Peter Pan x Reader - Too Late

Warning - Sad story ahead!!!!

Peter Pan had never been good with feelings. Everyone on the island knew that. He only ever smiled when he was doing something cruel to another person. So it was no surprise that he treated you, his first Lost Girl, so poorly when you arrived.

The moment Peter had laid eyes on you, he knew that he loved you. His heart fluttered in his chest, his stomach twisted and turned, and he had an intense urge to hold you in his arms. And he didn't like that feeling.

To the infamous Peter Pan, love was weakness. Giving somebody the power to hurt you was stupid and pointless. He would lose everything he had ever worked for if he loved somebody, and he was not about to give all of that up for a stupid, pointless girl.

So what does he do? He sent you away. He told the Shadow to remove you from his sight and the island itself. You protested against the Shadow, not wanting to give up the new freedom that Neverland granted you. You screamed and kicked, begging with Peter to change his mind. While it broke his heart to see you like that, he waved the Shadow on its way and never looked back.

That is, until a few weeks later. The moment Peter had felt your presence leave the island, he immediately felt guilty. The guilt consumed him a little bit more every day, until your begging, pleading face was all he could think about for every waking moment. Every day became harder and harder for him. He could only imagine what you were feeling.

Finally, he snapped. He asked the Shadow for the town he had dropped you off in, and he went looking for you. He felt your presence in the city and went everywhere he could sense it. The movies, shops, houses, schools, everywhere. But you were nowhere to be found. He was just about to give up and return to Neverland when he spotted one last place.

It was a small cafe, one of the only places he hadn't checked yet. He figured you could have been in there with your old family or working or something, so he popped in. He saw you there, sitting with an older guy. You guys were laughing and talking, just like you had been when you first met him. Although, the darkness of lost hope that had initially clouded your eyes was gone, and now replaced with the sparkling gleam of happiness. You were not the lost girl he had known a few weeks back.

Peter was perplexed. How had a few weeks changed you so much? It hadn't even been a month since he had sent you away, so how were you fixed? If you were lost enough to have the Shadow bring you to Neverland, there's no way that there could have been just a quick fix.

So, Peter followed you around the rest of the night. He watched as the guy wrapped his arms around you, pecking you on the cheek and lips now and then. The sight made his blood boil, although he knew he had done it to himself. So he waited it out.

Finally, the date was over. Peter watched you get into the car with the stranger and followed you guys back to your house. He gawked at the man not only walked you to your door but walked in with you! He watched him walk upstairs and climb into bed, just to hear you yell about getting a few more things done before going to sleep yourself.

He saw you go up to a computer and start working. He saw you type away at a new chapter for a book you had been writing. You seemed to go through the chapters very fast, getting through one every couple of minutes. You only ever stopped to answer text messages or emails that came through.

Peter was finally done watching the love of his life waste her own life on tedious tasks like these. He went up to the window next to the computer she was working at, and started knocking. The sudden noise scared you, causing you to emit a slight scream before seeing the charming, evil boy you had known so many years ago staring back at you. You stared at him confusedly before opening the window to see what he wanted.

"Peter Pan? Is that you?" you asked softly, not wanting to believe that that was the small boy who had broken your heart a while back.

"Yes, (Y/N), it is," he smiled sweetly.

"What are you doing here?" you asked. You were extremely confused.

"Well, I'm here to ask you to come back to Neverland with me, of course," he smirked, stating it like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Peter, how long has it been since you sent me away...?" you asked slowly.

"Well, only a few weeks my darling! I'm so sorry for what I did, but I saw what I did wrong! I love you, I really do! That's why I sent you away; I couldn't accept that! I want you to come back with me, please. I feel so bad, let me make it up to you!" you heard the pitiful begging come from the otherwise ruthless leader.

"Peter...That was eleven years ago..." you explained, your voice barely above a whisper.

"W-what...?" he asked, his voice shaking. He looked down at you, taking in your appearance. He could see it now; you were older. Way older. Your curves had come in nicely since then, but he could see a bit of fat on your stomach.

"Time is different on Neverland. At least, that's what Felix told me. It's been eleven years since you left me. You never came back for me, so I moved on. I'm married now, Peter. And..." you trailed off as you rubbed the bump on your stomach. Peter didn't seem to be able to take his eyes off of it.

    "I'm pregnant..."

"Y-you're what?!" he nearly screamed, before you shushed him so he wouldn't wake your sleeping husband.

"I'm pregnant...I'm sorry Peter...Maybe if you had come here sooner..." you tailed off sadly, feeling bad for the poor boy.

"Yeah, if only I weren't too late..." he said sadly, before hearing a voice call your name.

"I'm coming, sweetie! I'm sorry Peter, I have to go. It was nice seeing you again," you said before sticking your head out the window and kissing him on the forehead, "Feel free to visit whenever you want."

And with that, you shut the window and walked up to find your husband lying in bed with his arms out, waiting for you to join him. You smiled at him, almost completely forgetting the poor, heartbroken boy who you had just seen moments ago.

Peter was devastated after that. He sadly flew back to Neverland, trying to force back the tears that had formed in his eyes. He loved you, and he screwed it up for himself. He didn't say a word when he got back to the island, just went straight to his bed. All the Lost Boys heard from him was two words:

    "Too late..."
