FIFTY SIX

Tim stepped into Adam's arms and lay his head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry." He sniffled. "I just wanted to love you this morning. I wanted to make you feel good and all I did was make you mad. I'm sorry."

Adam rubbed the back of Tim's head as he spoke. "No, baby. You were great. I'm the one who needs to apologize. I overreacted and got pissed for no reason. I'm sorry I got mad. I'm sorry I ignored your apology. And I'm sorry I made you upset. It kills me to see you cry, especially knowing I caused it." Adam held Tim for a few minutes before he spoke again, "May I bathe you?"

Tim smiled into Adam's shoulder, "I'd like that."

Adam washed Tim's hair and gently scrubbed his body as if it were the most precious thing he'd ever held in his hands. Tim's body reacted to Adam's touch but he wouldn't let him take care of it. "I don't want this to be about release" Tim said as he pushed Adam's hand away. "I just want to remember how loved you've made me feel right now." Tim's words brought tears to Adam's eyes.

"What did I ever do to deserve you?" Adam asked before kissing Tim gently.

"I don't know but I'm glad you did it." Tim whispered into Adam's kiss before pulling away and stepping out of the shower. They dried each other off, got dressed and joined Jenika at the table.

"You both look much happier. Did you kiss and make up?" She asked.

Tim smiled and nodded and Adam said "Yes, thank you for the verbal smack to the head."

Jenika laughed, "You're welcome."

Tim looked at his boyfriend with confusion, "Adam?"

"Jenika may have not so subtly pointed out that I was being an ass." Adam laughed. Tim shook his head at Adam and mouthed a silent 'thank you' to Jenika.

An hour later they were pulling into Cindy's driveway. They all took a deep breath before getting out of the car. Tim and Adam walked around to the passenger side where Jenika was standing.

Cindy heard the car pull up and was watching the trio out the kitchen window. They had no idea that their every move was being scrutinized. Adam was facing the house with Tim and Jenika facing him. Cindy could see Adam looking down at the ground with a slight frown on his face. She could only see the side of Tim's face but it appeared he was talking to Adam. Tim placed a hand on the side of Adam's face and rubbed his cheek with his thumb. She watched a smile spread across her son's face as he raised his head to look at Tim. It also appeared that Jenika was smiling at both of them.

Adam pulled Tim into a hug before they both grabbed Jenika and pulled her into the hug too. Tim and Jenika each placed a kiss on Adam's cheeks as they stepped out of the hug, took another deep breath and headed for the front door. Cindy stepped away from the window so they wouldn't see that she had been watching them.

Just before the trio got to the door Jenika turned to her two men, "I don't know what happened in that bathroom this morning but you two are practically glowing. No offense Adam, but if your mom can't see how in love you two are then she's completely blind." Adam and Tim smiled at Jenika before turning and smiling at each other. Tim gave Adam a quick kiss before knocking on the door.

Cindy answered the door and welcomed them into her home. She hugged Adam and then turned to Tim. "Timothy, it's good to see you." She said before giving him a quick hug. Once she stepped away from Tim, Adam introduced her to Jenika. They shared an awkward hug and then headed for the living room to have a seat. Adam sat in the middle of the couch with Tim and Jenika on either side.

Adam opened his mouth to speak but Cindy held up her hand to stop him. "May I speak?" She asked. Adam nodded his head and tried to look calm but his heart was racing. Tim could see that his anxiety level was rising quickly so he reached out and took Adam's hand in his and threaded their fingers together. Tim slowly glided his thumb over Adam's hand to calm him. Adam's breathing regulated and his heart rate started to slow down almost instantly.

^*^*^*^*Cindy's monologue in italics below^*^*^*^*

I've gone through more emotions and feelings in the last twenty four hours than I have in most of my life. I've made up my mind and then changed it again multiple times in the last twenty four hours.

Right after you left yesterday I was beside myself. I couldn't figure out where I had gone so wrong in raising you that this had happened. I was certain that I would never see you in heaven. I cried for so long.

Once I finally dried my tears I prayed. At first I prayed for you, all of you, that God would speak to you and show you the error of your ways. Then I prayed for me. I asked for comfort and for wisdom and guidance in how to deal with the situation. In that moment multiple scriptures popped into my head and I felt a sense of calm wash over me. I was reminded that it is not my place to judge. That too is a sin. And that as a Christian it is my duty to love and accept all of God's children. I still wasn't happy about this (she motioned to the trio).

When I was done praying, Tim, I called your mother. I realize now that I was out of line but at the time I was still trying to figure this all out. I hope, someday, you'll forgive me. (Tim nodded his head) Thankfully, Dena was aware of the situation and we talked for awhile. You're mother is very kind and a smart woman. She reminded me that as a parent I had said so many times that I just wanted my children to be happy and healthy. She told me that she had spent some time with you recently and that you are all very happy. Tim, she said she has never seen you happier than when you are with my son. (Adam smiled as he looked at Tim and squeezed his hand)

I figured it might take awhile for me to see that firsthand but fate stepped in and we were at the same restaurant last night. (Tim, Adam, and Jenika all looked at each other warily) I saw you when I walked in so I asked to be seated where I could see you but you wouldn't see me. I wanted to see what Dena was talking about. At first you looked like any group of friends that had gotten together for dinner. You were talking, smiling, laughing... But then I noticed the small details. You touched each other frequently: a little rub on the shoulder, a hand on the arm, even just setting your hands on the table so they were close enough to touch. And then there were the looks you gave each other. Some I could have done without seeing (she raised an eyebrow as they all tried to hide their smiles at the thought of some of the lustful looks they had given each other) but others so were full of love and kindness that I felt it across the room.

I knew last night that Dena was right but just a few minutes ago it was confirmed. I was watching out the window when you pulled up and were talking by the car. Adam, I don't know what Tim said to you but your smile and the love in your eyes told me everything I needed to know. And your group hug melted me heart. I don't know how this is all going to work out but I can see that you're happy and that is all I've ever wanted for you.

Adam didn't know if his mom was done talking or not and frankly he didn't care. He crossed the room quickly, pulled her from her seat and wrapped his arms around her.

Sorry that got a little long winded but I thought we needed to completely work through Cindy's thought process.

To be continued...
