead because of me." I sobbed, viciously dabbing at my eyes. "My brother is dead and I didn't even get to bury him."

"Oh, Wanda. It isn't your fault-" Dick started, only to get cut off by me.

"Yes it is, Dick. When you can do what I can, I could've saved him. But I was not with him when he needed me."

Dick was silent for a moment, a curious look on his face before asking the question on his mind. "What can you do?"

So I showed him and the other teens just what I could do. I let the red power surge through me, lifting me off the ground as I shook the house with the force of my energy. When I stopped, I sheepishly looked at Dick to see his reaction. He just stared at me for a moment before breaking out into a grin. "That is so cool! Could Pietro do that?"

"No, he was very fast though. Like very very fast." I smiled, glad my cousin seemed to accept me.

"Like me." The shorter red haired male spoke up, reminding me that Dick and I weren't alone.

"Who are you?"

"Oh, sorry Wanda. These are my friends. Wally, Artemis, Conner, Kaldur, M'gann, and Roy." Dick pointed to each of them, the teens giving a little wave in return.

"Are they super powered too? Are you?" I looked up to my older cousin, crossing my arms as I waited for an answer.

"Some of them are, but I'm not. Just insanely talented at gymnastics, hacking, and fighting." He smirked, doing a double back handspring to prove his point.

I grinned, glad that I found my final living family member. Maybe things were looking up.

Maybe.
