the actors were good, the script was good but the way it was shot was not, plus if they simply added some background music it would've also been better

honestly, that's just oof, that line was perfection, and i can sense how since Alaric is human he can't at all sympathize with Cleo,
not in the way Kaleb and Josie can

then take in factor of how Alaric chooses his student aids

he had MG on speed dial, a vampire, maybe a reminder of how his best friend was once a vampire, but MG is nothing like Damon, but he's a lot more of another Salvatore brother

then MG left, but before he did Kaleb was already partnering up with Alaric a lot and afterwards just became his new student aide, another vampire and one with more attitude that reminded him of Damon, hell MG probably reminds him of Stefan

this, paired with the also amazing line by Kaleb✨, paired with what the German vampire kid said in the episode we meet Cleo about how "You've killed supernaturals, you shouldn't be running a school for them."

then you have Hope and the only reason he sticks so close to her and training her is because of his fear of her becoming like her father but trust me when i say that that is the only reason. not because she's a kid with daddy issues or they're so similar, it's because if anything happens, he's the one that trained her, he knows how she fights, and he can tell someone else who will get the job done

if Hope wasn't Klaus's daughter, if she were a random tribrid out of nowhere, he wouldn't have been so focused on her. sure, he'd definitely be interested in the tribrid thing but he'd treat it the same way he treated the threat of hybrids and heretics during TVD, even if she were a kid, he'd both be in high alert and finding ways to kill her if she ever got out of line and so far I'm 100% sure that his only idea had been to throw her in a prison world

okay but that's all from my perspective of him, imagine if they actually wrote that in, like imagine if they actually brought it up and Hope is just crushed by it

(and in reality, Alaric would probably definitely sacrifice her to save his daughters, he would probably do it, except even if it were for the right reasons, the Mikaelsons don't care about the right reasons when one of their own die, they take revenge, so really, letting Hope die would be like letting his whole family die and then some)
