(Guy in the chair arc) Part 6

I swung my door to my apartment open before slamming it shut and locking the door. I made my way past my living room and into my kitchen that I rarely use, I went under the counter and opened a few cabinets to reveal some beakers, a burner mat, a few vials, and a tube rack, basically everything you need for a science lab experiment.

I set up my equipment, using my cooking range as a makeshift burner, and connect some of the flasks with a metal tube and a few other contraptions, I went into my room and took a whiteboard that was lying around and set it up next to the living room.

I dug through my pockets and fished out Peter's notebook and went ahead and copied everything on the notebook to the whiteboard. Effortlessly, I waved my marker on the board as if I was familiar with it, but in reality, inside I was shaking. My best friend's life is on the line here, if I made a mistake then I might run out of time.

I manage to write everything down, I looked back and noticed that I wrote past the whiteboard as some of the formulas are written on my wall and floor.

Y/n: "I can clean this up later, so what's next?"

I flicked past a few more pages on the notebook until I reached a list of all the ingredients he used.

Y/n: "Yeesh, these are some high-class chemical compounds he had. How did- Oscorp! Peter you one slick sonuva bitch"

I rummaged around my apartment and found some of the leftover ingredients from when Peter and I swiped some Oscorp chemical during our field trip, and he said I was the wicked one.

I grabbed the ingredients needed and added them to my flasks and immediately began the experiment, The moment I started the burner the flask, along with the chemical immediately combusts. Causing shards of glass to shoot out around the kitchen as I manage to duck under just in time.

Y/n: "Why am I not surprised?"

I grabbed another flask and added the chemical again, this time with a much lower flame. It started without a hitch but when it reached the second chemical the chemical turned black, becoming unusable.

Y/n: "This is gonna be a long day"

(3rd POV)

Y/n went on and did a few more tests, doing trial and error as he adjusts every variable in his experiment but all led to one thing, Failure.

Y/n: "Dang! Another bust *sigh* That was test what again...? I couldn't even remember

Y/n reached next to his cooking range and grabbed the container with the chemicals, only to find it empty when he shook it in his hand. Y/n cursed under his breath before looking at the label at the container and finding out that it was a compound made from everyday materials.

Y/n: "I could probably grab some of this from the store, and I think I ran out of milk just the other day...Store it is"

Y/n placed the container back down and walked out the door, accidentally bumping into his cooking range before walking out of the apartment. Y/n however failed to notice his range started whisking out gas, slowly enveloping the kitchen with an open fire from his make-shift burner.

Timeskip

Clerk: "Next please!"

Y/n placed his items on the counter, placing the carton of milk last.

Clerk: "That'll be $13.40"

Y/n took his wallet and grabbed a $10 bill, he looks around a bit more but found that he was $3.40.

Y/n: "I'm short on cash"

Clerk: "Well you got enough for a few of these items, except for one"

Y/n: "So what item can I not afford?"

The clerk then points at every item the Y/n placed down, including the milk.

Y/n: "Oh, you've gotta be kidding me?"

Clerk: "Listen, buddy. Either pick one that you won't buy or none at all"

Y/n: "Come on man, maybe we could lower it down to say...$10 exactly?"

Clerk: "Sir this is a convenience store, you can't hustle your way down the price"

Y/n: "Ugh, fine! Leave the milk"

The clerk then bagged the rest of his items, leaving the milk out before giving it to Y/n.

Y/n: *sigh* "Guess I'm gonna have cereal without milk today"

Clerk: "Next please!"

Y/n then walks out of the store with a sulking expression about his milk, just as the man that was behind him pulled out a gun and began robbing the store.

Y/n is then immediately hit with the surprisingly cold air of Manhattan causing Y/n to shiver a bit in the cold. He peeks inside the paper bag and took a deep sigh beh=fore walking away.

(~????????????~)

Y/n: "That hasn't done that before"

The door to the store busts open as the man with the gun from before ran out with a bag of money. He trips next to Y/n, dropping a bottle of milk conveniently on his feet before finding his footing and running away.

Y/n: "Oh, look free milk"

(~?????????????~)

Y/n: *thought* 'Seriously what is going on?'

Clerk: "Hey! Somebody stop that man!"

The clerk ran out of his store looking distressed and looked around for the man until his eyes landed on Y/n.

Clerk: "Hey-Hey, Kid. Stop him he's getting away!"

Y/n: *thought* 'Why does this seem familiar?'

Y/n turned to where he last saw the man, he then looked further and noticed a familiar woman walking on the sidewalk with a large bag of groceries.

Y/n: "Oh no...Aunt May!"

Y/n breaks into a dash, vaulting over a few cars with his items still at hand. The man bumps into Aunt May, leading her groceries to scatter around the sidewalk as the man clicked his tongue in anger as he points his gun towards Aunt May.

Robber: "You little bitch!"

Y/n: "Hey!"

The robber turned to his side, only to be met with Y/n's fist as it collided with his face, launching him towards the wall. Y/n grabbed the robber's gun and punched him in the face, 1 more time, knocking him out. Once the robber was out cold he quickly kneeled next to Aunt May to check if she's okay.

May: "Y/n!?"

Y/n: "Aunt May! Are you hurt?"

May: "No, no...I'm fine"

Y/n: "Oh, thank god!"

May: "What are you doing here?"

Y/n: "Just some late-night grocery shopping. What about you? A long way from Queens"

May: "Same as you, a bit of a late-night grocery run"

Y/n: "Do you want me to walk you back home?"

May: "No, it's fine. Don't want to hold you up, you need to go home too"

At the corner of his eye, Y/n noticed a Firetruck speeding past cars on the street as they made way for it as it made its way in the direction off...

Y/n: "My house!"

May: "What? What's wrong?"

Y/n: "Sorry, May. But I gotta go"

Y/n gathered May's groceries that were nearby and places them near her before running after the Fire department.

(Y/n POV)

I stood on the sidewalk, shocked. My eyes widened and my mouth agape as my items from the convenience store are all plastered around the sidewalk, all while I watch as my apartment is ablaze as the firemen tried putting it out while evacuating the people in the apartment.

Pedestrian: "Oh my god, what happened?"

Pedestrian #2: "I heard it was a gas leak, someone must've left the stove on"

Y/n: "No...all my work. My STUFF!"

I ran across the barrier, jumping over some policemen and firemen, before running inside the still on fire building. The Firemen tried to push me back and told me to not go in but overpowered them as I continued up the stairs.

As I ran, the planks underneath me gave way, forcing me to jump onto the wall and run up towards my floor, It was a good thing that no one else is around.

I manage to reach my apartment, busting down my door as I saw my entire apartment on fire. Every furniture I ever own caught on fire, even the walls are chared to the crisp.

Y/n: "No, no, no!"

I dropped to the ground and push away the ashes around a part of the wall, trying to find the formula that I have written down, the whiteboard, or even Peter's notebook.

Y/n: "This can't be happening. No, there's no way this is happening!!"

I dug further but proved to be fruitless as I saw the whiteboard all charred up, along with pieces of what I assumed to be what was left of Peter's notes.

Y/n: "Dammit!"

I tossed the remains of the notebook before running to my room, Even though the door was sealed shut, it wasn't safe from the fire. Every poster on the wall began burning to cinder along with my clothes that are sprawled around the floor.

Y/n: "My suit!"

I found at the corner of my room is my spider-suit. I quickly ran to my suit and pat out the fires that are on my suit, saving it a bit from going ablaze but the tech that was on it fried up, rendering the suit features useless.

Y/n: "This is really going downhill for me...Can this get any worse!!?"

(~!!!!!!!!!!!!!~)

As if the world heard my call, the roof suddenly collapsed on top of me. I manage to jump out of the way, leaving my suit behind as it caught up on the rubble. I looked around one more time and found my bag, hanging next to my closet.

Y/n: "Oh hell no! Not my bag too!"

I jumped over the rubble and dove to my backpack and into my closet. I slammed hard into the ground, backpack now in hand as rubble fell just outside the closet, trapping me inside the closet.

Y/n: "This is it...This is how I die, this sucks! Man I wish I was with Gwen right now. Oh, wait!"

I took the bag that was in my hand and rummage around inside until I grab ahold of what I was looking for. Once I felt something metal in my hands, I pulled it out and saw my Dimensional Hopper intact and untouched.

I placed it around my wrist and began placing the coordinates into the machine before going to another dimension. To Earth 65

I entered the coordinates and activated my hopper, sending me to an all too familiar web of dimensions, all without the glitching was a welcomed exception. I was then shot out into a portal before I felt my body flicker onto a sidewalk.

I faceplanted hard on the ground from my travel, I groaned in pain before rolling onto my back and blocking out the sun with my arms.

Y/n: "Wait...Sun!?"

I shot up from the ground and sat up straight before looking around, I immediately noticed the clear sky and the sound of the restless streets of New York.

Y/n: "I'm alive...I'm Alive. Yes! it worked!!"

I screamed high in the air, scaring a flock of birds and causing a few New Yorkers to look at me strangely.

Y/n: "Probably, shouldn't say that out loud"

A school bell began ringing to my left, I look to the side and noticed Midtown high adding further to my excitement.

Y/n: "Looks like I don't need to walk far"
