"Jian, you aren't cleaning the windows properly!"

Baekhyun shouted from the couch while Jian was cleaning the living room windows as her punishment that her grandma gave her due to causing a huge scene in the school yesterday and getting expelled. She would have to clean the whole house and make it spotless. She would have different punishments for the three different days and Baekhyun is left to watch over her and makes sure she does her job well as grandma is busy today.

It would be lie if Baekhyun said he isn't enjoying this even though a part of him feels bad for her.

Jian threw the cleaning cloth away and turned to him to say,"It's not even that deep, why're you so pressed? You're totally enjoying this, aren't you?"

"I'm given a job and I'm doing it," Baekhyun said while smiling,"Go back to cleaning the window."

Jian rolled her eyes and went back to wiping the window aggressively. It was funny to see her wear pink cleaning gloves and wipe the heck out of that window while mumbling curse words under her breath.

That's when the house phone rang. Both of them heard it but they didn't pick up. It must be her dad who has been calling continuously since yesterday to scold her for doing what she did yesterday. Even her step mom called a few times. Jian wanted to stress them out, her mission was successful. That's why she was contented. Yesterday after Jian and grandma talked to him on the few calls, Jian heard an hour long lecture on good behavior, they both decided that there's no point of picking up any more calls, because he keeps repeating the same stuff over and over again.

Yesterday was the day Baekhyun had learnt that Jian's biological mom had passed away when she was only seven. Baekhyun got to know about that through Taehyung, whom he had asked to tell him every detail he could find out about Jian and her family yesterday after Jian and his conversation at the hallway of the school. Taehyung said he had a lot more to say that he couldn't last night, he said he would soon give all the information he has on Jian. Baekhyun wants to know all he can, and help Jian who is portraying herself as an emotionless, rebellious and hateful, nightmare teenager. But Baekhyun thinks she's much more than that.

"Of course, today is the day when motherfreaking Jaemin decides to not come here. Other days he technically lives here. I even messaged him to get his ass over here, but he be busy hanging out with his friends rather than help me,"Jian was ranting under her breath with Baekhyun found amusing. He was trying his best to hold back his laughter.

As soon as she finished saying all that Jaemin entered the house and ran straight to Jian,"Oh my God, Jian. Look at you. I'm so sorry that you have to go through this."

Jian looked at him and said,"If you're so sorry then why don't you help me, You late ass bi.."Jian said while throwing a duster at him.

"Sure, I will,"Jaemin grabbed the duster and got ready to clean the windows along with her,"I am always ready to help!"

Jian rolled her eyes,"Then get to work."

Jaemin took the duster and was about to get to clean the windows to save his best friend but Baekhyun quickly ran to him and smacked his hand making him drop the duster,"Don't you dare help her, Na Jaemin. It's her punishment, not yours. So get your charitable ass out of here."

"But hyung.."

"Byun Baekhyun, you are being too much!" Jian said,"Not you being unnecessarily a freaking bi.."

"Enough, Jung Jian..you're the one that's in trouble here and needs to learn a goddamn lesson. If you didn't do all that yesterday, I wouldn't be bossing you around right now, would I?"

"But hyung.."

"Shut up, Jaemin, go hang out with your girlfriend or something!"

The three of them got in a really heated bickering session. Well..it was mostly Jian and Baekhyun. Jaemin was trying to support Jian. They were so engrossed in the bickering that they failed to acknowledge the presence of two other souls present in the room and staring at them in amusement.

It took them some throat cleaning and barking noises to stop.

The three of them turned simultaneously to the direction of the sounds and saw a boy around Jian and Jaemin's age with a white puppy in his arms. Both of them were staring at the three of them.

"Oh! I totally forgot!"Jaemin exclaimed and ran to the guy and held his shoulders,"Guys meet my friend, Zhong Chenle. He's new in town and has no friends yet and guess who also doesn't have any friends?"Jaemin smiled ear to ear,"That's right, our Jian!! And you two even have similar personalities so I thought you would get along well!"

Chenle bowed at Baekhyun and waved at Jian,"We were hanging out at my house and Jaemin suddenly said, he knows a place and brought me here. I didn't expect..this.."

"I thought the two of us could help Jian clean the house, wouldn't that be a good bonding experience?"Jaemin seemed proud of himself while Chenle wasn't having any of this.

"I didn't sign up for this."

"Yeah..trusting Jaemin is a mistake,"Jian said and sighed,"I'm sorry on his behalf."

"Yeah..it's good and all, but none of you two is helping Jian..so go and sit on the couch if you two wanna keep staying here," Baekhyun said.

Chenle tried to leave cause it surely was an uncomfortable situation for situation for him but somehow Jaemin convinced him to stay so the both of them could give Jian moral support.

Chenle wasn't bad. Baekhyun got along him pretty well as the two of them chatted at the couch while Jian cleaned and Jaemin played with Chenle's puppy Daegal and also gave Jian 'moral support' which Jian didn't appreciate or want too much. Chenle was a bit like Jian. Sarcastic and kinda judgemental but way easier to talk to than Jian. Chenle seemed to like talking to him a lot too. Chenle told him he's dad is a businessman and he recently moved to Korea from China and stays in a house in a richer area of Goyang.

Baekhyun was having fun talking to Chenle, that's when the doorbell rang. Baekhyun was confused. They weren't expecting anyone now.

When Baekhyun excused himself and opened the door, his jaw dropped again. Taehyung was standing there with his signature playful smile on his face.

"Surprise!"

Unbelievable!

"I freaking told you to not to come here."

"And I told you that I would be dropping by often. Also I have the information you asked for last night."

"You could've told me all that on phone?"

"Yeah..but what's the fun in that? Aren't you gonna let me in?"

"Who's it, hyung?"Jaemin asked while coming up behind him. His face lit up when he saw Taehyung,"Oh Taehyung hyung?"

Then Jaemin pushed past Baekhyun and hugged Taehyung. Baekhyun was about to fall but held himself up and looked at the two of them hugging each other happily.

"Since when are you two this close?"

"Since we started texting each other everyday?"Jaemin asked, getting out of the hug.

Baekhyun frowned,"You two have eachother's numbers?"

Jaemin nodded,"We also have a group chat. Jian is in it too. But she rarely talks."

"Jian is in it too?"Baekhyun asked, astonished.

This is just getting more and more unbelievable.

Taehyung was trying to keep Jaemin quiet but he didn't care,"Yes, we talk about games and y.."

"Jaemin-ah, enough!"Taehyung said while chuckling nervously. Then he looked at Baekhyun who was beyond confused and was fuming with anger,"Hyung, don't worry..I will add you tonight."

Baekhyun chuckled,"You'll add me tonight, Huh Kim Taehyung?"

"Come on, don't be like that hyung..."

"Don't be like that, Huh?"Baekhyun repeated.

"What the heck are all of you doing at the front gate?" Jian shouted from inside.

"Coming!"Taehyung said quickly and grabbed Jaemin's hand to get inside to get away from Baekhyun's wrath even though he knows it isn't gonna save him for long.

"Hey Jian!"Taehyung said and then turned to Chenle,"Hey, you are?"

"I'm Chenle. Jaemin's friend."

"Oh, nice to meet you. I'm Taehyung. Baekhyun hyung's brot.."

Before Taehyung could finish Baekhyun came up behind him and placed an iron grip on his shoulder and showed everyone the fakest smile he possibly could,"Guys, I have some business with my amazing little brother. Jaemin-ah, don't think of helping Jian and hang out with Chenle. Watch tv or something. We will be back soon. And Jian you better clean properly."

With that Baekhyun dragged Taehyung up to his room and sat him down on his bed. After closing the door behind him he turned to Taehyung and shouted.

"IN WHICH STATE OF YOUR FUCKING MIND DID YOU THINK TALKING TO THEM WAS A GOOD IDEA? THAT TOO BE IN A CHAT ROOM? ESPECIALLY HER?"

"Hyung..calm down.."

"Do you even fucking know how smart she is? It took her her five minutes of conversation with you to figure out that you're a hacker. She's not like other teenagers. You're totally gonna slip and reveal some secrets to her and make Yunho hyung kill both of us!"

"Hyung..hyung..it's okay. She doesn't even chat in the group chat. She couldn't care less. And is it wrong for me to want to chat with people younger than me? I'm already the youngest in our group, no one shares the same hobbies as me..why can't I talk to them? I never revealed any secret to them. We just talked about games!"Taehyung showed his infamous puppy eyes and pout,"You're being mean, hyung!"

Taehyung hung his head low and Baekhyun knows he is preparing himself to cry. Baekhyun has been with him almost all his life, he knows every antic of Taehyung. But he won't be able to scold Taehyung more.

Baekhyun sighed and patted Taehyung's back,"I get what you mean but it was wrong of you to do so without asking me."

"I'm sorry hyung,"He slowly looked up,"You're not angry anymore at me, right?"

"I'm not."

As soon as Baekhyun said that Taehyung jumped on him and gave him a tight hug,"Thank you hyung!"

Baekhyun smiled at his childishness.

After the hug Taehyung got serious and sat straight on the bed,"So hyung..now for why I'm here. I dug up as much as I could last night. But I will still keep digging. Some information seems to be lacking and missing."

Baekhyun nodded,"Tell me everything you know."

Taehyung took a deep breath and started.

Baekhyun found a lot about Jian then. The most shocking one probably was that her real mother had passed away when she was only seven in a car accident. Her father remarried an Korean American woman few years after and she is now Jian's stepmother who has her son who is now six years old, named Ryan. Jian has always been a shy, soft spoken, well behaved girl growing up. She was an exceptional student, who never came second. She also volunteered a lot, took part of different extracurricular activities, her reports were no joke. If she had kept it up she would've gotten in any college of her choice. Her life was great, her parents were extremely rich. They were literally the American Dream. But suddenly at the age of fifteen, she threw all of it away and came back to Korea to live with her paternal grandma.

Taehyung showed Baekhyun a lot of pictures of her winning gold medals in different competitions, martial ats, writing and what not. He even got pictures of her volunteering in a lot of different animal shelters. He got all these from her school's website. Baekhyun couldn't even recognize her by seeing these pictures. She had long brown hair, her eyes weren't lifeless, they were sparkling and she was smiling in all of these pictures while holding her trophies.

"Yeah but why would a girl with such bright future comeback to Korea..and to Goyang? That doesn't make any sense. Something big must've happened for her to change such drastically."

Taehyung nodded,"She probably had a big fight with her parents, you know how teenagers are.."

Baekhyun shook his head while looking at the pictures,"No, she isn't like that. Something very big must've happened."

Taehyung was a bit taken aback by the amount of sureness of his voice.

"Taehyung-ah, if you find anything about why she might've left America, please let me know,"Baekhyun said while giving Taehyung's phone back to him.

"Okay!"

"Good work, Tae,"Baekhyun said and patted Taehyung's head,"Let's go downstairs now and see what they are up to."

Taehyung nodded as they both got up.

Downstairs they saw Chenle and Jaemin watching a drama on their tv and Jian crouching down in front of daegal. Daegal was playing in front of Jian. Jian seemed to be observing him with not a happy face. Baekhyun was wondering if the poor puppy did anything to upset her? Did he poop on her freshly cleaned floor? Is that why she looks this upset?

Baekhyun approached while Taehyung sat beside Chenle and Jaemin. Baekhyun crouched down beside Jian and looked at Daegal.

"Did she make you upset?" Baekhyun asked Jian.

Jian didn't reply, just kept observing Daegal. She seemed to be thinking something. After a bit of silence, Jian suddenly called,"Hey, Chenle?"

"Yes?"Chenle was a bit shocked because this is the first time she talked to him after their introduction.

"I think you should take Daegal to the vet. She is showing symptoms of periodontal disease. Her gums her slightly swollen and she's not chewing properly. If you don't take her to the vet within one or two days, her gums might start bleeding and it's gonna be a shit show,"Jian said and slowly patted Daegal's head,"Oh poor thing, you must be in pain."

Everyone in the room, didn't say anything for awhile. They were just a bit stunned by the way she was showing affection to the dog.

"Are you sure?"Chenle asked.

"Yes, I'm mostly sure. And even if I'm wrong, its never bad to be a little careful, right?" Jian asked.

"I think you should listen to her. She's amazing when it comes to animals,"Jaemin said.

"That's a stretch but whatever,"Jian said and got up to go to the kitchen to wipe the counters.

Baekhyun followed her and leaned against one of the counters,"Hey, you really love animals, don't you?"

"No?"

"Don't even. Remember that injured cat incident? And then I saw you feeding stray cats a few times then I saw you bandaid up an injured bir.."

"Yeah..I get your point. Shut up and animals are better than humans..so.."

Baekhyun stayed quiet for a few seconds then said,"I heard the three of you are in a group chat?"

"Are you jealous that you're not in there?"

"Ha!? Why would I be jealous of your stupid group chat?"Baekhyun asked, trying his best to hide how jealous he actually was by the three of them talking without him,"I'm just worried about how you can fool my innocent little brother and get information out of him, he's too innocent for your games."

"Bet, he really is innocent. He even told us how you burned your whole kitchen down one night while trying to cook."

Taehyung is never gonna let that go now, would he?

"It was one time, and I thought you'll only talked about games?"

Jian shrugged.

Baekhyun was dying to know about what more Taehyung told them about him and what kind of topics they talk about but his pride won't let him.

"Don't be sad. I will add you to the group chat. You can see what we talk about yourself."

Baekhyun was kinda happy when he heard that. He hid his smile.

Jian seemed really tired and her back seemed to be hurting.

"You don't have to clean anymore. Stop."

"It's okay, only a few places lef.."

Baekhyun didn't let her finish and approached her and grabbed the duster from his hand, opened the tap in front of her and rinsed the duster, not noticing how close that action brought the two of them,"You can take rest now, I will talk to grandma.."

Jian was between the tap and Baekhyun. Jian turned her head to him and their eyes locked. When Baekhyun finally noticed it, he quickly moved away.

Jian didn't seem too bothered by it,"Are you sure?"

Baekhyun nodded, doing everything to avoid eye contact with her.

"Okay,"Jian said and took her pink gloves off and threw them in the sink.

Chenle decided to take Daegal to the vet immediately and Jaemin joined them. Jian was really tired to talk so Taehyung also decided to leave. Baekhyun came to bid them bye. Before leaving Taehyung leaned in front of his ear and whispered,"Hyung..I forgot to say something about her. I read it one of her essay competitions. And today's action reminded me of that."

"What?"

Taehyung leaned closer,"Her father was pushing her to study business but she had her own dream..she loved animals.."

Baekhyun nodded.

"...and wanted to be a vet more than anything."

Baekhyun smiled.

"I don't know if this information is important or not.."

"It's really important, thanks Tae."

I knew there's no damn way she wants to be a video game streamer.

I was right!
