Chapter One Hundred and Fifty-Nine - Emotionally Unstable

Jack walked into the cell behind Eden, a weary frown on his face.
"I said I wanted to talk to him alone." Nick said, looking up at them.
"And you will. As soon as we've got the information we need." Eden replied, walking over to settle behind him.
"Wha- what are you doing?" The man stuttered, turning his neck in various directions to look at her.
"Did Dean hit you a little too hard or something? I've literally just told you what I'm doing." The Dark Angel rolled her eyes.
"Tell us where Donatello is and she won't have to go searching through your mind." Jack glared at him, standing a few feet away, head on.
"Wow. You're so tough." Nick chuckled. "That's your pop, you realise."
"My father was a monster." The Nephilim retorted.
"Everybody's a monster. Even your three dads and your mom. How many innocent people do you think they've killed?" The man smirked.
"Answer the question!" Jack shouted.
"He loved you. You know that? He did." Nick nodded. "I felt it. He loved you so much. And you broke his heart. Come to think of it, you both did. Ain't that a kicker?"
"I know better than anyone the toxicity of Lucifer's love. It's worse than his hatred." Eden muttered.
"He preferred you with a soul, though, Jack-y." The man laughed.
Jack saw red. He stalked over to Nick, grabbed the collar of his white button down shirt and head-butted him, sending blood droplets from the both of them flying everywhere.
"I have a soul!" He yelled.
Eden's brows raised at the sight as Nick glanced down to Jack's blood on his shirt.
"That's enough. If your goal was to get battered, well done. But this conversation isn't going any further." She looked to Jack, who nodded before healing himself.
Before Nick could say anything more, she put her fingertips to his temples and closed her eyes, sending black smoked magic through his brain.
Nick let out an ear-piercing scream as her magic flowed through his memories, tracking down exactly where he'd put Donatello.
"Please! I'll tell you! Please, just stop! I'll tell you where he is! I can take you to him! Please!" He wailed.
"Want me to stop?" Eden asked.
"No. Keep going." Jack replied.
That had been a test.
Eden stopped what she was doing and stared in disbelief at the boy as Nick's head lulled forward, gasping for air.
"Squab..." She whispered.
"Why did you stop? We need to find Donatello!" Jack demanded.
"He just told us he'd take us to him and you want me to torture him anyway?" Eden frowned. "You're the most caring person I know, Jack. You'd never tell me to do that. And you definitely wouldn't watch like I know you did. Your soul really is gone, isn't it?"
Jack sighed, looking to the floor.
"Does it matter?" He mumbled, walking off towards the door, where Mary, Sam and Dean were waiting on the other side.
"How did it go?" Mary asked.
"He said he'd show us where Donatello is." Jack replied, walking off towards his room.
The three Winchesters looked between each other before peering into the room at Eden, who sighed, shaking her head.

After making an antidote for the poison, Eden handed it to Sam and sent him, Dean and Nick to the Impala.
Meanwhile, she decided to go and talk to Willow, who was in her room.
"Come in." The young Vampire called after Eden had knocked.
The Dark Angel pushed the door open and gave the girl a smile.
"Hey. You okay?"
"Yeah..." Willow sighed, leaning back on her bed. "I, uh... I was just thinking about Banner Elk – about Tobias."
"We made quite the team." Eden nodded, stepping into the room. "You and I still do."
"Yeah, we do." The girl replied. "I just miss him..."
"I know, Baby..." Eden uttered, walking over to sit next to her on the bed. "Today must've been tough. Seeing Nick... Seeing the only version of Lucifer you ever met."
"It was horrible... I felt all those emotions just rush me all at once. Tobias was like a big brother to me. I feel like I should've done more to protect him."
"Darling, the only thing doing more would've done is get you killed alongside him. If Rowena wasn't there that day to protect you, that's exactly what would've happened. I'm just glad it didn't. I don't know what I would've done if I lost you, too." Eden pulled her into her side, stroking her hair as the girl began to weep.
"Eden?" Mary called from down the hall, shortly followed by the sound of running footsteps.
"In Willow's room!" She replied, waiting a few moments until the footsteps got louder and the mother appeared. "What's wrong?"
"Nick. It wasn't Valium he injected Donatello with, it was grace. He injected him with Angel grace." She panted.
Willow lifted herself out of the hug, a confused frown on her face.
"Why would he do that?" She asked, rubbing the tears from her cheeks.
"I don't know. But, I think the boys are walking into a trap."
"Have you called them?" Eden stood up, readying herself.
"Sam knows." Mary nodded.
"Okay. Stay here." The Dark Angel instructed before disappearing.

"The Demons want him back almost as much as I do." Nick told Sam, stood beside the Impala up a slope from what appeared to be a logging factory. "Maybe they want their King and Queen back together. Isn't that right, Eden?"
"How on earth did you know about that?" She frowned.
"A little birdie told me." He smirked, shrugging.
As he did, the cuffs he'd been wearing fell to the floor and he grabbed Sam.
Sam reared back and elbowed him twice to the face, shortly followed by a knee to the gut, throwing the man to the floor.
"He's trying to bring Lucifer back from the Empty. That was his plan this whole time!" The Winchester shouted, climbing on top of Nick to punch him in the face. "Go get Dean and Donatello. I've got this!"
Eden didn't say anything, simply vanishing and reappearing in the building she'd just been looking at.

Dean was fighting off a Demon in a large, freezing cold brick room, with another about to attack him from behind.
Donatello was on the floor, watching in horror as the whole thing went down.
"Stop!" Eden yelled.
Neither Demon moved an inch.
Dean spun around, looking to the Dark Angel, whose hair was once again silver and her eyes black with their red rings – her way of letting him know that she hadn't unleashed her darkness again.
"You want Lucifer back, I hear." She sneered at the Demons, who cowered in their places.
"It's what he would've wanted, my Queen. You at his side, ruling us the way Hell intended." One of them replied.
"Well. That's not going to happen. Looks like I need a culling in the ranks." She retorted, spreading her arms out.
Black smoke flew from her fingertips, engulfing the Demons, who screamed. Their vessels dropped, falling into a pool of black goo – pure, liquefied Demon.
"Nice timing." Dean commented, watching as Eden's hair returned to its classic red and her eyes back to blue.
"Let's get out of here." She nodded, moving to help Donatello to his feet as the Impala's horn sounded outside. Her eyes widened as she looked to Dean. "Sam..."
The Winchester ran over, grabbing Donatello.
"Go. I've got him." He told her.
Eden nodded and vanished.

Sam was falling out of the driver's side door with blood coating the side of his face as he called out his brother's name.
"Sam! It's me, I'm here." Eden ran to his side, helping him up off the floor into a seated position against the car. "What the hell happened to you?"
"Nick, he had a rock... I don't know where he went." He replied. His eyes struggled to stay open and his head kept lulling forward as she looked him over.
"You're concussed. Here, let me help." She sighed, placing her hand on his
forehead.
Black smoke poured from her palm, healing his wounds, but he still wasn't entirely with it.
"Sam!" Dean yelled, running to his brother with Donatello hobbling along behind.
"I healed his wounds but it still looks like there's something wrong. He said Nick hit him with a rock. You need to call Mary." Eden told him.
Dean nodded, standing up to get his phone.
"Mom? It's Nick. He's trying resurrect Lucifer." He said after his mother answered.
"What? How?"
"I don't know but he's trying. This whole thing has just been one massive ploy."
"We have to stop him." Jack spoke up, obviously stood next to Mary.
"We don't even know where he is, okay?" Dean huffed, looking over at Donatello, who was phoning an ambulance. "He hurt Sam. He got him in the head. Eden's healed the wounds but he still looks out of it. Donny's called an ambulance but we're really far out and I don't wanna move him or teleport just in case."
"Alright. We're on our way." Mary told him, hanging up the phone.
"Sam, just look at me, alright? Look right into my eyes for me." Eden instructed.
Sam did as asked, his neck seeming particularly weak as he struggled to keep his head up. "Just look into my eyes. Tell me about them. They're really green, right?"
"They're blue. Stop testing me." He uttered lazily, his own eyes still struggling to stay open.
"Can't you do something? Send your magic deeper and find out what's wrong?" Dean asked, crouching down by them.
"If I do that and I get it wrong, it could do more harm than good. Jack might be able to do it, but it'd still be risky." She replied, not taking her eyes off her fiancé.
"You're saying a Nephilim could fix this?" Dean clarified, earning a nod. He glanced between her face and her abdomen. "Eden, you have a Nephilim. Jack shared his power with Kelly a few times. I don't see why yours wouldn't be able to do it with you."
"This baby was conceived a week ago, Dean. I doubt even it is that powerful yet." She huffed.
"Eden. This is Sam. You have to try."
"Dean?" Jack's voice came from above them, making them look up. "Sam!"
The boy ran over as Dean made room for him.
He placed two fingers on Sam's forehead, his eyes glowing gold.
Sam gasped out, his eyes becoming alert in a second.
"Nick. Where's Nick?" He asked, sitting up.
"I stopped him. It's over." Jack replied.
Sam looked around rapidly before his gaze returned to the boy.
"What about mom?"
"She's fine." Jack breathed, a small smile creeping on the corners of his mouth. "Everything's gunna be fine."
"Thank you, Squab." Eden nodded. "I'm not entirely sure I could've done much like that. Now, go get Mary and we'll meet you back home, okay?"
Jack's smile grew before he disappeared in a ruffle of feathers.

Back at the Bunker, everything seemed oddly quiet.
"Mom!" Dean call through the building as he placed his duffel bag on the map table.
"Mom? Jack? Willow?" Sam followed up, doing the same with his bag.
The young Vampire came scuttling out through the library.
"They're not back yet." She said, moving to hug Sam. "I'm so glad you're okay. I was really worried."
"I'm fine. Don't worry about me." He hummed, wrapping his arms around her tiny frame.
"Weird... All Jack had to do was zap them back." Dean frowned, pulling out his phone. "I'll give her a call. See where they're at."
"Jack was acting weird before they left. They were going to drive to you, but then Jack got this feeling. He said Nick had his blood and that he was using it to resurrect Lucifer. He took Mary and I think that's where they went, but I haven't heard anything since." Willow stated, looking between the three.
A phone next to a set of keys on the map table began to vibrate. Eden picked it up, seeing Dean's name on the screen. The older brother looked to Willow.
"You said they left in a hurry?" He asked, earning a nod. "They probably just stopped for a bite to eat. Mom usually gets a little hangry after a hunt."
"Yeah, probably." Sam nodded, watching as Eden left the room to head to the kitchen.

The four sat at the table in the library with beers for the boys and blood for the girls.
"Well, hey. Here's to another miraculous Sam Winchester survival." Dean charged his beer bottle as the others did, clinking the glass. "Gotta say, man. If Jack hadn't have healed ya..."
"I'm sorry I couldn't do more..." Eden sighed, leaning back in her chair next to the younger brother.
"I believe you could've done it." Dean shrugged, sipping his beer. "Between your power and the power that kid's gunna have, you know? All you need to do is figure out how to use it."
"Maybe it's like when Kelly was pregnant with Jack." Sam added. "He used his power through her when it was needed."
"Maybe..." Eden mumbled into her glass, running her free hand over her flat abdomen.
"Gotta hand it to Jack, though. I feel like we'd be up the creek without that kid, lately. You know, first with Michael, now Nick..." Dean thought aloud.
"Kinda sounds like you're bummed about it." Sam chuckled.
"Na. Get out of jail free card? I'll take that." The older brother scoffed as the younger pulled out his phone. "You trying Jack?"
Sam nodded, getting out of his seat.
"It's ringing, at least."
They waited for an answer, but none came.
"Vampy Pants. You wanna try..."
"Zapping over? Sure." Eden nodded. She went to do just that, but nothing came of it. "That's odd..."
"What happened?" Willow asked.
"Jack's got me blocked and Mary... I can't seem to find her." The Dark Angel frowned.
"Okay, now I'm getting worried." Dean huffed, getting up to pace the room. "I'm gunna try Jody. Guys, you go through your contacts – see if anyone's heard anything."

Dean re-entered the library, hanging up the phone.
"What did Jody say?" Sam asked, now sat in front of his laptop.
"She hasn't heard anything. You?"
"Nada. Left voicemails for Charlie, Donna, Bobby..."
"Rowena?" Dean pressed.
"Yeah. Just got off the phone with her, she says she might have a spell that could track him down." Sam replied.
"That sounds like an awful lot of mights and coulds..." Eden observed just as Dean's phone rang.
He answered it with a 'hey, Cas.'
"I got Eden's message." The Angel said. "Nick was trying to raise Lucifer?"
"Yeah."
"Where is he now?" Cas sighed.
"Kid said he took care of him, so... Right now we're just trying to find Jack and mom. Eden said Jack's got her blocked and she can't get a location on mom. It's like they've just dropped off the face of the Earth, you know?" Dean huffed, clearing his throat.
"Are they together?" Cas asked.
"Last we checked, yeah."
"Alone?"
"What? Yes, Cas." Dean frowned. "Yes, they were together alone."
"What's he saying?" Sam asked, earning a shake of the head.
"Cas?" The older brother pressed.
"I, um..."
"If you have something to tell us, now's the time." Dean urged.
"I saw Jack... He did something when I got home with Sam and Eden the other week. I went to check on him and... Felix was sick."
"Felix? You mean the snake?"
"Yes." Cas replied. "Jack used his powers. He killed the snake. I think Jack considered it a mercy? I was gunna tell you, but-"
"You were just gunna wait until we were already freaked out." Dean interjected.
"When I was with him and Nick..." Eden sighed. "I asked Jack if he wanted me to stop my magic on Nick since Nick was begging that he'd show us where Donatello was. Jack said no. It was like he felt absolutely nothing seeing Nick in such pain. It was like..."
"Like what?" Dean frowned.
"Like he was almost enjoying it... Or at the very least, finding it intriguing or something. Whatever it was, it wasn't Jack."
"I don't think Jack is well, Dean." Cas spoke up.
Dean didn't say anything, he just hung up.
"Where'd Little Vampy Pants go?" He eventually asked, looking around the room.
"She said she and Jack were working on a computer program of some sort – said that they built a thing that could track celestial energy." The Dark Angel shrugged. "Pretty incredible, if you ask me. But she says she's using that to see if Jack's been using his powers anywhere we don't recognise."
"A computer program to track Angels?" Sam raised his brows.
"Yeah." Eden scoffed, smiling. "That girl isn't just a pretty face. She was on her way to an MIT scholarship before she was turned."
"How did I not know this?" The younger brother chuckled, shaking his head in slight disbelief.
"You wanna be gushing about your kid's achievements some other time and not when a ticking time bomb is in mom's immediate proximity?" Dean raised his voice.
"I've got something you might want to see." Willow interrupted, walking in with Eden's laptop in one hand and some sort of homemade device wired up to it in the other.
She placed it down on the table and scooted the screen over.
On it was a map of the world. Celestial energy was lit up in three places.
"This is a live feed." She explained, pointing to the spot where Kansas was lit up. "This is Eden and the baby." She pointed over to another spot. "Here, I presume, is Castiel." Another spot was flagged up in Nepal. "I think this is where Jack is."
The spot instantly faded as another appeared in Peru, then France, then
Madagascar.
"He's bouncing around all over the place." Eden frowned.
"What the Hell's he doing?" Dean rhetorically asked.
"The last time he did something like this, he was severely emotionally unstable." The Dark Angel recalled. "Something's happened. Between him saving Sam and now, something bad happened, I can feel it. We know he only blocks me when he doesn't want to be found."
"Wait, I think he's stopped." Willow pointed to the screen again. "You guys go. I'll let you know if anything changes."
The trio were already headed towards the exit before she'd finished her sentence.
