"Whatcha doing?"

Jian looked away from the tv screen and to Baekhyun who was leaning against the wall of the living room.

"Trying to watch a movie, that recently came out,"Jian said while focusing on the tv screen and trying to find the movie on Netflix.

"Oh, I could use some movie time,"Baekhyun said,"I was getting really bored anyway."

"You're not gonna like it,"Jian said still trying to find her movie.

"Why?"Baekhyun asked while coming and sitting on the couch beside her.

"It's a horror movie. And I heard your record with horror movie isn't that great," Jian said.

Baekhyun's face fell,"What do you mean my record isn't that great?"

"Taehyung Oppa told me that once you and your friends went to a theatre to watch a horror movie and that night you, your friend Taeyong and Lucas had to sleep in the same bed because y'all were scared."

Baekhyun's face turned red,"What no? That isn't even true. Don't listen to Tae's bulls.."

"He even said he has pictures but go off I guess."

"You and Taehyung really need to stop texting each other. Or God knows what he's gonna spill," Baekhyun said sighing,"And I really am not scared of any horror movies or anything. I'm Night Rain for God's sake."

"Hush, grandma will hear you,"Jian said and smiles in victory as she finally found the movie, "Found it!"

But before pressing on the movie she looked at Baekhyun,"Are you gonna watch it? I highly recommend to not. It might be too much for your chicken.."

"Don't say another word. And I'm not a chicken. I'm gonna watch this movie and don't you even pay heed to the rumors about me being scared about any horror movie. Play it. Let's see what they got," Baekhyun was trying to sound confident but anyone in the world could tell he's pretending to be confident even when he knows that he's gonna regret it soon.

"Are you sure? It's gonna be scary. Really."

"I'm sure."

"Really?"

"Yes. Just play it."

Jian shrugged and played it,"Don't regret it later."

"I ain't regret nothing,"Baekhyun said and turned to the screen and screamed loudly seeing a headless woman on the screen and hugged a pillow.

Jian was judging him for getting scared so fast. Baekhyun looked at Jian after calming down a bit,"Why're you looking at me?"

"Chicke.."

"Don't you dare call me a chicken. I was a bit scared because they showed a freaking headless woman as the opening scene. Which movie does that? Such a disappointment, they are giving the plot away already.."Baekhyun kept defending himself nonstop.

"Relax, I was asking if we should order chicken,"Jian giggled, not being able to control herself cause he looks so cute.

"Oh chicken? I guess we can get chicken,"Baekhyun said, trying to play it cool as if he wasn't shouting hysterically two seconds ago.

Jian smirked and opened a delivery app on her phone,"We should also turn the lights off."

"Why? The lights are fine.."

"There's no fun of watching horror movies with lights on. Why? Are you scared."

"No, not at all. I, myself will go and turn the lights off. I am not scared."

Jian smirked again as he went to turn the lights off.

The rest of the movie night went very very interesting. It was dark, spicy, filled with muffled screams and enjoyment like every other Netflix and chill. Except for the fact that it was due to completely different different circumstances.

Dark because the lights were off, hot cause the chicken they ordered was really spicy, muffled screams Baekhyun was too proud to admit that he was scared of the movie in front of Jian and was holding back his screams and hiding behind the pillow everytime a scary scene came thinking Jian couldn't see him because she was too focused on the movie. But for Jian Baekhyun's actions were far more enjoyable than the movie.

And another weird thing was every time an explicit scene came on Baekhyun covered Jian's eyes. It was an American movie so explicit scenes came quite often.

"Bruh, I grew up in America and I'm over eighteen. Move your damn hand,"Jian said while trying to move his hands from her eyes.

"No," he said sternly," These will pollute your mind..which is already polluted proven by your playlist but still."

"What the heck is that supposed to mean?"

She could hear Baekhyun's chuckle. But he didn't remove his hand until those scenes were over.

At last they were even fighting over the last fried chicken like children. And then they fought over the remaining soda.

By the end of the movie, Baekhyun was completely drained. He looked like he saw some shit he wasn't supposed to see. But he still played it cool and didn't admit to any of it to Jian and pretended as if he loved the movie and that it was a 'Oscar worthy masterpiece'.

"Do you wanna watch another one then?"Jian asked jokingly.

"Oh,"Baekhyun causally got up,"Now that I think about it, I have some work to do. Sadly I will have to pass on the offer. See you later, bye,"Baekhyun said while walking out of the living room quickly.

"Chicke-"

"I'M NOT A CHICKEN! I HAVE WORK!"

"Relax, I was just saying the chicken was tasty. Don't you think?"

"Yeah," Baekhyun said and stomped away, completely missing the smile on Jian's face.

Well...that was a weird version of 'Netflix and Chill'.

It was 1 am of the same night. Jian had checked the weather forecast and it was supposed to rain around this time. Rain didn't start yet but Jian still doesn't feel good. She feels restless, can't sleep and can't even focus on her games. So she got up from her gaming chair and opened the door of her room to go and get some water to drink. When she stepped out of the room she saw that the lights of the living room were on. Jian was confused and tiptoed her way to the living room. On the living room she saw someone sitting on the couch with a blanket covering them completely. Jian cleared her throat and immediately the blanketed person got up and got into a fighting stance while peering their face out of the fluffy blanket,"You got nothing on me, Judy!"

"What the exact hell?"Jian asked looking at Baekhyun.

When Baekhyun saw Jian his cheeks immediately turned red and stood straight still hugging his blanket,"Oh its you. I thought.."

"You thought Judy came to kill you?"Jian asked while smirking. Judy was the ghost they saw in tonight's movie,"And why're you even here? Like this?"

"I was just trying to..meditate?"

"Sure you were."

"Why are you smirking like that you brat?"

"It's just my first time seeing a grown ass man be so scared of.."

"I told you I'm not scared! It's just..what do y'all say? I don't vibe well with horror stuff."

Jian smirked while leaning against the wall.

"Why are you up?" Baekhyun asked.

"Umm....I was playing games."

Baekhyun narrowed his eyes. He still looked adorable because the blanket was over his head. It was hard to take him seriously.

"Liar, tell me what exactly is up."

Jian sighed,"The forecast said it might rain tonight. And I'm unable to sleep because of that."

Baekhyun also sighed.

"I guess we both are chickens,"Jian said while coming and sitting on the couch.

Baekhyun also sat down beside her,"Im not.."

He stopped midway when Jian glared at him.

"I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight,"Jian said,"It's just one of those nights."

"Me too."

They both sighed once again and sat by each other for sometime. In their heart, they both were relieved that the other one was awake as well.

Suddenly Baekhyun got struck by an amazing idea.

"Do you know what we should do? To spend the night?"

"What?"Jian asked turning her head towards him.

"Play PubG together!"

Jian frowned,"Do you even know.."

"Yes, I do and now I'm a master at it. I've been playing it a lot. And I'm gonna totally destroy you."

Jian snorted mockingly,"You think your noob boomerass can defeat a pro?"

"I sure can. Why? Are you scared?"

Jian frowned,"Me? Scared? Bruh, you are on. Let's go."

"Wait, I will have to bring my laptop from my room first,"Baekhyun said as he got up leaving the blanket.

"Yeah, go ahead,"Jian said.

But Baekhyun stood there without moving looking at her. She raised her brows,"What?"

Baekhyun kept looking at her. His eyes were begging her to understand.

Jian sighed,"You want me to come as well?"

"Please."

"You do know that Judy ain't real, don't you?"

"Just..please..okay?"

"Fine,"Jian got up making Baekhyun smile widely,"Let's go."

They spent the rest of the night playing PubG continuously. Baekhyun was right, he completely destroyed Jian in all the games. He won most of the solo matches and shot Jian in all of them. Jian was in disbelief. She couldn't believe how good he was. He was so cocky and smug about it and Jian really couldn't take it.

"You have connections with the makers of pubg don't you?"Jian asked one time.

"Aww, child, now come on, don't be a sore loser!" Baekhyun said smugly.

They had played it the whole night and went to sleep when it was finally 5am when sunlight was starting to creep in. It rained in the middle of the night but both of them couldn't care less. They were too focused in the games, trying to defeat each other. And Baekhyun also forgot about the movie they had watched. That's how their company effected each other!

Days keeps passing by quickly. Soon the day of Jian's 19th birthday came. Jian couldn't care less about her birthday but she could tell people around her were trying to give her a surprise birthday party. Even though it was obvious, she pretended that she didn't know or notice a single thing. Her birthday coincidentally fell on a Saturday. On the morning of her birthday her grandma fed her seaweed soup as per tradition and then told her she and Baekhyun needed to get out of the house because 'her friends were coming over', she even asked them to not return before evening. Jian didn't want to ruin their surprise so she went along with the whole thing and got out with Baekhyun at 12 pm.

Baekhyun seemed really smiley and excited. Something was up with him, she could tell. While getting out of the house he announced,"Be excited, I have an amazing day planned."

Jian was totally skeptical about what his plan was but she went along with it. He brought her to a bus station where they got on a bus. After about thirty or forty minutes they got down from the bus. Currently they were in a part of the town Jian hasn't been too. But it's nice. The street they were at was full of different antique stores, restaurants and a lot of different things. Baekhyun quickly took her to a gaming arcade. There were so many games there. Baekhyun made her play all of it. Baekhyun also broke a record by punching the boxing bag. He was really proud of it. They also played dance dance revolution together which they both sucked at but enjoyed anyway. Lastly they managed to get a few snacks from the claw machine. Jian was really good at it.

With their snacks in hand they went out of the arcade and walked to the nearby beautiful lake. Jian really liked it. The lake was so calm and peaceful. The bridge on it, the trees around it made it look like a picture. Jian loved the scenery.

As they were walking up the bridge Baekhyun got his phone out and clicked pictures of the surroundings. Then he somehow managed to get Jian to take a selfie with him, Jian didn't want to at first but gave up. After walking around the lake for some time they had lunch at a beautiful lakeside restaurant. The lunch wasn't much but it was enjoyable. After lunch he got Jian to come to a boat ride with him. Jian didn't want to do it once again but Baekhyun dragged her to the boat.

On the boat ride Baekhyun looked like a happy kid. His face was lit up brightly. The childlike happiness on his face was worth the hard work of paddling the boat.

"Woah, it's been so long since I got on a boat,"Baekhyun said while filming his surroundings.

"Isn't is supposed to be my birthday? Why do I feel like we are doing everything that you want instead of me?"

Baekhyun didn't stop filming but smirked,"Well the day is not over, is it?"

Then he suddenly pointed the camera at Jian. Jian quickly hid her face with her hand and muttered some curse words making Baekhyun chuckle and slowly move the camera away.

After the boat ride, it was already afternoon. Baekhyun was saying that he was taking her to the last and most important place of the day. For that they had to walk for a long time from the lake. Jian was getting tired from walking and was fed up,"This place better be super amazing, Byun or else.."

Baekhyun chuckled,"We're almost there. And you're gonna love this place. I'm a thousand percent sure of it."

"What is that place anyway?"

"You see, it's your birthday, so I should bring you somewhere or to something that makes you the most happy in the world."

"Uh Huh?"

"So while planning this day I had asked myself, what makes Jung Jian most happy? And the answer was obvious,"Baekhyun said and stopped walking.

Jian also stopped walking and looked at him,"What?"

Baekhyun smiled and held both of her shoulders and then answered simply,"Animals."

With that Baekhyun turned her around and made her look at the place they had stopped in front of. Jian's eyes widened when she saw the huge sign above saying,"Goyang Animal Rescue Center".

Baekhyun came down in front of her ears and asked,"I was also wondering..your elder sister, Nina, loved you a lot. Would she approve you of giving up on your dreams just like that?"

Baekhyun then smiled and ran in the center's huge field and got surrounded by puppies.

Jian should've seen this coming when she found out that he was digging in her life. He must've found out that she wanted to be a vet. Jian should be really angry but for some reason she can't get angry? Is it because how cute the puppies and Baekhyun look?

It's physically impossible for Jian to get angry when puppies are involved.

Baekhyun turned around to Jian while picking up a puppy and signed her to come in,"Hey? Are you gonna stand there the whole day? Come in."

Jian sighed and decided to get angry later and go in for now and meet some puppers.

Baekhyun and Jian stayed in the center for a couple of hours. And those couple of hours were nothing but complete bliss. So many cute animals and nice people surrounded them. Kittens, puppies, rabbits, birds. Jian felt like her heart couldn't take it anymore. She was happy after a long time. There was not a single negative thought in her head. All she felt was happiness and content. A vet also came to see the animals and check up on the animals. Baekhyun pretended like he had nothing to do with it but Jian knows he totally planned the timing to make her realize how much she wanted to be a vet.

At one point of time the sun was about to set and Jian but Jian felt energetic as ever but suddenly rain started falling so all the animals and Jian along with the trainers went in the center. Being surrounded by animals helped Jian not to panic in the rain. But Baekhyun was outside sitting in the rain, playing with a corgi pup who loves to play in the rain. The workers didn't bring the corgi back because it loves the rain. Baekhyun and corgi playing in the rain had to be one of the most heartwarming scenarios Jian has seen.

So innocent. So cute.

Jian couldn't help but get her phone out and click a picture of them. Looking at them, Jian wondered if she's really be able to leave her past behind and start afresh to pursue her actual dream.

Would unnie really want me to?

Jian thought of what Jaemin told her that day.

'Moving on and starting afresh doesn't mean you are forgetting the past. It means you still treasure the experience in your heart.'

'Your new beginning started as soon as Baekhyun hyung entered your life all you need to do is try a bit to quicken the process.'

Jian snapped out of her thoughts when Baekhyun turned to her, smiled widely and waved holding the corgi pup on his lap. Something in Jian changed right that moment.

This time Jian smiled back. It was small and she didn't know if Baekhyun even saw it. She had finally made up her mind seeing Baekhyun.

I'm gonna start trying.

Let's give this new beginning thing a try.

This has to be one of the best birthdays Jian has ever had.

A few days from then Seokhyung, Jian and Jaemin's homeroom teacher was checking out forms they gave to their students today. This is a survey that they do before the last semester of 11th so they get a better idea of what the students want to do with their life and they can help them reach their goal. In this form they ask what they wanna do in the future and so they can recommend them good colleges. Seokhyung went through the students forms. All of his students have such amazing wishes. Doctors, engineers, actors, fashion designers, producer and so many more. Seokhyung smiled when he saw Jaemin's form and it said 'Kindergarten teacher'. This suits him and his personality. Jian's form was next. Seokhyung immediately for stressed as he picked up the form. She's definitely gonna write streamer or YouTuber or some crap that she totally doesn't want to be. She does all of that to get on his and her parents nerves.

But Seokhyung was pleasantly surprised when he saw 'veterinarian' written there with a clean handwriting.

Oh my God?

Is this some miracle or what?
