Chapter One Hundred and Forty - Familiar Faces

"Hey..." Sam uttered, finding Eden sat on the exposed root of a tree on the outskirts of the camp.
"Hey." She sighed. "I'm sorry for shoving you like that earlier."
"No, it's okay. I get it. I know what you're like when you see red. I shouldn't have bothered trying to hold you back." He replied, sitting down next to her. "You missed a hell of a punch mom gave Lucifer, though. You would've been proud."
Eden gave a small, breathy chuckle as she looked up into the trees.
"I'm sorry I missed that." She smirked, leaning her head on his shoulder as she got serious again. "You scared the Hell out of me back there. I thought I'd lost you."
"You're not getting rid of me that easily." Sam smiled, arching his neck back a little to kiss her hair.
"I've never felt so..."
"Lost? Scared? Numb?" He offered. "That's some of what I felt when you died."
"Empty..." Eden whispered. "I can't lose you, Sam. It would break me..."
"It's okay. You won't. I promise."
"How can you promise that, though? We said we'd wait to make you and Dean immortal, but... What if something happens again like it did today?" She asked, sitting up to face him.
Sam sighed, taking her hands in his to rest on his knee.
"Okay..." He said. "I'll talk to Dean. If he's okay with it, we'll do it when we get home. Where we're safe and surrounded by our whole family. How does that sound?"
Eden thought the notion over, eventually nodding.
"Okay."
"I love you so much. You know that?" Sam smiled, looking directly into her eyes.
"I know. I love you, too." She nodded again, taking her hand from his to cup his jaw line as she leaned in, placing a delicate kiss on his lips.

"Mom's not coming." Dean huffed, walking towards Sam and Eden as they returned hand in hand.
"What?" Sam scoffed.
"She said she's not coming. She wants to stay here and help these people fight." The older brother shrugged, turning to the Dark Angel. "Think you can work some girly magic and help me talk some sense into her?"
"Where is she?" Eden asked.
Dean pointed in a direction behind him, drawing her gaze until it landed on their mother.
She walked over with the boys in tow.
"This true?" Eden cocked a brow. "You're staying behind?"
Mary sighed, throwing down a cloth she'd been using to wipe her hands.
"Seriously?" She looked to Dean, who gave another shrug. "Look, as I said to Dean, I respect these people and their cause. I've been with them for this long, I can't just abandon them."
"We have been mopping up the world for years. Years. We have been knocked down, we've been possessed, we've lost friends, we've lost family, we've lost each other. And we never walk away. Ever. And sometimes we should've, because not every fight everywhere can be won. It just can't. Alright?"
"I think mom's made up her mind." Sam said solemnly.
"See?" Dean clearly hadn't actually been listening to what he'd said as it took him a second to process. "Wait. What?"
"Mom doesn't wanna leave these people. So, let's take 'em with us."
Eden's brows raised.
"All these people?" She asked, looking around the camp.
"Sure. Why not? They'll be safer in our world." Sam shrugged.
"They'll never leave their home." Mary cut in. "They'll never leave their cause."
"Oh, I'm not saying abandon the fight," Sam defended. "I'm saying we get them somewhere safe, then we all figure out a way to take down Michael. Then once they do, they can come back and save their world."
"That's... Not an entirely terrible idea..." Eden frowned in thought. "If they'll agree to it."
Mary's lips turned up in a smile.
"You'd do that for them?"
"Well, we got... What, ten bustin' out? What's a few more?" Dean shrugged. "How many are we talking?"
The mother tipped her head, her eyes wandering to the ceiling of the shelter they were under as she mentally calculated.
"Twenty-Five?" She concluded.
Sam cleared his throat awkwardly.
"Well... That might be doable..." Eden commented, wrapping an arm around Sam's waist. "If anyone can do it, it's the Winchesters."
"Okay, well..." Dean sighed. "Getting an extra twenty-five through that rift, that may not be possible. But... As Eden said, if anyone can do it, we can, right?"
Castiel wandered in, his head hunched from the rain outside.
"Cas, hey." Sam greeted. "Any update on Jack?"
"He's back." The Angel replied.
"Great. Where is he?" The younger brother pressed.
"He's with Lucifer." Cas' voice was grave as everyone's brows raised.
"You left him alone with Lucifer?" Eden hissed. "Damn it, Pigeon... I'll be right back."

"Think about it, of all the powerful families in history. Forget the Tudors, Trumps, Jackson Five. We're numero uno." Lucifer said, sat on the edge of a barn with Jack.
"What's he like? God? I mean, I've heard about all the bad things he did to Eden, but I wanna hear from your perspective." Jack asked.
"Basically, the whole reason I was put in the Cage was because God didn't like that I wouldn't kill Eden." Lucifer explained.
"So, that's one of the very few things Lucifer and I have in common anymore. Our mutual hatred for your grandfather." Eden interrupted.
"Oh, heya, Red! Nice of you to join us. You're not gunna torture me again, are you?" Lucifer gave a sickeningly sweet smile.
"Don't tempt me, Luci." She mumbled, glaring at him.
"Hey. Hey!" Dean called, storming over with Sam and Cas. "I told you no talking. And I told you no listening." He threw an accusing finger between Lucifer and Jack respectively.
"I had it handled." Eden rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, Dean, he's in chains." Jack protested, getting to his feet.
"His mouth isn't!" The older brother raised his voice. "Shoulda gagged him."
"I need to know about my powers, my family." The Nephilim argued.
"Jack, we are your family." Cas spoke up. "We've been protecting you, we've been honouring your mother's wishes. We're your family."
"You have no idea who Lucifer really is." Sam continued.
"And I never will unless I talk to him." The boy retorted.
"Jack..."
"Dean!" He shouted. "He's my father."
"No. There's a huge difference between being a father and being a sperm donor." Eden told him. "However..."
"However nothing!" Dean argued.
"However!" The Dark Angel repeated through gritted teeth. "I think you have a point. We've done our best to tell you honestly about what Lucifer is like, but you have to learn for yourself."
"Finally! Someone talking sense. I knew you'd come around." Lucifer grinned up at her.
"Oh, no. Don't confuse this for some sort of kindness." Eden glared. "This kind-hearted Devil act won't hold up for long. You'll show your true colours eventually. So, until you do, you can have your conversations with him. Just... Jack, take what he says with a pinch of salt."
Jack nodded, sitting back down.
"Are you serious?" Dean argued. "You're seriously gunna just let this happen?"
"He can make up his own mind. Pushing him away from Lucifer will only make him more curious and more susceptible to Lucifer's crap. So let him do his listening, let him ask his questions. But, he can do it on the road, since we're packing up." Eden stated.
"Packing up? Are we going back already?" Jack frowned.
"Yeah. And we're taking everyone with us until we can figure out a way to stop Michael." Sam nodded.

"So..." Sam started about a mile into the walk to base camp. "Eden and I were talking and we... Came up with something."
"Oh, yeah? What's that?" Dean asked.
"After what happened with Sam... And I can't believe I'm going to say this, but... We were lucky Lucifer was there to bring him back. I'm worried that something like this will happen again and this time, there won't be any do-overs. So maybe, if you wanted to, we could do the spell to make you both immortal when we get home and everything's settled down a bit." Eden explained.
"Oh, wow..." Dean's brows raised as he took a deep breath. "I mean, yeah, that makes sense."
"So, what do you say?" Sam pressed.
"It was gunna happen eventually, right?" Dean smirked, looking at the path ahead. "So... Sure. I'm in."
"We should reach base camp in a couple of hours." Mary said, stopping her walk briefly so they could catch up.
"Guys, go back there and check out what Helter Skelter's sayin' to the damn kid." Dean sighed, looking back to see Lucifer and Jack muttering to each other.
"Don't worry, I've been listening in every now and then." Eden replied.
"Anything of interest?" Sam asked.
"Nothing major. Lucifer knows I can hear him. He's unlikely to screw up with me so close." She shrugged.
"Yeah, well, just go and keep an eye on it, would you?" The older brother pressed.
Eden glanced to Sam, nodding as he did before pulling back on their walking pace.

"How's it going?" Sam asked, continuing the walk alongside Jack.
"I was just telling my dad that, now that he's here, we have enough power to kill Michael." The boy replied.
"Jack, that's not really the plan." The Winchester sighed.
"Isn't it?" Eden frowned up at him.
"This is our chance!" Jack protested.
"I mean yeah, we'll get Michael eventually, but for now, we've just gotta get these people to safety back in our world. Then, we can figure out a way to take down Michael without Lucifer." Sam elaborated.
"I'm here aren't I? Might as well save the world a little before we go." Lucifer shrugged.
"We don't have time to stop off and kill Michael thanks to you." Eden glared at him. "If you'd have just been a good little pup and stayed where you were; feeding the rift, we wouldn't be on a time crunch right now."
"And you'd be one fiancé short." The Devil countered.
Eden huffed, rolling her eyes.

"Hey. Find him?" Dean asked an approaching Castiel up ahead.
"No." Cas replied. "Gabriel went ahead to scout, but he should be back by now."
"Angels!" Screamed Gabriel as he ran for his life towards them.
Immediately behind him, almost a dozen Angels came from the tree line.
Sam, Dean and Mary drew their guns, aiming straight ahead. Behind them, the rebellion did the same.
"Kill them. On my command." The Angel obviously in charge ordered, his fist raised by his head.
Just as he was about to speak again, all of the enemy Angels burst into dust.
The Winchesters, Eden, Cas, Gabriel and Jack turned to Lucifer, who had his hand up in a finished finger snap. The cuffs around his wrists burned orange before melting off of him.
"Oh, yeah, about the cuffs - I knew they wouldn't hold me in this world." He smirked. "Long story short, I didn't want your impotence to get awkward, so I just went along. You're welcome. Welcome. Right? Don't... Thank me all at once." He grew a little uncomfortable at the stares as he looked to Jack. "See? Team player."
"You say that like it makes you impressive or something." Eden glared.
"Um, excuse you, missy. I am impressive." Lucifer frowned.
"No, you're right. It's impressive how someone could be this much of a manipulative arsehole." She retorted, a scowl deep set on her face.
"Stop." Jack hissed.
Eden sighed, turning to continue the walk.

It didn't take too much longer for Eden to realise where they were headed. As they marched through South Dakota, she got an uncomfortable tingling sensation in the pit of her stomach.
When they reached 'Singer Auto Salvage', her feelings were confirmed.
"This is it?" She asked quietly, staring at the sign and the junkyard filled with foliage-covered cars and a campsite up ahead.
"This is it." Mary nodded.
"Bobby Singer is still alive in this world." Eden sighed.
"Not only that, he's one of the leaders of the rebellion." Jack replied.
"We saw him. Just before Jack was born when we were here the first time." Sam said. "Creeps me out. You know? Especially being back here."
Eden's gaze snapped up to him.
"You knew? You knew what we were heading into and you just didn't say anything?" She demanded.
"Technically, I didn't know we'd be coming here. But yeah, kinda." He shrugged, briefly glancing to Dean, who looked more than a little uncomfortable about what he knew was coming.
Eden visibly tensed up.
"You've known this world's Bobby was alive and around since Jack was born?" She raised her voice, looking between the brothers. "And neither of you thought 'oh hey, this could be something Eden might wanna know'? Are you bloody serious?"
"We didn't wanna upset you unnecessarily. After how hard you took our Bobby's death, you know?" Sam sighed. "Baby, I'm sorry."
"Save it." Eden growled.
"Didn't think I'd be seeing your faces around here anytime soon. It's good to see you boys again, though. I knew you couldn't stay away." The familiar voice sent a shiver down the Dark Angel's spine. She looked over, seeing the man she'd missed for years, dressed in a sandy coloured military uniform and matching beret. She noted how much older and worn he looked. "What's her problem?"
"Um... Bobby, this is Eden; my fiancée. She knew you in our world." Sam introduced. "You guys were friends for decades."
"And you haven't seen this old face since your world's me kicked it, I'm guessing?" Bobby asked.
Eden shook her head.
"I'm sorry, it's just-"
"Don't worry. I get it." Bobby held up a hand. "So, you knew other me for a long while, then?" Eden nodded. "Well, he must've thought you were pretty good company, in that case. You're as welcome here as the rest of 'em."
"You know where we can find Charlie? Or Ketch?" Dean asked.
"Oh, God..." Eden breathed. "I forgot Charlie was still around here, too."
"They ain't back yet. They got a tip on an Angel kill squad lookin' to execute some resistance. They went to head 'em off at the pass." Bobby looked to the older brother.
"You let Charlie go with Ketch?" Dean frowned.
"She let Ketch come with her. It's her operation." Bobby retorted.
"Bobby, we're gunna have to hit the road soon. We're running out of time." Sam spoke up.
"Now, about that..." The man started. "Mary said you wanna take a bunch of our people back to this 'other Earth'?"
"Yeah, yeah, that's the idea." Dean nodded.
"Well, no offence, but that may be the dumbest friggin' idea in a landfill of dumb ideas." Bobby replied.
Eden let out a breathy chuckle, devoid of humour as she looked down to the ground.
"This is too much... I'm sorry, I'm gunna go for a walk." She uttered.
"Want me to come with you?" Sam asked.
"No." Eden replied, sharply, walking off.
"What's got her in a bunch?" Bobby frowned, watching her leave.
"We kinda didn't tell her you were still around on this Earth." Dean told him.
"Friends for decades and you decided not to give her a head's up? No wonder she's pissed at you." The man looked up at Sam, who gave a heavy sigh and gentle nod.
