Epilogue

9 years later

"ZHONG CHENLE, I SWEAR TO GOD YOU BETTER GET YOUR ASS UP AND HELP ME OVER HERE!"Jaemin shouted from the living room.

"I'VE ALREADY TOLD YOU I'M IN A MEETING OVER HERE. I HAVE A COMPANY TO RUN FOR GOD'S SAKE!"Chenle shouted back from the other side of the living room.

"MEETING MY FOOT, I'M PRETTY SURE YOU ARE JUST PLAYING GAMES AND RUNNING FROM YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES. SO GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE AND HAND ME THE BALLOONS BEFORE JIAN COMES AND THROWS YOU OUTTA THE WINDOW!" Jaemin shouted.

Grandma sighed from the kitchen and shook her head as she lifted the lid of the pot she was cooking in. Warm and delicious fragrance hit her nose immediately,"These children would never change."

The beautiful girl that was with her in the kitchen chuckled,"You are right, grandma. They would never change."

Grandma turned back and smiled at Nara, Jaemin's beautiful wife, who was busy decorating the delicious goodness of a cake she just baked for today's occasion. It looks beautiful and absolutely delicious. Of course it's different when a professional baker bakes something.

"Sometimes I think Jaemin is more childish than Nahyun and all the other kids at his kindergarten,"Nara said and smiled as she was finished decorating the cake.

"You would think Chenle would stop being childish now that he's ceo of such a big company but look at him now. He's definitely fighting over there about something very silly,"Grandma said while turning the stove off as the kimchijjigae was ready.

"Oh, is it ready?"Nara asked and came close to smell it,"Woah, as expected smells delicious."

Grandma smiled,"Now some more cooking is left."

"Yes, grandma, I would help you with the rest. Let me come after showing them the cake!"Nara said and excitedly took her cake to show both Jaemin and Chenle who were in the living room fighting about the balloon arrangements and the placement of the poster they made.

"Guys, the cake is done!"Nara said while holding the cake tray.

"Woah! Nara, it's beautiful!"Chenle said and smiled.

"As expected from my honey,"Jaemin said as he came and flung his arm around her shoulder lovingly in front of Chenle who was still awfully single. Chenle rolled his eyes and went back to blowing balloons.

Nara smiled shyly.

"What flavor is it, honey?"Jaemin asked looking at the cake.

"It's strawberry!"

Jaemin pouted,"Why honey, you know I hate strawberry."

Nara smiled,"I know but Jian told me he likes strawberry a lot. Gotta honor him, right?"

Before Jaemin could answer a tiny voice said,"Daddy..I like stawwberry too!"

Jaemin and Nara quickly looked down and saw their adorable three year old looking at them with dreamy eyes. She was just playing in Jian's room. Now she's waddled her way here.

"Aww..right..our Nahyunie likes strawberries, so daddy should eat at lot of them!"Jaemin said while picked the adorable Nahyun up in his comfortable arms. Nahyun smiled in his arms.

Chenle who is self proclaimed her favorite uncle ever also smiled at the sight of Nahyun and ran down to pick her up as well. Nahyun happily went to Chenle's arms while Jaemin just smiled and put his arm around his wife again.

Grandma smiled seeing the beautiful scenery from the kitchen. Oh how far each and everyone of them came. Did they know nine years ago that they would come this far? Did Jaemin know that he would be able to find love again and get to marry this girl that loves him with her whole heart and have such a beautiful family? Did he know that he would be able to become a kindergarten teacher as he hoped? Did Chenle know that he would become this successful with his business? Did he know that he would be so happy in life with his work and Daegal even though he hasn't found a girlfriend yet. Honestly no one knew.

As if cue, Daegal ran in from the backyard and stood by her dad.

Honestly after what grandma got to know the day of Jian's csats results shocked her. Jian had come clean about his whole story. All of it was hard to digest. But grandma accepted it slowly but surely. She doesn't regret her decisions of letting him in their life. They all are so happy it's all thanks to him. Jian is so happy and successful in her life it's all thanks to him. Oh right..where is she?

"Hey! Do you all know if Jian started yet? If she doesn't start by now she's gonna be very late!"Grandma shouted.

Jaemin turned around,"Yeah grandma. Taehyung hyung was supposed to pick her up. I think he did and they started already."

"Thank God. Remind them to get tofu! Tradition is tradition after all!"Grandma shouted.

"Yes grandma, I did,"Chenle shouted.

"I think we should get back to the preparations now. We don't have much time left!"Nara said.

"Yes! Let's all get to work again,"Jaemin said with huge smile,"It's a big day today."

A very big one indeed.

"I am done examining. It seems to be that Sparkles has Parainfluenza. But do not worry as it is indeed curable with some antibiotic treatment,"Jian said while gently stroking the cute white puppy,"I have already written down the names of her meds and doses. Please try them for five days, she should be fine. And if she is still continues to sneeze and cough please visit me again."

The boy that had brought Sparkles to Jian kept staring at her thinking about something without replying. Jian was confused so she asked again,"Hoon-sshi?"

He snapped out of his thoughts and looked embarrassed,"Oh I'm so sorry, Dr.Jung. I was spacing out a bit. Can you tell me again?"

Jian nodded and repeated all she had said once again. He listened attentively and was very thankful to get Sparkles checked up. Before he left her chamber he once again turned at her and asked,"Dr.Jung, if you don't mind can I ask a question?"

"Sure, ask away!"

"Umm..Dr.Jung, do you play video games?"

"Huh?"Jian asked.

"I've been thinking that you look familiar now that I think of it, you really look like one of my favorite streamers 'RainyNight'. She always wears a mask but her hair is just like yours and..her eyes too."

Jian smiled,"I don't.."

"Ah, once again, there's no way you can be her. She's..she's..interesting,"Hoon
said having flashbacks of the times 'RainyNight' was cursing and screaming like a crazy lunatic during streams. There's no way Dr.Jung is that as he has looked her up online before coming here. Everyone was saying how polite and she was.

Hoon must've mistaken. He bowed to Jian before heading out. In front of the clinic Hoon was standing while waiting for a taxi when he somehow managed to eavesdrop a conversation of some of the younger doctors and a few nurses.

"Do you know yesterday Dr.Jung stroke again?"One of the younger doctors said.

"Again??!!"

"Yes! She again went to a house where a pet cat was being neglected..and she climbed the boundary wall and got the cat! The cat's at the rescue center now and the family is being investigated for negligence,"The doctor said,"I was with her so I know!"

"You were?"One of the nursed said,"Did you climb up the wall with her?"

"No..well..she told me to stand beside the boundary wall and call the animal rescue team as she climbed the wall in the middle of the night,"He said, slightly embarrassed.

"Oh my God, how many times has she done stuff like this? Even I'm scared for her? Is she not afraid of the consequences?"A nurse said.

"No, she doesn't care as long as she can save the pets and animals. And somehow the families never press charges against her. I think they always get scared of her aura or something. She is really scary when she wants to be!"The Doctor said.

"Damn, Dr.Jung is wild,"Another young doctor said,"But so cool. How can someone be so cool?"

Hoon was stunned to hear that. Even Dr.Jung was a bit crazy. So does that mean she is indeed the streamer 'RainyNight'?

After Hoon left Jian's phone buzzed with a message from Taehyung saying he's almost reached the front of the clinic. Jian quickly got up and took off her doctor's coat and fixed her outfit looking in the mirror. She let down her dark blue hair one loose, her formal attire making her look elegant and smart. She had cleared up her whole schedule for the rest of today and the entirety of the next day which was extremely hard taking in account her busy and packed schedule. Being at her chamber, giving lectures in a renowned university of Seoul twice every week, volunteering, rescuing animals and playing video games at night. Bet you all thought she would give up her wish of being a video game streamer. She has always tried to distance her personal life from her work life. She can't let people in her workplace know how crazy she actually is. Well..that actually know she is a bit..crazy..judging by the way she rescues animals..but they don't need to know more, do they?

That's why she always wears a mask while steaming but judging by the way Hoon could point out similarities she was starting to think if she should up her disguise game. Guess she will ask from the expert very soon.

Jian got out from the chamber with a huge smile on her face and looked around to see Taehyung. In front of the clinic she was few of the interns and the nurses talking very seriously. One of the intern's under her Haejoon was leading the conversation. Looks like he is talking about the mission she went to last night with him even though she forbade him to tell anyone this. There's no point of anyone knowing her extent of craziness.

She went in the middle of the conversation and grabbed his ear,"Didn't I tell you to keep your mouth shut?"

He started panicking,"Sunbae, sunbae..I'm really sorry but we're just talking about how cool you were last night. No one else would know I promise."

Everyone quickly nodded.

Jian sighed and let go,"I'm letting you do today cause I'm in a really good mood. And you guys don't ever do what I did last night. Don't follow my footsteps in this direction, it's scary and borderline illegal. So don't ever. Got it?"

Everyone nodded again in pure awe. They all find her really cool and look up to her.

"Sunbae, I had a few questions. Can I send them to you?"Another one of the interns asked.

She nodded,"Sure. I would try to answer as fast as I can. But I'm gonna be busy for the next few days though."

The intern smiled and said,"Sure! I would be beyond grateful."

As someone once had guessed that Jian would grow up to be one hell of an amazing, charismatic, reliable woman who is slightly..to be honest..really crazy..Jian had grown up to be exactly that woman. Some of her childishness was left in her but she doesn't mind it too much. She really wonders how shocked the eighteen year old her would be seeing her like this? How shocked would she actually be? Jian is sure she could've believe it.

"Dr.Jung, Ive been meaning to ask, is something good happening? You look really really happy today. The smile wouldn't leave your face,"One of the nurses said.

Jian tried to maintain her calm since the morning. But she couldn't hide how happy and excited she actually was. She was unknowingly smiling since morning. Looks like it was pretty obvious. Jian tried to stop smiling at the question and simply answered,"Well..I guess."

That's when Taehyung's Mercedes Benz stopped in front of them and rolled down the windows. Taehyung smiled and signed her to hop in. So she bid them bye and quickly hopped in the passenger's seat of Taehyung's car.

Taehyung was also as happy and as excited as her. He also couldn't stop smiling,"Let's go!"

"Oppa, wait, can you take me the flower shop right down the road first?"

Taehyung nodded,"Sure."

As Taehyung stopped in front of the flower shop Jian quickly got down and picked up the flowers she had already placed an order for. After taking the beautiful bouquet of white roses Jian quickly jumped in the car and fastened her seat belt.

"Woah, white roses again?"Taehyung asked and chuckled.

"Yeah...the last attempt of giving them was a huge flop. I'm hoping it would work this time,"Jian chuckled,"Oh Oppa, you didn't forget to bring tofu did you?"

"No, I didn't. They're at the backseat. So we all are ready! Let's go!"

"Let's go!"

The journey was long but enjoyable. This journey was the build up to something amazing. So this was also fun.

On the way Jian's dad had messaged her saying 'Fighting' knowing what day today is. Jian smiled at the text, didn't reply. Surprisingly her relationship with her dad was getting better very slowly but surely. He had apparently read Nina's letter that Jian had given him. That made him feel remorse slowly. So he came back to Korea after her results, took care of grandma and then had a heart to heart with Jian finally where he admitted his mistakes and Jian complained how unfair he was. From there they are slowly building a relationship. And also Jian has fixed things with Eric as well, when she went to America two years back for a seminar. He finally apologized sincerely for hurting her and Jian was ready to accept his apology finally. She always in her heart knew that she would be able to accept his apology when right time comes. And it came and now they are back on good terms. Maybe not as good of friends as they were 15 years ago but good enough for now.

On the way lighting struck and wind was blowing rapidly. Big indication that would start pouring soon.

"Oh no,"Taehyung turned to Jian who had no change of expression whatsoever.

After all that went down and she was finally got admission to college, a certain someone had ordered Taehyung to fulfill some duties. One of them being to get Jian to therapy about her trauma. She didn't want to get any therapy claiming she's completely fine and too busy for that shit. But the certain someone had made clear through phone calls, letters and during visits that how upset he would be if she doesn't get therapy. So in the end she was forced in therapy and was surprised how efficiently the sessions worked. She is proud to say that she no longer suffers from panic attacks during rains. Rain does remind her of her sister but of only good memories now. Now she feels like Rain is one way to feel close to her sister and to him. Even when they both were far away from her during rain she felt like they were really close to her. It's all thanks to him.

Rain really started pouring when they were driving through a lonely road and were really close to their destination. So close that Jian's heart was going bonkers. It felt like it was gonna burst with excitement. Jian looked at the rain and smiled.

Unnie..I made the right choice by waiting, right?

"Inmate 9256, discharged,"The prison officer announced with a small smile,"Take all your belongings and I hope we never see you back here again."

Baekhyun smiled ear to ear,"You would never see me back here again."

All the prison officers had come to bid him farewell. Byun Baekhyun was one memorable prisoner truly.  As per his character he had quickly made friends with literally everyone in the prison even the prison guards. They all are happy for him.

Baekhyun had gotten the maximum sentence of 12 years. But thanks to his food behavior, amazing lawyers and a few secret connections pulled by Yunho, Baeknyun was about to get out in nine years. Baekhyun doesn't know that Yunho had pulled strings and Yunho has no plans of letting him know. That was the least he could do for his younger brother. Baekhyun was promised all the four things he asked for. No one in the media knows his identity even though everyone was losing their minds over him. No one could find out anything about him. All they found out was that Night Rain was sentenced. No one even knew what prison he was in. He was in Korea's most high security prison. A lot of people thought he would break out from prison, he was more than capable of doing so. But he never had any intention of doing that. He wanted to serve his sentence properly.

The past nine years for Baekhyun were tough. But making friends, frequent visits and hope for a happy future kept him sane. These nine years felt like a dark tunnel but he was sane because he knew she would be standing there for him at the end of the tunnel as his light. That kept him going. He still to this date doesn't regret his decision of leaving that part of his life behind. He is beyond excited to start afresh. With his loved ones by his side. As a happy human who doesn't need other people's praises to feel validated or needs copious amounts of adrenaline rush to fill the emptiness of his heart.

The huge prison gates opened. Baekhyun could finally breathe. Baekhyun finally got out with all of his things including his precious Bambi plushie. He had revived one big umbrella as it was raining heavily outside.

As Baekhyun stepped outside finally he saw the rain.

Oh how beautiful it was!

The sky, the breeze, the smell everything felt so beautiful, fresh and free.

And as Baekhyun had hoped. He had finally reached the end of the tunnel as he saw his light, the love of his life, waiting for him in front of a Mercedes with a bouquet of white roses. When she saw him, she didn't care about the rain, didn't care about anything, she ran. Straight towards him and jumped into his arms, holding onto him like he was the most precious thing in her life. The umbrella dropped from his hand, getting both of them drenched. But they couldn't have cared less. He picked her up while holding her tightly and she buried her face in his neck as she finally said with a shaky voice,"Byun Baekhyun, you better not fucking leave me ever again."

Baekhyun smiled,"I won't ever. No matter what happens."

Jian finally looked at his face, looking like she was on the top of the world. Happy. Seeing her like this Baekhyun again felt reassured that these nine years were worth it. So worth it.

Jian finally leaned in and pressed her lips on him. He smiled in the kiss and slowly let her down while kissing her back. Finally. They were finally together. That kiss contained so many emotions, so much unsaid words, so much longing and lastly so much love, it was magical.

It is true that physical distance is nothing if you have an emotional connection as strong as them. But this still feels surreal.

After the small yet meaningful kiss Jian looked at him and said,"I always wanted to kiss in the rain. It was in my secret wish list."

Baekhyun smiled,"Now that I'm back, we can fulfill more of your wishes."

Jian smiled,"Thanks for coming back, Byun Baekhyun. I love you."

"Thanks for waiting for me, Jung Jian,"Baekhyun said while looking at Jian on whom rain was pouring on, she was crying, but this time not because of fear, because of happiness,"We both have come really far, Jung Jian."

"And we will go further,"Jian smiled in between her tears.

Baekhyun also smiled,"Of course, we will."

As he was looking at her face, he realized you can actually tell tear drops apart from rain drops even when rain is pouring down. Or did he notice it because he notices all the even slightest details about Jian?

That is how two very lonely people met, their weird first meeting led to them living together, becoming close despite of their age gap, completed each other, became lovers and walked towards the road of their beautiful life together. Without any fears, always sticking together. Bickering, nagging and fighting were their love language. And they will live a happily ever after.

Wait..are we forgetting about someone?

"Y'all do know that I'm here too, right?"Taehyung who was standing under an umbrella against his car and was forced to watch their prolonged PDA asked.

Both Jian and Baekhyun turned to him, immediately feeling apologetic. Baeknyun ran and gave him a big bear hug, getting all of Gucci wet but he couldn't help but smile. All his annoyance from earlier vanished. His elder brother has finally returned after all.

After the hug session Taehyung finally gave him the tofu to eat,"If you don't eat this right now, grandma might kill all of us. Traditions are traditions after all!"

Baekhyun smiled and took a bit of the tofu.

Both Taehyung and Jian smiled.

"We're good to do now. Let's go!"Taehyung said.

"Yes, everyone must be waiting,"Jian said,"Let's go!"

"Let's go."

Baekhyun happily said while getting in the car. Jian and Taehyung also got in the car and Taehyung had started driving.

Jian looked at Baekhyun and smiled while holding his hand.

That's how a boomer and a troubled teenager's story ended.

A high profile criminal and a borderline lunatic..meant to be, right?

That's a wrap on 'Robbing the decade between us'!! It is raining cats and dogs over here, such a perfect time to end the book! Yay! I had so much fun writing it! I hope you all had fun reading it too. Please tell me how you felt reading the story. Not to be biased I really love Jian.

This was again one of my weird ideas that don't necessarily make any sense. To be honest, none of my stories make any sense, do they? For me these stories are a way where I try to detach myself from the reality for a few hours...so all of them are my own fantasy world.

I recognize that there are a lot of things that are problems. Like I still to this date can't figure out Korean aging system so can we please pretend like all the ages here are according to the American standard time. And I really winged a lot of stuff. I really should've done more research but I didn't have enough time. I hope y'all aren't too angry at me for this!

And also this story has become so damn huge with so many chapters. Oh God. It certainly wasn't my plan as I dislike big stories personally. But this book just developed a mind of it's own and I couldn't stop writing. And also guys I haven't edited it yet you can definitely tell by the amount of mistakes there are here, but I surely will find a time to edit the story.

I will stop making your eyes hurt more and show myself out. But I will soon be up with another story. I have so many story ideas written in a bundle of papers, it's unbelievable. I always pick a certain one to start but then end up writing another one *sigh*. Like I was supposed to start a Pjm circus ff but started this story without any mental preparation just because it's the rainy season here. But this time I'm determined that I'm gonna start a jjk fanfic for his birthday. To be honest I'm not even sure but for now that's the plan. I have so many Baek ff ideas as well. God knows when I will start writing them. May God help me.

Anyways I hope we can meet in my next book.

I will actually really leave now.
