It was a few weeks later. Principal Richards' adopted daughter, Marian, went to our school now. She was famous in Nottingham Middle School. When I first saw her, I was amazed. She, with gorgeous red hair and forrest green eyes, was much prettier than any other girl I'd seen in Nottingham. She had been stunning. Soon after, I had learned that she was a spoiled debutante, adopted into riches and getting anything her little heart desired. In other words, pretty soon, I despised her, with her high-and-mighty attitude and her proud way of carrying herself.

Anyhow, Vice Principal Johnson announced a talent show in a month, where we could show-case any special talent that wasn't dangerous. "Robin," Little John whispered on my left. "Yeah?" I whispered back. "Your archery. Or your swordplay. One of those would guarantee you a win." "Those are just hobbies. I'm not that good." "Yes, you are." "Shh, shhh, shhhhh. They're talking about prizes," I whisper hastily. "The prizes will be ; third place : a fifteen dollar gift certificate to the school store, second place : five no-homework-free-passes! And, finally, the first prize is : this golden pencil, and a one-hundred dollar gift certificate to the school store!" Devon, the hall monitor, chuckled in front of us. He obviously thought he was going to win. Oh, that poor shlub. He didn't stand a chance.

A bit about Devon : he became the hall monitor so that he could yell at random people in the hall. He was nicknamed the Sheriff of Nottingham. He seems to think he's really great at everything.

But he is going down.
