Chapter Two
Sunlight filtered through his window, shining on his pale skin. He shivered, recalling the horrifying dream he had nearly every night. This time though, he did not die. A man had saved him—a man in a bat-shaped cowl. It was Batman, that much Dick knew. He figured the new twist to the dream had been due to the fact that Bruce had told him he was ready to meet the Justice League. However, he told them about Robin, not about Dick. Batman had kept secret the fact that he was Bruce Wayne, and he was planning to keep secret the fact that Robin was Dick Grayson. Dick felt nervous. What if the 'mini Justice League' made fun of him? Bruce said that the adults wouldn't—they were too nice--but the 'mini Justice League' as Batman called them, might not be so mature. Dick knew he was short—shorter than them—so he wore special boots that would make him taller. He stood and put on a fresh pair of clothes—a black hoodie with a yellow tee shirt—and went downstairs, where Alfred would no doubt have breakfast ready. "Buna dimineaţa Bruce," he said, passing the man who stood outside. He stopped, remembering that Alfred was the only one who had learned his language, Romanian. "G-good morning Bruce," he said shakily. He wasn't very good at English yet. He knew most sentences, but he still had trouble with a few, like 'good morning' and 'nice to meet you.' He was learning more at school every day, but today was Saturday, and Dick's brain kind of shut down on weekends. Bruce nodded. "Good morning Dick. Are you ready?" "R-Ready for w-what?" He asked, struggling through his sentence. "To meet the Justice League," Bruce said. "They won't wait forever."
