TWENTY-SIX
Y/n'a face felt hot, and her rapid fanning didn't even cool it the slightest. That stupid prince who sat next to her, laughing as if he didn't just kiss her a couple of minutes ago.
The audacity of said man.
Y/n weakly glared at him while he laughed at something Jungkook said. Her merry men sat around in a circle with a small bonfire in the middle. She had food in her hands that she had to put down with how hot her face felt. She felt even more embarrassed knowing Jungkook, Jimin and even Taehyung had saw them kiss after the dance ended.
Taehyung didn't really say much but threw her a wary smile. Jungkook went straight for the teasing and Jimin was going on and on about how he figured something was going on between them. And all the prince did was laugh and held her close so she wouldn't run away from embarrassment. Even now, one arm was placed on her hipbone, every once in a while he'll lightly squeeze her hip to make sure she was still there.
The audacity.
"—Right Y/n?"
She blinked but her pout still present on her lips the moment all the attention went to her. Seokjin currently wasn't there, but he was more than aware of what happened thanks to Jungkook's loud mouth. They all looked at her while Hoseok bit his lip to keep his laughter from slipping out.
"Huh?"
"Are you getting lost in your lover's eyes or what?"
Y/n turned her head. Yoongi was sitting next to her on her left. He raised an eyebrow at her while Jungkook and Jimin snickered at his remark. Y/n immediately smacked his arm with a scowl.
"N—no I'm not! Say that again and you'll lose your sleeping privileges!" Y/n huffed turning her head away. Yoongi hissed as he rubbed his arm.
"Damn. But I already do!"
Y/n scoffed, subconsciously moving closer to Hoseok. She wasn't aware of her actions until Jungkook spoke up.
"Getting all cozy there with the prince, huh?"
Y/n stiffen, her eyes locking with Hoseok's. The prince was smiling wide, his arm still present around her waist. He didn't look ashamed at all. He kissed her cheek while she was still stiff as a rock. That's when it finally kicked in, the laughing and snickering reached her ears. She shoved Hoseok back as usual, using too much of her strength and stumbling backwards off the log and landed on her butt. Hoseok immediately stood up, his arms out and ready to help her up.
"Y/n!—"
Y/n stood up quickly, nearly tripping on her feet but Hoseok had caught her with one arm around her waist. Her face felt like it was on fire. Her glare had shut up the three other men who were snickering and chuckling.
"You okay? You just fell right over do-"
Y/n slapped her palm on his mouth before Hoseok could say the nickname. She gave a weak glare at him to shut him up. She then flickered her eyes back to the three men.
"You three! Stop teasing! And you! Min Yoongi, what happened to not caring?" Y/n shouted, pointing at Yoongi. The lazy cat man looked over to her. He gave a smug grin, scratching under his chin.
"I don't. But I didn't say I wouldn't tease. I've been in this camp for years Y/n, and you think I would slip up a chance to tease you?"
Y/n grumbled, the heat in her cheeks getting hotter. Hoseok removed her hand from his lips, kissing her heated cheek. She stiffen once more.
"Stop threatening them. You know how harmless they are. Especially Jungkook. Last time all it took was pulling his ear and he started crying. Relax dove, why are you so tense?" Hoseok asked, his arm going around her waist. Y/n used her palm to push his face away. But she didn't move and all that did was let Hoseok chuckle at her flushed face.
"I-I'm not tense! Just—"
"Embarrassed?" Hoseok finished with another amused chuckle. This man was getting bolder and Y/n didn't appreciate it. She was supposed to be the bold one, not him. Where has shy Hoseok gone too? She narrowed her eyes at him placing her palm back over his mouth. But Hoseok merely kissed her palm and that was enough for Y/n to jump back with a scream. Hoseok was still smiling happily, his eyes filled with love and warmth despite her being away from him. In all honesty he looked like a love struck puppy.
"Why!? Go away! Leave me!" Y/n shouted more flushed than ever.
"Nope! Oh guys wanna see a neat trick?" Hoseok asked with a sly smile. Y/n froze not liking that mischievous glint in his eye.
"Yes! I do!" Jungkook beamed but Y/n could also hear his mischief. She took one step back while Hoseok took one step forward.
"Hey Y/n!"
"No!"
"Dove, guess what?"
"Nope! Stay back!" Y/n took another step back but didn't see the log behind her and her heel ended up hitting against the log and letting her fall backwards. Hoseok chuckled and walked to her. She was laying on the grass, her legs still on the log she tripped over. He was smiling smugly as he looked down at her flustered form. Her lips were parted and her eyes widen a bit.
"I love you."
"You—stop saying crap like that!" Y/n barked. Her glare meant nothing to him. Hoseok leaned over placing his hands on his knees. His lips pulled into a pout.
"But Y/n you said you loved me too—"
"I did NOT!" Y/n screamed out while everyone started laughing at her misery. Hoseok burst out laughing, laughing so hard he wrapped his arms around his stomach and hunched over nearly falling in the process. Y/n felt hot all around her face to her ears. She sat up, glaring weakly at the prince who couldn't stop laughing. Hoseok's laughter faded into a chuckle. He smiled so wide at her that his eyes started to crinkle.
"I hate you!"
"I love you too my dove. Sorry it's funny though." Hoseok helped her up by extending his hand. Y/n stood up once more and patted down the dirt that started to stain her nice clothes. She had take off the long veil that dragged behind her since earlier people kept stepping on it and being the gentleman he was, Hoseok helped her to take it off. Even now Hoseok helped her pat off the dirt and helped her up. He fixed her stands of hair that were ruffled from her fall all while one hand laid on her hip.
"I think it's funnier because Y/n isn't usually clumsy but the moment Hoseok is around, she's tripping over everything." Jungkook snickered while nudging his elbow against Taehyung who hasn't spoken a word since being there. Y/n glared at the younger male, ready to stomp over him but Hoseok's hand on her hip stopped her. He immediately dragged her back while she huffed.
"Your really asking for it Jungkook." Hoseok warned lightly. He slightly scared what a flustered angry blood filled Y/n would do to Jungkook. He teased her but he knew his limit. Jungkook at this point was asking to get hit. Or worse.
"Am not! Besides it's funny. Miss Hood gets all giggly and cozy with the charming prince." Jungkook grinned.
"Oh I'll show you cozy!—"
"Ah—Dove, how about you finish eating? You haven't even touched your food." Hoseok asked with a nervous smile. Y/n looked at him and frowned.
"Fine I guess. But if one more comment out of Jungkook, then you just lost your best friend." Y/n warned. She walked back to the spot where she sat and grabbed her food. Hoseok only laughed and followed her. Jungkook swallowed thickly with a nervous chuckle. Maybe he really should not push his luck. Who knows what she would've done if Hoseok wasn't there.
"So Y/n, does that mean you and the prince are a thing?" Taehyung's deep voice startled Hoseok for some reason. Hoseok flickered his eyes at the male. Taehyung didn't show any emotion and blankly stared at Y/n. A shiver ran past his spine.
Taehyung had never looked at him like that.
Y/n stopped midway eating her food and place it back on her lap. She nodded but her gaze didn't move from Taehyung. She too could sense the strange tension he was causing.
"Yeah. So?"
"Just confirming that's all. I didn't think you were the type to fall for someone like him."
Hoseok felt a ping of hurt inside his chest. He frowned slightly.
What was that supposed to mean?
"Someone like him? Why? What's wrong with Hoseok?" Y/n asked, sliding her plate to Hoseok's lap and crossed her arms over her chest. The tension grew and everyone shuffled their feet awkwardly.
"He's a prince. He's rich. He's the king son or did you forget?" Taehyung raised an eyebrow while keeping his emotionless expression. Y/n licked her bottom lip, her stare slowly hardening at his remark.
"No. But does it look like I give a sh*t?" Y/n's harsh tone was warning. Warning towards him but he merely ignored it.
"So are you just with him because he's rich? Are you tired of being poor? Are you going to leave this camp and go live in luxury while we suffer?" Taehyung replied sharply.
"So now your a whore?"
Y/n immediately stood up with a dark look. This time Hoseok intervened and stood in the middle of them. Taehyung was about to say something but Hoseok beat him to it.
"Get. The. F*ck. Out."
Everyone turned to look at Hoseok. Y/n flinched slightly at the expression Hoseok gave. His jaw was clenched while his usually bright eyes had darken and glared at Taehyung. His fists clenched almost like he was resisting the urge to punch him.
"What?"
Was all Taehyung could reply with. He was taken back from his sudden tone.
"I know you heard me Taehyung. I don't know what crawled up your a** and died, but that's no reason to call Y/n a whore. Why the hell does it matter she likes me or not? So what if I'm rich or a prince? What does my status have to do with anything?! As if right now I'm just like you! I have no money! Here I am just Jung Hoseok not Prince Hoseok!" Hoseok slowly raised his voice with anger. There was only one time Y/n saw him mad, and frankly she didn't like it. She flinched as he raised his voice. Even Yoongi and Jungkook flinched.
Taehyung was speechless. His eyes widen a fraction. He was prepared for Y/n to scream or yell at him but he wasn't expecting Hoseok to even speak to him. His emotionless expression didn't even last long, replacing with a hint of anger and surprise.
"I don't understand your frustration towards me! You or your brother! I haven't done anything wrong! You guys resent me like it's my fault I fell in love with Y/n! Like it's my fault Y/n felt the same, why is that my fault? I haven't hurt you, I haven't even escape or even tried too! And yet, you resent me for falling in love with Y/n! For what!? Why!?" Hoseok shouted with anger. He took one step closer towards Taehyung. Out of fear, Y/n grabbed his wrist to gently jerk him back. She went to his side and place her hand on his chest. She wasn't angry anymore, if anything she was concern about him. Hoseok didn't even look at her nor reacted to her touch. That caused alarmed to Y/n.
"Hoseok just leave him—"
"Why!? Because everyone knows Y/n was supposed to be with Namjoon! Everyone! Her mother, her father even knew that Namjoon was in love with her! Everyone! He denied it for years so she could naturally fall for him but then here comes this rich kid from the palace and falls for her. Of course I'm mad! I've helped my brother for years and you get her in a matter of months! Months!" Taehyung yelled back. He was breathing heavily from the amount of anger that rushed through his veins. Y/n paled slightly, her eyes widening a bit. She knew where this conversation was heading. And she didn't like it. She hastily cupped Hoseok's face to make him look at her.
"Just forget about it. I'll deal with him later, it's supposed to be a joyous night Hoseok." Y/n smiled weakly. Hoseok nearly melted into her hands and nearly gave in.
"Right. It's supposed to be about your parents and honoring them." Hoseok muttered, nuzzling his cheek against her palm.
"And what would you know about honoring your parents? Your mother is dead and your father is a murder. At least Y/n's parents died out of honor and so did my father. What honor do you have dancing with Y/n when being a murder runs in your blood?" Taehyung splat. Hoseok bit his bottom lip and inhaled sharply. He could handle insults about him. That was easy. He just needed to get away from him for a moment or Hoseok would seriously consider violence.
"Wanna go for a walk dove?" He whispered, trying to ignore Taehyung. Y/n nodded weakly and intertwined their hands. Hoseok kept his head down while Y/n started dragging him away. But Taehyung wasn't done and if wasn't for Jungkook who immediately held him back from going after him, then Hoseok would've gotten into two fights with both brothers on the same day. But once more, that didn't stop Taehyung's mouth from moving.
"She's engaged to Namjoon!"
Hoseok stopped his tracks while Y/n tensed. She slowly looked up to Hoseok who froze. He raised his head up, blinking emotionlessly. He turned his head to face Taehyung with an emotionless expression. Everyone stayed silent, only the sound of crackled fire was heard. Y/n tighten her fingers around his. Her teeth bit her bottom lip. She nearly let out a cry at the lack of reaction from Hoseok.
"She had promised her mother to marry Namjoon. She is betrothed to him. This year was the year they were supposed to get married." Taehyung gritted through his teeth almost like he was spitting out venom through his teeth. The silence was loud and the air thicken. Nearly everyone was holding their breaths from the lack of response coming from Hoseok. He just blankly stared at Taehyung who was still in anger. Hoseok never strayed his gaze from Taehyung but Y/n looked at Jungkook who was still holding Taehyung's arm from moving forward. His eyes swirled with guilt, most likely regretting not telling Hoseok.
Her eyes then flickered to Jimin who was looking down. His head was low and his bangs covered his eyes. She could only imagine what he was thinking. She then looked over to Yoongi. His jaw was clenched while glaring at Taehyung. Yoongi typically never got mad at the three youngest, it was almost rare for him. But that look had said it all. He knew something was up.
Y/n then trailed her eyes back to Hoseok. She felt her lips trembled and her heart was heavy. She wanted to explain to him but the words were stuck in her throat and not a word could even be expressed.
"So?"
Everyone flinched at his cold tone. Hoseok's blank expression turned into a cold one, his icy voice broke the tensed atmosphere. His lips pulled into a frown.
"What do you mean so? She's engaged!"
Hoseok tilted his head back just slightly to glance at Y/n before flickering back to Taehyung.
"You know what you and Namjoon have in common? I thought sh*t like this only happens in royalty but I guess the rich and poor aren't that different after all." Hoseok started.
"What—?"
"I'm not done talking. You and Namjoon both like to treat Y/n like some kind of object. She has every right to say no even if it goes against her mothers wishes, wanna know why? Because she's her own person that can make her own decisions. She's a person. She's not an object, she's not yours or Namjoon. Hell she's not even mine." Hoseok spoke calmly but coldly. Y/n wanted to deny that last part but decided not too. It would ruin the whole point anyway so she stayed quiet and sulked a little.
"If she wants to leave me and marry Namjoon to keep that promise, then that is her decision not mine. Sure it would hurt but I'm not going to force her into doing something she doesn't want to. I would think she's taught you better, after all I was the one that came into this camp thinking all woman could do was sit still and look pretty. At least mine was understandable, my father treated my mother like that. But what's your excuse? What excuse do you have to treat Y/n like an object? When you both were raised in a camp where woman fight and she's their leader. Your f*cking pathetic Taehyung." Hoseok scoffed, squeezing Y/n's hand. Taehyung flinched and stared at him. No words could leave his lips.
What more was there to say?
Hoseok turned to Y/n who was still sulking a bit from earlier but remained quiet. Hoseok wanted to say something but nothing came out and flickered his eyes back to Taehyung.
"Now excuse me, I'm going to go for a walk with my love." Hoseok bowed his head then started dragging Y/n away. Y/n blinked, letting out a surprise squeak at his sudden strength.
"W-wait! Slow down!" Y/n stuttered out. Hoseok ignored her and continued to walk away from the camp. Nothing but the bright moon led him to the River bank. The same one Hoseok always brought her to. Y/n couldn't really tell if he was still mad or not but the way he gripped her hand told her otherwise. At least she assumed. She's never seen Hoseok so serious before. If she wasn't slightly scared then maybe she would admit how hot he looked glaring down at Taehyung.
Y/n wasn't even sure when it grew this bad but she can't really deny that she hates it. What is she gonna do when she's mad at him? What check him out? That didn't sound too bad but then again, she hoped to never argue with Hoseok. She didn't like that expression on him even if he was hot doing it.
'Your bad, you know that right?'
Y/n thinned her lips and sighed quietly to herself.
'Yeah. But Hoseok is worse.'
She blinked out of her thoughts when she felt two hands slip up to her cheeks. Y/n didn't even get to say a word when Hoseok pressed his lips against hers. It was almost concerning how easily she melted into his kiss. His hand slipping down to cup her neck and bring her closer. It only lasted a couple of seconds before he pulled back. He rested his forehead against hers with a long sigh. His eyes were fluttered close, breathing through his mouth.
"Hoseok?"
"Hmm?"
Y/n raised her hand to gently caress his cheek with the back of her palm. He grabbed her hand and kissed the back of her hand with another sigh.
"I love you."
Hoseok's breath hitched. He groaned, opening his eyes slowly. His dark brown eyes twinkled from the moon while they looked at her. Y/n couldn't believe she said that, her own face feeling hot. And that stare he gave her, made her knees buckle.
"Really? Don't do that dove." Hoseok breathed out with another weak groan. Y/n pouted, narrowing her eyes at him.
"Why not? You do that all the time to me."
Hoseok let out a deep chuckle, placing her hand near his mouth again. He released a breath that tickled her hand. She shivered a little while she watched his eyes turn dark. That was definitely not the Hoseok that blushes and gets flushed. No, this was a Hoseok she's never seen.
"Because you saying that only makes me want to kiss you senseless and my dove, that would led to something I don't think your merry men would appreciate." He whispered huskily. Y/n slipped her hand away with a burning face. Hoseok let out an amused chuckle while playfully tapping underneath her chin. The dark glint still there but his eyes shined with happiness and mischief.
"I wanna have kids with you but I think we should wait a little longer, don't you think?" Hoseok winked. Y/n's jaw dropped with wide eyes. Her face now felt like it was on fire.
"H-huh!? KIDS!?"
Hoseok laughed, throwing his head back as the quiet forest echoed his laughter. Y/n frowned, her face still hot as ever.
"Your thinking that far a-ahead?" Y/n asked rather shyly. She place her hands on her cheeks trying to cool them. Hoseok let his laughter die down and smiled.
"Yeah. Wanna know how far I gotten?" Hoseok took her hand, intertwining them. Y/n wanted to say no, but the way he looked at her made her nod her head yes. He beamed, taking her hand and slowly dragging her near the River bank. He sat down while she did the same. But Hoseok lightly nudged her. She looked at him confused.
"Right here. So I can hold you." He patted a spot between his legs with another smile. Y/n was once again going to say no, but complied anyway with a deep frown and cheeks that felt incredibly hot. She huffed, crossing her arms over her chest while Hoseok wrapped his arms around her waist, laying his chin on her shoulder. He leaned her back so her back was touching his chest and relaxed. Y/n tried to act all mad but was slowly relaxing in his arms. Hoseok left a peck on her neck causing her to tense.
"Your pretty." He muttered against her neck. Y/n tried swatting him away. But a fluttering feeling burst in her chest.
"No. Your crazy. I'm supposed to be a leader, a warrior. They aren't supposed to be pretty you know." Y/n huffed. Hoseok hummed and leaned back slightly.
"But you are pretty. Really pretty. Why would I lie?"
"I don't know maybe because your in love with me? Love makes you blind." Y/n scoffed, ignoring the way her body craved his warmth. She refused to relax, she was still slightly mad at him for earlier about him kissing her in front of people. Though in reality it was only her merry men that saw and no one else.
"Warriors can be pretty though. Besides, when people say love makes you love, that's not what they mean my dove." Hoseok chuckled, one hand still present on her waist while the other supported his body up. He leaned back to admire the way the moonlight fell on her face. The way her hair fell effortlessly on her shoulders. The way the moon sparkles in her eyes while she stared off. The way her clothing hugged her and made him internally thank Seonghwa for creating such an outfit for her. His hand slipped up just a few inches upwards and lightly squeezed her waist.
Y/n glanced at him, her face cooling from the cool breeze. His eyes didn't even waver when their eyes met. His chest fluttered while his eyes swelled up with love and adoration.
"I wanna marry you." He blurted out. Y/n's face immediately grew hot as her eyes widen.
"What?!"
Hoseok place his other hand on her waist, letting both hands relax near her lap. He didn't say anything for a moment and that made Y/n wonder if he regretted the words that left him.
"I want to marry you. Then you can be by my side, my Queen for the rest of my life. And then—" Y/n's palm covered his lips while he looked at her a bit startled.
"H-Hoseok, you know I can never be Queen. What nonsense are you speaking?" Y/n stuttered. She had turned her body and left her palm over his lips. Hoseok soften his stare, his hand moving her palm away.
"What is a leader different from a Queen? You don't deserve any less my dove. When I'm king, I'll take you as my Queen. Only, if you agree of course. As much as I love you, your opinion matters the most." Hoseok had spoke softly. Y/n swallowed thickly, her face feeling hot as ever. Her silence didn't really give him an answer so he continued.
"And once your my Queen, we'll get married and then have two kids. One boy and one girl. Then I'll make sure everyone had enough money to flourish and stand on their own. They wouldn't need to steal or starve just to survive. Find new ways to help the farmers corp and—"
"Kids? Why only two?" Y/n asked, sitting back in the position she was before. Her back was touching his chest while she stared into the sky and watched the stars sparkle. Hoseok let his hands wonder back to her waist as he let out an amused chuckle.
"Why? Want more?"
Y/n scoffed and crossed her arms over her chest once more.
"No. I'm just asking why that specific amount. What if I didn't want any?"
"Hmm then I wouldn't mind. After all my dove, you would be the one carrying them. As much as I do, I would never force it upon you. But I say two simply because one boy and one girl would be cute. I only so far have chosen the girl name. But ultimately that's up to you." Hoseok smiled, holding her closer.
"Really? And what name is that?"
"Diana."
Y/n burst out laughing and shook her head.
"Diana? Really? That's such a boring name. No daughter of mine would be name something as boring as that. I expected way better considering your a prince." Y/n laughed out. Despite her teasing, Hoseok couldn't stop the fluttering she caused with her words. Rather she was aware what she said or not, Hoseok didn't care and couldn't let this chance slip up.
"Do you even know what Diana means?" Hoseok asked, squeezing her waist once more.
"Probably something boring with a name like that." Y/n chuckled out.
"It means divine. Diana was a Roman goddess and was known for hunting and the forests. She was consider beautiful." Hoseok started. He left small butterfly kisses along her neck as he spoke.
"And I had thought, since you are beautiful and strong, then certainly our daughter would be the same."
Y/n moved away from him and fan her face with a grumble. Her heart couldn't take that confession. Why was he so sappy around her? It just wasn't fair. Hoseok laughed, pulling her back as he place one kiss on her neck again.
"So, is it boring now?"
"N-no. I guess it's kinda of pretty. Hoseok you flatter me too much." Y/n grumbled.
"I can't help it. Especially no one ever flatters you about how pretty you are. Not saying that you aren't talented either, your amazing and a great fighter—and l-leader!" Hoseok blushed at his stuttering his expression being all too familiar with Y/n. She laughed, her own cheeks heating up from his words. She calmed herself, smiling wide. Hoseok's heart flutter, her eyes looking up at him. She was relaxed in his arms finally.
"Come on that's not fair!" Hoseok groaned, hiding his face into her neck. Y/n laughed once more, her hand playing with his hair.
"What are talking about?"
"I'm trying to be romantic and I not trying to melt by you looking at me! But god the moment you smile at me, all I want to do is kiss you and melt." Hoseok squeezed her once more with another groan, almost like he was whining. Y/n giggled, getting his hand and placing a kiss on them.
"But I like you like this. In fact, I love you like this."
Hoseok's breath hitched, moving his head to face her once more. Y/n was smiling, her face glowing under the moonlight. Hoseok let his eyes stare and awe at her beauty. His eyes drank every drop of memory it could, every feature, every light and touch soaked in his brain like a sponge. He wanted to drink in the moment as much as he could.
But he couldn't.
The moment only had seconds to be ingrained into his brain before the moment was ruin.
By flames.
Flames that engulf the forest and devoured the trees. The ground, the grass, the bushes and even the tents. People screamed and cried for help.
Hoseok got up so fast and so did Y/n. His heart raced while Y/n started running towards the flames.
"Wait! Y/n!!" Hoseok ran after her.
Y/n pushed away the bushes and trees that scratched her face. Her breathing became heavier and the screams became louder.
"No. No. Nononono!" She yelled. She heard the sound of horses galloping around. People yelling and swords being unsheathed. The thumping of her heart only increased. She should've never relaxed. Now her camp is getting eaten by flames. She should've been more alert. She shouldn't have left.
She stopped at the sight of her camp. Everything was on fire and burned to the skies. Horses galloped through while people ran.
Soldiers.
About a dozen ran through with their swords. The sky was dark while they ran through.
"There's one more here!"
Y/n's ears barely registered what the soldier had said. About four ran towards her with their swords raised. She was frozen.
Why?
She should've ran.
But all her eyes could do was stare.
They came closer and closer.
"Stop!"
Hoseok ran in front of her, his hands out to keep her protected. He was panting heavily, a thin layer of sweat covered his forehead. The soldiers stopped abruptly, pulling their horses from moving.
"The prince! Your highness! We have found you!" One yelled almost gleefully. But Hoseok wasn't smiling, his expression cold and serious. It was a chilling sight to see. Y/n reached out and grabbed a hold of his shirt. She gripped on to it tightly.
"So that's what this raid is?! You hurt many just for what!?" Hoseok snapped.
"I-I well yes your highness. We had gotten a tip that you were here a-and the last we heard you were captured by Robin Hood." The soldier explained, startled at his coldness.
"Well I'm not! I escaped from Robin Hood months ago and have been living in this village! As your prince, I want you to take out these fires." Hoseok shouted.
"I am sorry your highness, but by order of the king, anyone hiding the prince shall be punished." Another soldier spoke emotionless. Hoseok gritted through his teeth, glaring at the soldier.
"They didn't hide me."
'I stayed here, willingly.'
"But they didn't return you either. Now we must return quickly your highness, or the king would only send more soldiers." The soldier spoke. Hoseok clenched his jaw with a sharp inhale.
His time was up.
He knew that, but he still wanted to stay. He wanted to be with—
The screams of people echoed through his ear and the loud fire crackling was all that took him to remember why he couldn't stay any longer. He was selfish and foolish for thinking that.
"Fine."
Was all Hoseok said. He started walking to one of the horses. Y/n panicked, reaching out with a cry.
"Hoseok!"
A soldier slapped her cheek, making her flinch.
"You are not to address the prince as so, you worthless peasant."
Hoseok turned his head, nothing but anger filled him. He shoved the soldier away with a glare. The soldier stumbled back wide eyes.
"Do not touch any of them. Do you understand?" Hoseok growled out. The soldier nodded fearfully and moved back onto his horse. Hoseok looked at her, softening his expression. He helped her stand straight. He gave her a weak smile. Y/n felt tears cloud her vision as she trembled. He held her hands.
"I love you so much. Don't forget that, okay? I'll be back soon. Don't cry, don't do that." He whispered, his voice wavering slightly. Y/n didn't even know when but the tears spilled from her eyes.
"H-Hoseok. You can't l-leave, please." She whimpered, squeezing his hands. Hoseok took a deep inhale while smiling at her.
"I'll be back. I promise." Hoseok place a kiss on her hands before walking away. Y/n tried to reach out to him with tears clouding her vision. Her throat stuck with a sob. She saw him mount the horse, her ears buzzing. She saw the soldier yell and the horses galloping away. She fell on the ground while her eyes never left Hoseok's back. He turned to look at her once more. Y/n took all the energy she had, and let out one last scream before her words became too incoherent for anyone to understand.
Hosoek smiled sadly as the words reached his ears. He turned his head forward, otherwise he might've just jumped off the horse and ran to her. He fluttered his eyes close while letting his mind remember as much as it could.
'I love you!'
'I love you too Y/n.'
