chapter fifteen
Wanda's POV
My clone laughed emotionlessly, stepping backwards so I could see the full might of the Light and their army of assassins. I just cocked a brow in return, making eye contact with my 'sister' after another quick survey of the enemy. "That's the best you can do? Puh-lease."
The Scarlet Witch shook her head, tsking as she did. "Wanda, dearie, you should know better. I can do everything you can. After all, I am you."
"No, you're the cheap knock off because the real deal can't be contained. You're nothing compared to me." I grinned when I saw the muscle under her right eye twitch. Guess she isn't as emotionless as the Light thought.
"Oh yeah? Could a cheap knock off do this?" The Scarlet Witch's hand shot out, aiming a hex blast at Artemis and Wally.
Before she could fire it, I put a forcefield around the Witch and muttered a quick spell under my breath. "The Scarlet Witch's powers only affect those touched by the Light." I released her from the forcefield, nodding at my clone. "Go ahead, throw that hex blast. I dare you."
"Why you -" She growled, aiming her scarlet hands at me instead. She fired the hex blast hitting me square on the chest and knocking me back into my friends. I groaned, standing up as the Witch cackled. "Aren't so tough now, are you, sister?"
"Oh, you have no idea who you are messing with." My eyes lit up with energy as I flew at the abomination, my hands wrapping around her throat as I tackled her into the army of assassins. The assassins tried to jump at us but I threw them back with a telekinetic blast, narrowing my focus in on my clone. I summoned more energy as I shot a hex bolt at the Scarlet Witch who easily dodged it, the bolt hitting an unassuming assassin instead. Gritting my teeth, I created whips made out of pure scarlet energy and flung them at my knock off, wrapping one around her throat and pulling her towards me. Once she was within range, I punched her in the face, sending her flying backwards.
I taught her that move.
Shut up and fight, Dick.
Oh, right, why are we letting Wanda here have all the fun?
I rolled my eyes as I sensed my friends and the Justice League charge into battle behind me. I was too focused on my clone, who appeared to be unconscious. But I knew looks could be deceiving, so I wrapped her up tightly in chains made of my energy before I turned my attention to finding my secondary target.
Ra's Al Ghul.
I flew up high above the battle as I scoured the scene below me, noticing the aged assassin at the edge of scene observing like the coward he is. With a snarl, I shot a hex bolt at him before landing next to him, scarlet energy pulsing throughout my body and limbs. When the smoke cleared, Ra's stared at me blankly. "Why, Wanda. To what do I owe this pleasure?"
"I think you know, Al Ghul." I spat out, curling my fists at my side and bringing them up in front of my face. In doing so I constricted Al Ghul's airways and he began to claw at his own throat, trying to detach the invisible hands. I grinned sinisterly, tightening my fists even more. "You wanted me dead, but the only death you will get is your own."
"Wanda...look around you...your friends will fear...you..." Al Ghul gasped out pathetically, trying desperately to beg for his life.
I rolled my eyes to the side, noticing Conner and Jason had paused their fighting to watch me curiously. I scoffed, turning back to Ra's. I released my hold on him. "You're right." I sighed, walking up to him and gripping the sides of his head tightly. "So let them." I hissed right before snapping his neck and ending his miserable existence. I looked back over to see Conner had already gone back to fighting but Jason just stared at me, an unreadable expression on his face. "What? You've killed before, why can't I?"
"I didn't say anything." He shrugged, hitting an oncoming assassin with his bo staff. "Besides, you looked hot killing Ra's." He winked before flipping off into battle once more. I shook my head in disbelief, how that boy has time to flirt while we fight for our lives is beyond me.
My moment of calm was taken away too soon when I was slammed by a flying rock. I groaned from the ground, looking up to see my clone floating above me. "Your emotions make you weak, they will be the death of you. Come, sister, join me and we can rule this pathetic world together. No more Light, no more Justice League or Avengers. Just us, the Scarlet Witches."
"Blah blah blah, you talk to much." I flung a hex bolt at her, flying up to meet her in the air. "The world needs a balance, you dumb psychotic."
"But it does not need two Scarlet Witches, apparently." She grunted, eyes turning red as she charged me. I didn't have time to dodge her as she tackled me midair, sending us flying into the building behind the courtyard. "Tell me, sister, how come my powers work on you but not your friends? I heard that little spell you cast, hiding something are we?"
"Nope, I've been under the Light's influence before, therefore I can be harmed by you. Simple as that." I shoved her off me, jumping to my feet and doing a quick scan of the room we landed in. I noticed a sword on a rack above the window so I ran for it, grabbing it just before the Scarlet Witch tackled me once more and we were propelled out the window and onto the courtyard below, landing in a heap of limbs.
I groaned, quickly healing my minor injuries before standing up and facing the Witch with my sword drawn. She spat out some blood, having taken the brunt of the fall. Staring at me with pure hatred in her eyes, she rolled onto her feet and produced her own sword made of scarlet energy before charging at me with a guttural screech. Our swords clashed midair, the sounds reverberating around us loudly. "I shall kill you and take your place. Would your friends even notice, given how alike we are?"
"We are nothing alike, you crazy bitch!" I yelled, kicking at her legs and making her fall. Apparently I underestimated her abilities to hold her own in a physical fight because she was up and running at me in less than two seconds.
"Oh really? I have seen your mind, sister dearest, I know how you operate! You are power mad, even if you won't admit it." She gnashed her teeth at me, grunting when I punched her in the nose.
"Keep dreaming." I screamed in pain when her sword slashed me my arm, a flash of white hot agony burning through my body. I dropped my own sword in the process, leaving my body open to attack and defenseless.
The Scarlet Witch took her opportunity and ran her sword through my stomach, making me gasp in utter shock. "What? Didn't see that coming?"
I moaned in pain, working double time to heal myself and summon my own weapon. I realized a second too late that I should only focus on one when the Witch kicked me in the jaw, sending me toppling to the ground.
Wanda, where are you?
Are you okay? We heard you scream but we can't find you or the clone.
Wanda? Your army disappeared and we could really use so-
I shut myself off from the mind link, gritting my teeth as I realized where my focus should be, consequences be damned. I let the energy flow into the ground and back out into the warriors, summoning them once more as I muttered a very quick spell under my breath. "Staynomatterwhat."
"Pathetic, bested by simple weapons." The Scarlet Witch huffed, putting her sword under my chin. "I am going to relish this moment forever. The Great Wanda Maximoff, slain by her sister."
"We...nngh...aren't sisters." I growled, slapping her sword away and sending a hex bolt at her face, one that only pushed her back a few yards.
She tsked as she approached once more, kicking me in my stomach wound. "Wanda, what aren't you getting? Can't you die with dignity? Like a Goddess should?"
"I am only human, you pathetic knock off." I panted, raising my hand and aiming it at her wrist. "And so are you." I twisted my hand sharply, snapping her wrist that was holding the sword and making her scream in pain.
I rolled over and grabbed the sword, shakily getting to my feet as I aimed the sword at her throat, turning the tables. "Surrender while I still let you live."
She scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Honey, you are the one bleeding to death, you can't be making threats like that."
"Try me."
She bared her teeth diving at me once again. This time I was prepared however as I dove to the side, swinging around to grab her arm and hold it behind her back, pressing her own sword to her throat. She looked at me through her lashes. "I could get out of this easily, you know."
I shrugged carelessly. "Yeah, but you won't."
"Why won't I?"
"You will be too busy dying." I felt the energy flow through me, stronger than it ever had before as I muttered the sentence I never thought I would ever say aloud, holding my clone tightly against me to make sure she would hear me hiss it in her ear.
"No more Scarlet Witch."
