Chapter One Hundred and Ninety - The Vanishing Act

"Alright, you. We're having a talk." Eden walked into Willow's room, where the young Vampire was reorganising her things.
The girl sighed, putting down a book on her desk to sit on the end of her bed next to the Dark Angel.
"You wanna know where I went..."
"You're bloody right I do. You were gone for weeks. I was worried sick." Eden huffed.
"I'm sorry, mom... After what Jack said, I panicked. I didn't want history to repeat itself." Willow sighed again, looking down at her hands in her lap. "I ran and ran until I found this Witch. He gave me a spell that would block you from finding me."
"A witch?" Eden frowned. "Who was he? How did he know what I am? No Witch should have that kind of power."
"He never gave his name." Willow shrugged. "Always wore a deep hood. I never saw his face. But I was desperate to be alone, so I did the spell and it worked."
Eden's frown deepened as she sat a little straighter.

Since neither Eden or Jorden were feeling tired, they had decided to go on a shopping spree to compile a wardrobe for the newest edition.
By the time they got back, Sam and Dean were getting ready to leave.
"What's going on? Have we got a lead?" Eden frowned, placing the abundance of clothes bags on the map table.
"Charlie called. Might be a case." Sam replied, giving her a hug.
Dean lifted Jorden up into his arms, bouncing her on his hip.
"What do you think, Littlest VP? First case?" He smirked.
"Um, I think not, thank you very much." Eden cocked a warning brow in his direction.
"What? Jack was her age when he started out, technically." The older brother shrugged.
"Jack was also thrown into that and was a lot bigger than she is." The Dark Angel retorted, crossing her arms.
"Momma, please can I go?" Jorden gave her best puppy dog eyes, even making them fill with tears at the waterline.
Eden rolled her eyes, side-eyeing Sam.
"If ever anyone needed proof she was your daughter, that look is it."
Sam chuckled, pulling her into his side to kiss her hair.
"Come on, it could be fun. She can meet Aunt Charlie and Aunt Stevie."
Eden sighed again, putting her forehead into her palm.
"Fine. She can come. But we're flying. No arguments, Dean."

"Oh my gosh, who is this?!" Charlie gasped as Jorden skipped in, holding hands with Eden.
The little girl looked up at her mother, who smiled.
"Go on, that's your Aunt Charlie. Go say hello." Eden urged, letting go of her hand to urge the child on.
Jorden waddled over to Charlie, holding up a hand in motionless wave.
"Hello, I'm Jorden. Jorden Mary Elizabeth Winchester." She grinned.
Charlie's eyes widened, taking them off of the Dark Nephilim to look between Eden and the brothers.
"She's finally here?" She gushed.
"She's finally here." Sam smiled.
Charlie's adoring eyes fell back on the child in front of her, opting to kneel down.
"It's awesome to meet you, Jorden."
The child's only response was to fall into the woman, giving her a hug around her neck.
"So, what seems to be the problem? Where's Stevie?" Dean asked.
"That is exactly the problem. She just... Disappeared. Right in front of me." Charlie sighed, getting to her feet once Jorden had released her. She motioned with her head for them to follow her further inside her apartment. She sat down in a small olive green armchair in the living room as Sam took out an EMF reader and began to scan the place.
Eden, Jorden and Dean followed her to sit on the mismatching white couch.
"So... How'd you two meet? Best keep you thinking on the positives while Sam does his thing." Eden gave a short-lived smile as Jorden clambered into her lap.
"We met a few months ago. Bobby sent me to back her up on a Djinn case. Thought Stevie might need my help. She didn't." The woman explained. Sam walked up behind her, shaking his head to Dean and Eden as to say he'd had no results on the EMF. "I said I liked the way she handled herself. She accused me of flirting. I denied it. But then... I didn't know who else to call. I can't believe this happened... Why her and not me?"
"That's what we're trying to figure out." Dean replied, sitting forward on the edge of the seat with his fingers knitted together in front of him.
"Charlie, why don't you tell us everything you saw?" Sam suggested, perching himself on the arm of the couch nearest Eden and Jorden.
"Wel- I saw nothing!" Charlie shrugged, holding out her arms in emphasis. "I heard nothing. I felt nothing. No chills, no sulphur smell. One second, Stevie was making breakfast and the next, she just... She just vanished." She folded her arms, looking the three adults over. Dean glanced to his left, giving an uneasy look to his brother and Eden. "What?"
"Charlie... We've, uh... We've made some pretty big enemies, lately." He sharply exhaled, passing it off as a humourless chuckle.
"Death..." Sam uttered. "The Death. She wants to send you back. Everyone from other worlds sent back to... Worlds that don't exist anymore."
"So, she's killing us." Charlie concluded.
"We don't know for sure that it's Death." Eden half-groaned. "She's not the only big player we've... Peeved recently." She covered her daughter's ears to finish her sentence, earning a frown from the little one.
"Yeah, I mean, we don't know for sure, but Stevie fits a pattern. Just before we left, we had a few other Hunters call and say a similar thing."
"A pattern?" Charlie scoffed, getting up to pace the room. "I said I wasn't gunna do this again – the love thing. And I do and the second I let my guard down, Stevie is just- She's gone. So... What? Is she just some collateral damage to you? Is that what I'll be too?"
"No, no, of course not." Eden shook her head, mostly to attempt to shake the thoughts of the vulgar aftermath of when she tried to save their Charlie. "We're trying to find a way to fix this. And we'll try and find a way to do that and bring everyone missing back in the process."
Sam's phone began to ring, making him huff as he reached into the pocket of his khaki jacket.
"I'm sorry." He uttered, seeing the contact name pop up on his screen. "It's Bobby, uh... Sorry."
He stood up, choosing to answer it and have his conversation somewhere else in the apartment.
"Charlie, I'm sorry..." Was all Dean could think to say.
"Yeah, okay. I understand. Thanks." Sam said, hanging up the phone.
"What now?" The older brother huffed.
"Bobby was on a hunt with another Apocalypse World refugee – uh, Greg. And... Greg just vanished." The younger explained.
"It's spreading." Charlie noted.
"Yeah, I think so." Sam sighed.
"So no one's safe..." Dean grumbled.
"Are we safe, Momma?" Jorden looked up at Eden with her Winchester puppy dog eyes.
"You'll be fine, Flower. Nothing's going to hurt you so long as daddy and I are around. Remember you've got Uncle Dean, Uncle Pigeon, Willow, Jack, Uncle Bobby, Aunt Charlie and so many others looking out for you too."
"But what about all of you? Who's going to look after you?" The Dark Nephilim's waterline began to fill, the whites of her huge, pleading eyes starting to redden.
Eden's uneasy expression looked between Charlie, Sam and Dean. That look was only returned.
"We protect each other, Sweetheart. That's what families do." Sam gave the little girl a half-cocked smile.
"Let's be real." Dean scoffed. "Jorden's the only one in this room who's safe."
"Dean." Eden hissed.
"No, really. The little Munchkin seems to understand, so why lie to her on her first full day alive? Anybody that's ever crossed over from another world, anyone that's ever been resurrected, all on Billie's list."
"Has anyone tried to get a hold of Eileen recently?" The Dark Angel asked.
Sam's face instantly fell.
"Go. It's not like anything else is gunna happen here." Charlie nodded.
"Don't jinx it." Eden warned.

Dean had insisted on going back to the Bunker to collect Baby, coming up with reasons like 'we might need weapons from the trunk' to avoid flying again.
"Fine. But I'm driving. We all know I'm a faster driver than you and I know how to evade speed cameras." Eden huffed, already half way through the corridor to the garage.
It had started raining at some point and the sun had set, but that barely even registered to anyone in the car.
Sam had been texting Eileen, ensuring that she was still around.
Until the replies stopped coming...
Sam showed Eden his phone, prompting her to force the accelerator pedal to the floor.
"I swear, if she's- if anything's happened to her, I'll make death the least of Billie's problems." The Dark Angel growled, punching the steering wheel with the ball of her palm.
"No revenge plans yet. Just keep your eyes on the road and make sure we don't roll." Dean sighed, also feeling frustrated with how slow Baby seemed to be when they were in a hurry.

Eventually, they rounded the corner onto Eileen's street with an almighty screech of the tyres.
Her car was still there, but no one could even attempt to figure out whether that was a good or bad sign.
Sam already had the passenger door open before Eden had pulled up behind the red estate car, and got out the second it stopped, rushing towards the Huntress' front door.
As Dean, Eden, Jack, Castiel, Willow and Jorden also piled out, the younger brother spotted something catch the street lamp light on the pavement outside Eileen's place.
There laid her phone and a small red duffel bag containing various types of weaponry. Sam unlocked the phone, seeing the two texts she'd missed and a half-written text saying 'Okay, at my car. Now tell me wh'.
His blood ran cold.
"Bloody hell..." Eden sighed, running stressed fingers through her hair.
"We have to get everyone to safety. Anyone who might be on Billie's list." Sam huffed, pocketing Eileen's phone.
"Where is safe from Death?" Willow asked.
"We need a location." Sam replied. "Somewhere central to everyone. We, uh, we need somewhere secure, contained. We get them in and we put up every last bit of warding we've ever used."
"My father and... StepAngel owes me big time after what they let happen to Jack. I can ask them if they know of any kind of warding we don't know about. It might be a long shot, but it can't hurt." Eden nodded.
"Alright. You guys do that." Dean looked to the floor.
"What? What are you gunna do?" Sam frowned.
"I started this. I'm gunna end it." The older brother replied. "Your plan, getting everybody safe, that's good, okay? But it won't last forever. Now, we couldn't make Chuck pay. But Billie? She left her blade. Her I can kill." Sam started to protest, but Dean cut him off. "We don't have a choice, Sam."
"I'll go with you, Dean." Cas spoke up, looking to the teenager next to him. "Willow, you too. Apart from Jorden, you're the only one here who hasn't died. By her own logic, she can't touch you."
"Alright." Dean nodded as the Vampire did.
"You take care of my daughter, okay?" Eden cocked a warning brow, subconsciously holding Jorden's hand a little tighter. "And take care of each other or I'll come for you."
"We will." The older brother said as he hugged her.
He then moved to Sam, hugging him tightly.
Willow opted to save her mother and father figures last in her hug list.
Once she did, she wiped a stray tear from her porcelain skin.
"I love you, Mom." She smiled to Eden, then looked to Sam. "And I love you, Dad."
Sam's brows lifted at the word she'd never heard him say before.
"I love you too, Kiddo." He sniffed, pulling her into him. "This isn't goodbye. Remember that."
Willow nodded, wiping her face with the sleeve of her burgundy hoodie as she stepped back towards Dean and Cas.
"Be safe. We'll see you three later." Eden nodded.

The next day, Donna called Sam as he was filling up the gas tank in Eileen's car.
She said she'd found a place not too far from her, where there was an abandoned farm complete with a huge silo.
When he was done on the phone and filling up, he looked over to Jack, who was spacing out in the back of the car.
"I think he needs some cheering up. He seems so... Lost without his powers." Eden sighed, spying what Sam had been looking at.
"Yeah, I got an idea." The Winchester nodded, heading to Jack's side of the car. He knocked on the window, prompting the boy to roll it down. "Hey, I got a job for you."
"Me?" Jack frowned.
"Yeah, I need you to drive."
"But, I only drove once. Can't Eden do it?" The boy asked.
"I got work to do and I might need her help. You know, dig through the archives and work on finding spells. We can't do that with one eye on the road, so..." Sam waved a hand, motioning towards the driver's seat.
"Okay." Jack nodded, climbing through to the front of the car. "I'll... Drive."
"Road food? It's going to be a long one." Eden suggested.
"Uh, yeah. Good idea. Just get the usual stuff minus the pie." Sam nodded, getting into the passenger seat.
As Eden went into the gas station, Jorden skipped along behind her, catching up to shove her tiny hand into the Dark Angel's.

The next day, the four arrived at an old farm. Various vehicles were parked all around just passed the long, dirt driveway, buildings and silos scattering the area around it. Jack pulled the car over in front of a familiar, gleaming black truck, of which Donna appeared round the back with a beige duffel bag over her shoulder.
"Hiya, kid." The Sheriff seemed relieved to see Jack.
"Hey..." He sighed as Sam opened the back door of the car to help Jorden and Eden out.
"Bloody Hell, am I happy to see you." Eden smiled, walking up to the woman and embracing her in a hug.
From said hug, Donna noticed Sam approaching with Jorden in his arms.
"Oh my gosh! Is that..?" The Sheriff trailed off, parting from Eden to meet Sam halfway.
"This is Jorden." The Winchester smiled, bouncing his hip a little, making the child giggle. "Jorden, this is your Aunt Donna."
"Hello!" The little girl grinned, holding up a motionless hand.
"Hey, precious girl. Golly, don't you look just like your dad?" Donna sang through her own bright, toothy grin. She then looked back to Sam, holding out expectant hands. "May I?"
In response, Jorden reached out towards her, making the adults chuckle.
"I guess that's a 'yes.'" Sam smiled, groaning slightly as her body weight was released from him.
Jorden tucked her head into the crook of Donna's neck and, in return, the woman rested her cheek on her copper brown hair.
"I'll help set up the warding." Jack offered, walking off before any reply could come.
"I'm sorry. About Eileen." Donna said after a moment, motioning for Sam and Eden to come to her for a hug. "So, Bobby's inside with his crew. We've got more folks headed this way. Put out some calls to the other Hunters; Garth, Jody and the girls. They're all on high alert, ready to act when we need them."
"Fat lot of use that's going to do if people are just disappearing out of thin air with no way to stop it..." Eden sighed, looking down at the dirt and pebbles beneath their feet.
"They're not on Death's list. They should be okay." Sam nodded, looking to Donna who was bouncing Jorden on her hip. "You should be okay, too."
"Yeah, if it's even Death doing this." The Dark Angel retorted. "We don't know that for sure. It could be Billie, it could be Chuck, it could be something we haven't even come across yet."
"No matter who it is, we're just lucky to have you helping." Sam looked to the Sheriff, who nodded.
"Anything you need." She said, giving the Winchester's arm a gentle pat before handing Jorden to Eden and walking off.
As she did, a familiar, old, sky blue pick-up truck pulled up and Charlie got out from the driver's seat.
She approached Sam, Eden and Jorden in military green and grey khaki pants, a sandy green over-shirt with a black graphic t-shirt underneath, slinging a black backpack over her shoulder.
"Hey." Sam greeted solemnly. "Glad you came."
"Yeah, um... I just don't want this to happen to anyone else." She nodded, then simply walked off towards the largest silo.
"Poor kid..." Eden sighed. "I don't even want to think about imagining what she's going through..."
The Winchester gave a crooked half-smile, placing his hand on her shoulder.
"You won't. Don't worry about me. Let's just worry about all these other people."
