The streets were lit with street lights in the dark summer night. Twins Hallie and Peder were walking down their familiar neighborhood. Both were carrying heavy bags as they shuffled along to their friend's house.

"Did you get everything." Hallie asked as they walked to Flynn's house.

"Of course I did." Peder said to his sister. "I don't know how Flynn is going to get out though."

It had been planned out. School had just ended and the gang had planned on a summer road trip. Their parents had done the same thing their senior year. Peder and Hallie had asked to do it but their parents said not until senior year. As did Flynn's parents. But they couldn't just sit and do nothing all summer. So Peder had come up with the idea to leave their parents notes and go anyway. They would take Flynn's car since he was the only one with a car. Peder and Hallie left their parents the note and now we're heading to pick up Flynn.

"Mom's going to flip when she finds out." Hallie said.

"She'll understand, she ran off a couple times when she was our age. We'll just tell her it's part of us coming into adulthood." Peder replied.

"Okay but you get to explain that to mom and dad."

Peder rolled his eyes "Why? They like you better."

"They do not." Hallie laughed. "I'm so much more trouble than you."

"No you just don't hide it as well as I do. Plus that will all change once they find out I don't want to go to Stanford."

"You're only sixteen they'll think your going through a phase." Hallie said. "While I've been going through mine since preschool,"

"I think you mean birth." Peder joked.

"Shut up moron."

"What? You-"

Hallie clamped her hand on her brothers mouth.

"I mean shut up idiot we're here and the chief's lights are still on," Hallie whispered.

The Chief was known as Flynn's dad, Jack Frost. He technically wasn't a chief but a detective but that was the kids' nickname for him.

Peder took Hallie's hand off his mouth. All windows were dark except for the top two. Flynn's room and the Chief's office.

"Shit there is no way Flynn can get out now." Peder whispered.

"Text him." Hallie insisted.

Peder got out his phone and began texting Flynn. They didn't know if they should stay in front of the house or if they should hide.

Finally Flynn texted back.

Flynn: I got it under control. Be out in a few.

"He's going to get us caught." Hallie said giving Peder back his phone.

"Well without him we don't have a car. So there isn't much of a choice." Peder said.

Flynn came to his window and threw something out of it.

"Are those his bed sheets?" Hallie whispered.

"It won't work." Peder said.

It had appeared that Flynn tied his bed sheets to his bed and now was going to use it as a rope ladder to get down and sneak out. The only problem it was on the second floor.

Flynn slowly went down the ladder of bedsheets. It was a classic sneak out method.....although he hadn't tried it before. He probably should've tied some pillow cases too, just to make it longer, but it was too late now. He was at the end of the rope he looked down. There was 8 feet of air between him and the ground.

"He's not going to jump...right?" Hallie asked.

Flynn took his grip off the ladder of sheets and dropped ungracefully to the ground falling into the bushes.

"Does that answer your question?" Peder replied.

"Flynn what the hell you were going to get us caught." Hallie whispered.

"Relax let's just get in the car before my dad decides to check my room." Flynn said.

"Or I could just tell him where you are." A voice said.

They looked to the right and saw Flynn's little sister Rosalie standing in the doorway.

"Okay time to go home." Peder said.

"Rosalie please I'll do anything just don't get mom and dad." Flynn told his little sister.

"What's my reward?" She asked.
"20 bucks?" Flynn asked.

"Nope. I got an idea. Take me with you!"

"What?! No Rosie you're way too young for this trip." Flynn said.

"That's what mom told you and you're still doing it." Rosalie said.

"I'm sixteen, you're fourteen." Flynn stated.

"Take me or I'll tell dad." Rosalie said.

"Fine!" Flynn whispered.

"Okay let's go!" Rosalie said.

"Go change the note that way they don't think your sister's been kidnapped." Hallie said.

Flynn went inside the house while the others got in the car. It was the same car Jack owned when he was in high school. It was now Flynn's and boy did he love the old piece of junk just like his father had when it was brand new.

"So where are we going first?" Rosalie asked.

"We're stopping at San Francisco and going through tons of states until we reach New York." Hallie replied.

"Wow that's really far." Rosalie said.

"You still have the chance to get out." Peder said. "If it's too much for you."

"It won't be." She replied.

Flynn got in the driver's seat. "Everyone ready?"

"To San Francisco chauffeur!" Hallie said.
