I let Aurei sleep in the bedroom, as I close the door I glare at Dakota for scaring me earlier.

"Oh don't be mad, you thought it was funny when you hugged me out of nowhere while I was keeping watch." Dakota said as he walked away.

"So this is revenge?" I ask.

"Payback's a bitch." Dakota said with a shrug.

"Can I keep watch?" I ask.

"Avery you've done enough, sit down and relax." Dakota said, I glare at him.

"How hard is it to tell you to relax? Rest you imbecile." He said, I roll my eyes. He always called me that whenever I'm hard on myself.

"Your rough talk isn't going to convince me." I chimed.

"Avery, I got this, besides, I'm only watching through window, nothing major." Dakota said, I walk up towards him and gave him a small kiss on the cheek. Awkwardly, I step away.

"Don't feel too special." I said teasingly, Dakota just looks at me. I've never been this bold....not even when I kissed my first boyfriend, he went for me when he was drunk.

"Well aren't you a rose?" Dakota asks me.

"I still don't get what you mean." I said, crossing my arms.

"You're still thorny as hell, for the life of me I wouldn't pick you...." Dakota said, I let my fingers dig into my arms.

"But fuck it." Dakota said as he walks closer to me.

"This isn't Romeo and Juliet, it's like being with glass, you get cut along the way." Dakota said.

"And I'm not a preppy ass prince charming either." Dakota adds.

"You don't have to be." I said, Dakota grins.

"Okay, but just know, I'm going to be honest, like it or not." Dakota said.

"Love it." I said with a smirk.

He flicks my forehead.

"I mean it Avery, get some rest." Dakota said without looking over his shoulder, I form my lips into a straight line.

I haven't heard from Fern in a while, I walk down the hall and into the living room to see Fern holding some sort of glass, she held a flashlight showing some blood, she holds it up to her face.

"What are you doing?" I ask. Fern winces, dropping the flashlight and I hear things shatter all over the floor, Fern scurries towards the floor to gather them but I walk up to her and grabbed her my the arm.

"I asked you a question." I said firmly, she wanted to join us, so she shouldn't keep secrets that are deadly away from us.

"It's hard to explain-" She begun.

"We have all night." I said grimly. She squirms a little.

"Can I at least pick up the glass?" She asks.

"Not until you tell me." I said.

"I don't have to tell you about my life in the past! What gives you that right?! Can't you see that I'm not a threat! What will it take? What will it take for you to trust me?!?" Fern asks, her face drenched in complete anger.

"What will it take for you to understand that no matter what you were or what you've done in the past, as long as you're not trying to kill any of us I'm cool." I said calmly.

"I'm....a scientist....I worked in the building when this all started." She said ever so slowly. My heart skips a beat, I shove her away from me. The scientists were one of the main reasons why people died. The dead don't come back from the disease, the disease only kills them, so therefore....we lost Mom, Cassie, Nina, Jeffrey and Lydia....and they reason why so many good people died.

"And you have the audacity to say I'm paranoid?" I ask, Fern gives me a pained look.

"I could kill you....nobody would have to know...." I said, Fern's eyes widen.

"I get that you're mad....but it isn't me in general." She said, I stop.

"My mother is dead because you wanted to play in the lab." I growl.

"The disease was our fault, yes. But the resurrection had nothing to do with us, when that little girl came back to life, she had no mind of her own, she had no soul, all she did was tear into a man's stomach and eat the intestines she would rip out." Fern said, I bent over to the side.

"And did you know what the worst part was??" Fern asks, her voice wavering as if she's about to cry.

"That little girl was my neice, but they just kept us there anyway. The police locked down the place, and I had to escape on my own." Fern said through a grimace.

"That still doesn't excuse you." I said bitterly.

"I know it doesn't." Fern shot back. I couldn't help it, I threw a punch across her cheek, she staggers back, I kept punching her in the face.

They didn't have to do this....

I grab a fistfull of her hair then slammed it on the coffee table. I feel someone pull me back, I turn around and got ready to swing but the only person that stood there was Aurei.

"Avery, you didn't have to beat her..." Aurei said, but she didn't know....

"Yes she did..." Fern said, I turn around.

"Shut up." I said coldly. Fern sniffles.

"Get Dakota in here." I said with a grimace, Fern had blood going down her nose, two of her front teeth are missing and her gash is starting to bust. Her bottom lip is covered in blood and I could see her eyes glistening.

Dakota runs in here, he looks at me then at Fern.

"Avery what the hell happened?" Dakota asks.

I didn't say anything, I walk towards Fern, forcing her onto her feet, she turns to me, her bottom lip quivering.

"Go ahead, tell them or I will." I said, giving her a violent shove, sending her to almost fall.

"I-I'm a scientist." She said, Dakota lunges towards her, Aurei grabs him but her still swings at her.

"I'm trying to find a cure." She said quietly.

"Bullshit!!!" Dakota yells, Aurei glares at her.

"I'm sorry....but you're no better! You're all killers!!! Even you Aurei? Well I saw it coming from a piss poor sister of yours." She yells, Aurei's face was showing hurt, her eyes are no longer full of pride.

"You think killing a robber is going to justify everything you do! You get everyone you love killed!" Fern yells, Dakota and I smile, whenever I was in a argument I smile just to show that they can't get to me.

"Aurei, let me go." Dakota said, smiling dangerously as he begun to pry Aurei's fingers off of him.

"Say you're sorry and walk away." Aurei said with complete fear in her eyes but she just stares intensely at Fern.

Fern sighs.

"It's the heat of the moment, let's go to sleep." Fern suggests slowly.

"No, I have questions." Dakota snaps, Aurei gazes at Dakota.

What did Dakota need to know.....Fern needs to explain everything. Because apparently she was inspecting something for some reason....
