THIRTY SEVEN

Late post today- Been a long day and decided better late today than doubling tomorrow!

Chance picked himself up from the floor. He pulled out his phone and dialed a number. He didn't even look at the clock. He didn't care what time it was.

"Oh shit." Rob said sleepily as he looked at his caller ID. He skipped hello when he answered his phone. "Is everything okay?"

"NO!" Chance shouted. "I need you and Austin in Adam's room right now." Chance hung up before Rob could ask any questions. He belatedly realized that he should have told Rob more.

A few minutes later there was a pounding on the door. Chance answered it and almost got run over by Rob and Austin barreling in the door. "What's wrong? Is he okay? What happened?" Rob and Austin shouted at Chance.

"Guys, calm down." Chance said as he grabbed both men by the arm. "I'm sorry for getting you all worked up. Adam is okay physically. Vomiting up his insides but that isn't why I called you here."

Rob had calmed down a bit "Then why I am awake and worked up right now?"

"Long story short" Chance said quietly "Adam got up to vomit and it yanked his earbud cord out of his phone. I heard the music playing and was shocked at what I heard. I listened to the whole song and then called you."

Rob and Austin just stood there and looked at Chance until he continued. "I won't make you listen to the song. It's heart wrenching. But I pulled up the lyrics." Chance handed his phone to the guys to look at.

Time left scars on my soul
The dreams that i chased have all gone away
Now i sit alone
My past follows me close
So much i had planned that never began
Now i'll never know

For years i'd been waiting for someone to take me
And tell me it will all be alright
Now I'm just waiting around to die

Life starting to fade
My memory recalls as the tears start to fall
From the memories not made

And Love, i knew little of
But deep in my eyes are memories I hide
But it's just not enough

For years i'd been waiting for someone to take me
And tell me it will all be alright
Now I'm just waiting around to die

For years i'd been waiting for someone to take me
And tell me it will all be alright
Now I'm just waiting around
Now I'm just waiting around
Now I'm just waiting around
To die

Rob handed Chance's phone back. "You don't think he'd actually hurt himself do you?" Rob whispered, aware that Adam wasn't too far away.

"I don't think he would do anything purposely." Chance quietly replied. "But I'm afraid that if I hadn't intervened he may have drunk himself to a dangerous point tonight." Chance sighed. "I can't let this go on any longer. Austin, I need you to stay with Adam. Rob, I want you to come with me."

Austin nodded his head. Rob asked "Where are we going?"

"We're going to talk to Tim." Chance murmured. He didn't want Adam to hear him.

Austin had a tough stomach so he decided to sit in the bathroom with Adam while he was sick. He got a cool washcloth to wipe his mouth and redid his ponytail- making sure to get all the strands that had fallen loose.

Chance took a deep breath and knocked on Tim's door. He was just about to knock again when the door opened and he saw Dena standing there bleary-eyed. "What could you boys possible need at this hour?"

"We need your son Ms. Dena." Chance replied. "Before you ask, it's very important, yes it needs to be done right now, and no I can't tell you what it's about. Could you wake him up for me?"

Dena was left speechless. She woke Tim and ushered him out of the room before he could ask questions she didn't have answers for. Rob and Chance escorted Tim to Chance's room and dropped him in a chair.

"Do you guys mind telling me why you woke me up in the middle of the night and kidnapped me?" Tim asked with a confused look.

"Because we need to talk Tim" Chance replied. "We've got questions that we need answered. I usually try to be non-confrontational but I need to know what the hell is going on with you this last week?"

Tim was still confused "Uhh, my mom has been here spending time with the grandchild she never knew she had and I've been spending time with her."

"And completely ignoring Adam." Rob shouted.

"Is that what this is about?" Tim chuckled. "Guys, Adam and I are fine. We talked about this before my mom got here. She doesn't know I'm bi so we are acting like just band mates."

"You really think Adam is fine?" Chance was starting to raise his voice. "Then you haven't been paying any attention at all. Damn, Tim"

"He may be a little quieter than normal but he's been fine at the shows." Tim shrugged.

"That's called acting" Chance grumbled. "It's his job to be happy on stage."

"Oh my God, Tim. You haven't had any contact with him. No words, no touches, not even a text. And you think he is okay with that?" Rob questioned.

Chance was having trouble controlling his voice at this point. "I might be able to excuse not noticing his behavior on show days when we're busy but are you so blind that you missed everything last night?"

"He had a few drinks, which isn't his normal. But..." Tim trailed off

"A few drinks?" Rob laughed "If Chance hadn't slowed him down and eventually stopped him all together he'd be in the hospital or dead right now." Tim's face lost a little color. Rob continued "Thankfully, he's just vomiting his guts up and will probably feel like shit tomorrow."

Chance butted in "Did you not see his roller coaster of emotions last night? Listen to the songs he was playing on the jukebox? Tim, he's NOT okay."

Tim didn't want to admit he hadn't payed any attention to Adam all night "I guess I really didn't listen to the background music."

"It was a playlist for the heartbroken: Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Love Hurts, How Do I Live Without You, No Air." Chance sighed. "And when you said your mom was leaving tomorrow... Well that was first genuine smile I've seen from him all week. And it lasted all of ten seconds until your mom said she was staying. That's when the drinking started. And I can't even talk about his most recent playlist."

"You need to fix this, Tim." Rob commanded. "Adam needs you."

"I don't know the reason why you can't to talk to your mom but you are jeopardizing your relationship with Adam because of it. Figure your shit out, Tim" Chance yelled the last sentence as he walked Tim out the door and shut it in his face.

Rob approached Chance cautiously. "Why didn't you tell him about the song?"

"I have my reasons but I don't think I could put them into words right now." Chance sighed as he put a hand on Rob's shoulder. "The three of us are just going to make sure Adam isn't alone for awhile."

"Why don't you head back to bed." Chance suggested. "I'll finish the night with him."

They both headed out the door and noticed Tim sitting on the floor in the hallway. He looked up at them with tears in his eyes. "I've not been a very good boyfriend lately" he mumbled.

Rob tried to lighten the mood "The first step is admitting that there is a problem." He headed down the hall for his room.

"Boyfriend?" Chance sneered. "You haven't even been a friend lately."

Chance started to walk away from Tim "Where are you going? Isn't this your room?"

"I'm going to check on your boyfriend." Chance snapped at Tim. "I'm not leaving him alone tonight."

As Chance continued down the hallway he heard Tim say "Can you make sure he checks his text messages?"
