Chapter One Hundred and Seventy-Eight - No Jackpot Casino

Using Eden's heightened senses, the two celestials made their way back to the portal in the hopes that Dean had gone there.
They'd almost made it when Cas stopped mid-step, his eyes squeezed shut.
"Pigeon? What is it?" Eden asked, turning back to him.
He didn't reply, only held up a finger.
After a minute or so, the Dark Angel noticed a tear trickling down her friend's cheek.
"Pigeon, what's wrong?" She pressed, stepping towards him to take his hand.
He opened his eyes, taking a deep, shaky breath.
"It's Dean... I think-" He cut himself off, shaking his head.
"You think what? Is he in trouble? Where is he?" Eden was bordering on frantic.
Cas surveyed the surrounding area, looking for any sign of life.
"We need to keep moving." He sighed, leading the way.
Eden watched him walk away as she took out her phone. She glanced at the countdown on her screen, telling her they only had thirty-two minutes before Michael's portal closed.

Eventually, the portal was in sight through the trees. But Dean was still nowhere to be found.
They opted to sit by a tree to wait for him.
The next time Eden looked at the countdown, they had just four minutes left.
"Come on, Dean... We're not leaving without you." She uttered under a heavy breath.
"You are." Castiel told her. "If that countdown gets to zero, you need to be through that portal with the Leviathan Blossom when it closes. You need to save Sam, Willow and Eileen, you need to stop Chuck and you need to live a happy life with your family."
"I'm not going anywhere if you and Dean aren't by my side." Eden argued.
"Yes, you are. You have to. I need to stay here until I find Dean. We'll find another way back." The Angel replied sincerely.
The Dark Angel sighed.
"I'd do the same for Sam..."
"I know you know exactly how I feel." Castiel mumbled, looking at his hands resting on his knees.
"It's hard to miss when it's radiating off of you." She gave a small smirk. "And to be cherished by someone and loved as much as you do... It's the best feeling in the world. I hope Dean knows that."
"Yeah... Me too." Cas tipped his head back, resting it on the tree above them.
Eden then heard rustling behind them and smiled.
"Speak of the devil."
Cas got up, calling Dean's name as he helped Eden to her feet.
"Cas..." The Winchester panted, grinning through his shock.
"You made it." His Angel staggered over to him.
"I made it." Dean closed the gap between them, hugging Castiel close to him. He looked to Eden as he did. "You guys okay?"
"We're fine." Cas replied as they parted for Dean to hug the woman.
"What happened?" The Winchester asked.
"They were after us, not you. We thought it'd be safest to give ourselves up." The Angel sighed.
"They take you to Eve?"
"Yeah. Eden had her reunion and in return, Eve gave us this." Cas took the Leviathan Blossom from inside his trench coat.
"You did it... You did it, Cas." Dean smiled, forgetting where he was for a second. When he remembered, he cleared his throat. "Uh, you both did it. And Eden, you got what you wanted, so that's a big win in my book."
Eden stood a few feet behind Cas with a knowing smile on her face.
"We did. But, not to burst this rather beautiful bubble, but we have under a minute to get through the portal." She nodded towards the golden tear.
"You go on ahead. I have to say something to Cas." Dean instructed.
"You don't have to say it. I heard your prayer." Castiel told him, giving a small smile before he walked off towards their exit.
"He didn't tell me what you said, by the way." Eden moved towards the Winchester. "But I know that it helped. It helped massively."
With that, she took his hand and led the way.

Back in the Bunker's library, with instruction from the spell Donatello had deciphered for them, they prepared themselves.
As Dean crushed up the Leviathan Blossom and scooped its paste into a copper bowl, Eden sprinkled in herbs and Castiel recited the spell.
He then took his Angel Blade and brought it to his palm.
"Wait, wait, wait." Dean held up a hand. "Are you sure?"
"Dean you've already taken the Mark, you can't take it again and who knows what it'll do to Eden and the baby." Cas replied. "I can, it's the only way."
He sliced into his hand and squeezed it into a fist over the bowl, allowing a small amount of his blood into the mixture.
Dean threw in some more herbs and the bowl flashed, sky blue smoke whisping out of it and into a crystal ball Cas held over it, turning it a muddy grey.
"Because I'm taking the Mark, someone else will have to destroy this." He said, slipping the ball into the pocket of his trench coat. "One of you, or Sam."
"Right then. Let's not waste anymore time. I need my fiance and my daughter back." Eden sighed, storming off towards the garage.

The trio snuck through the casino as quietly as they could, equally confused as to why they weren't hearing Chuck's latest 'my horse is bigger than your horse' speeches.
Dean looked to Eden, waving his hand towards the exit, mouthing 'hang back'.
She simply nodded, staying exactly where she was as she watched him move further into the building.
"Dean?" Sam perked up as he saw his brother. He struggled in the chair he was zip-tied to. "Help. Help me!"
"Where's Chuck?" The older brother asked.
He took out his switchblade and cut the ties, looking around the place.
"I don't know..." Sam replied. "But he's close."
Dean snapped the first zip-tie off, revealing Sam's reddened wrist.
"Watch out!" The younger brother warned, dodging as Eileen came up behind Dean and swung a metal vase, hitting him in the head and knocking him to the ground.
As he got back to his feet, a reluctant Eileen took out a scalpel from her black denim jacket pocket and swiped at Dean, opting to lunge for him.
He took her shoulders and spun her around quickly, so that he had more room to counter-attack.
"Eileen..." He warned, standing his ground. "I don't wanna hurt you."
From behind her, Cas ran out and tackled her to the ground.
"Be careful!" Sam called out. "Chuck's controlling her."
He picked up the switchblade from the floor and sliced himself free.
"Hi, Dean." Chuck's voice came from behind him.
Dean spun around, seeing he was holding Eden by the back of her neck. His other hand held her Archangel Blade, pointing it straight at her baby bump.
"I'm so sorry, Dean. He found me first." Eden whimpered.
The Winchester went to move towards them, but Chuck squeezed Eden's neck tighter.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." He warned.
"Sam!" Cas called, rolling the crystal ball over to him.
Sam picked it up and rose from his chair.
"Smash it!" Dean ordered.
The biggest moral conundrum was clearly happening behind the younger brother's eyes.
"Well, Sam?" Chuck urged.
"Sam!" Dean yelled.
The younger brother panted as he fought his emotions. Eventually, he fell to his knees, dropping the ball to let it roll towards Eden and Chuck, who caught it with his foot.
"I can't..." He breathed.
"What?" Dean's eyes were wide.
"I can't." He repeated. "I'm sorry. I can't. I- I just can't."
"What did you do to him?" The older brother glared to Chuck.
Before he could reply, both Chuck's bullet wound and Sam's lit up through their shirts. Chuck gave a relieved groan as he rolled his shoulder as much as he could without letting go of Eden.
"Whoo! Yeah, that's the stuff." He chuckled.
Castiel rose to his feet, along with Eileen.
"What happened?" He asked.
"Uh, short version? Sammy lost hope and now... I'm free." Chuck replied. "But, hey. Take it easy on the kid. It took a lot to beat it out of him. Eden, be a dear and pick up the ball for me." He applied weight to his grip on Eden's neck, forcing her down to her knees. She glared in Dean's direction as she did as she was told. "Now crush it for me. Go on."
"You're a sick bastard, Chuck. You always were." She sneered.
"Yeah, yeah. Sticks and stones, kiddo... Destroy the ball or your baby dies." Chuck ordered, pressing the Archangel Blade into her stomach, just enough to tear the skin.
She cried out, a tear slipping down the side of her face.
"Baby, it's okay. Just do it." Sam told her.
Eden's brain was running so fast for alternative ideas, but nothing came. Slowly, her fist applied pressure until the crystal cracked. She crushed the ball into dust. The sky blue smoke poured out of it, disappearing into nothing.
"No..." Dean uttered. He watched as the dust slipped through Eden's fingers, forming a loose pile on the floor in front of her. "No!"
"I'm sorry, Dean..." Eden whispered through her agonised tears.
"It's okay, Vampy Pants. This wasn't you." He told her, not taking his eyes from Chuck. "Well? Now what? You're not gunna dust us."
"Oh, yeah?" Chuck frowned. "Why not?"
"Because you're holding out." Dean spat. "For your big finish. Yeah, we know about your galaxy-brained idea. How you think this story is gunna go. Sam got a look into your draft folder."
"Sam's visions? They weren't drafts. They were memories." The deity corrected. "My memories. Other Sams and other Deans... In other worlds. But, guess what? Just like you, they didn't think they'd do it either. But they did. And you will, too."
"No." Dean shook his head, taking steps towards Chuck and Eden. "Not this Sam. And not this Dean. And you know exactly why. See, you didn't come straight for me or Cas as soon as we walked in here. No, you went for Eden. Because all those other Sams and all those other Deans never had what we have. We have her – one of the only beings in existence that you're afraid of. I'd be willing to bet her life and that baby's that you can't even harm either of them. Not properly. Not enough to do more than that scratch. So, you can go back to Earth Two and play with your other toys." By the time he'd paused, he was mere inches from Chuck's face, looking down at him with the most disgust anyone had ever seen on a person. He reached out and took Eden's hand, dragging her away from Chuck's grasp, acting as the protective barrier between them. "We will never give you the ending you want."
The deity smiled, dropping the Archangel Blade to the floor.
"We'll see." He whispered, disappearing in a blink.
"Thank you..." Eden's small voice uttered after a few moments.
Dean said nothing, only turned around and hugged her tight.
"Where's Willow?" Sam asked Eileen.
"She was still out cold when Chuck sent me out here." She replied.
"Show me." Cas urged, placing a hand on her back to lead the way.

With everyone safe in the Bunker, Eileen had made a rather big decision.
She had said goodbye to everyone, saying she didn't know what was real anymore after coming back from the dead and everything that had happened that day with Chuck.
Sam saw her out of the door and to her car while Dean, Cas and Eden sat in the kitchen.
Eventually, he appeared in the doorway.
"Did she actually leave?" Dean asked.
"Yeah..." The younger brother replied, pulling up the sleeves on his blue checkered flannel. Steadily, he made his way down the two steps to the kitchen and sighed. "That was our chance... To stop Chuck."
No one said anything. No one really knew what to say.
"But, what Chuck showed me..." Sam continued. "What would happen if we trapped him... I believed him. I still do."
"Well, that's good enough for me." Dean commented, bringing his whiskey glass to his lips.
"Okay..." Sam frowned, clearing his throat awkwardly. "So, what now?"
"Chuck's gone, but..." Cas started.
"He'll be back." The older brother concluded.
"That gives us time to come up with a plan B." Eden nodded.
"But... If we can't kill him or trap him..." Sam trailed off, shaking his head.
"We find another way." Dean told him. "Until then, we sit and we drink and we pretend like the whole universe isn't about to end."

After sitting through about thirty minutes of slightly forced small talk, Sam spoke up.
"Guys, I wanna say I'm sorry. About earlier... When I couldn't break the ball."
Cas, Dean and Eden looked between each other, the boys' eyes eventually settling on her to respond.
"Sam..." She sighed, placing her hand over his on the table. "We understand. Whatever Chuck said to you, whatever he showed you... We understand that it must've been worse than Hell itself for you to lose hope like that. We'll find another way. Even if we have to gather together every Sam and Dean still alive in their universes to get a solution."
"Wait, is that an option?" Dean perked up.
The Dark Angel gave him a sarcastic glare.
"Not unless you know how to create and keep open a portal that has stable access to every other surviving universe out there." She retorted, turning back to Sam. "This isn't your fault and none of us blame you."
"I just couldn't..." The younger brother shook his head, his eyes fixed on a section of Dean's whiskey glass. "Seeing what he showed me, not knowing where Willow was or if she was even alive, seeing Chuck holding you like he did, threatening our baby... I didn't know if that Archangel Blade would hurt them or maybe even kill you. It felt like no time at all and, by the time it was all over- I barely even had time to register."
"Look, man... We get it. Like Eden said; none of us blame you. It is what it is and we've gotta deal with that." Dean spoke up.
"Thank you." Sam looked up at his brother as his hand tightened around Eden's. "For helping them."
"Hey, she's family. And so's that baby. You know I'd do anything for her." Dean shrugged, glancing to her. "And I meant what I said. All those other versions of us don't have you. That's what's different here. Chuck's so afraid of you, he probably crapped his pants even scratching you with that Blade. I knew damn well he wasn't gunna hurt you or that kid. And he's friggin' terrified of not knowing what would've happened if he did."
"Well, I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again." Eden sighed, standing up. "Thank you, Dean. I didn't know what that Archangel Blade would've done to me or the baby and I really hope I never find out. Now, if you'll all excuse me, I'm going to go and check on Willow."
"How was she doing the last time you saw her?" Castiel asked.
"Still unconscious. I don't know what Chuck did to her, I'm just hoping this isn't a permanent thing." The Dark Angel replied, giving a ghost of a smile as she turned and left the room.
