In the school science lab, a teacher in a lab coat and safety goggles is in the middle of a discussion about mixing chemical compounds, as shown by a graphical representation of two chemical compounds mixing.

Teacher: "Now remember class, be sure to add the compounds slowly. Even a slight miscalculation may result in a deadly chemical reaction"

Y/n: *mutter* "Oh please, try to fail to mix high-grade Alchemax chemicals and have it combust in your face"

Y/n groans to himself as he slouches back into his chair before turning to his seatmate Peter, who was analyzing a chemical compound from Y/n's formula and see it reacting to his blood.

Y/n: "How's the ol' research going?"

Peter: "It's amazing! Your blood seems to break the compounds down to their molecular level. What's strange is that it's reacting to your blood like it's a radioactive material"

Y/n: *mutter* "Radioactive blood? That could be a good line in a theme song"

Y/n: "If it helps, I was bitten by a radioactive spider. It also caused my DNA to be altered so there's that"

Peter: "It seems that way..."

Y/n: "Speaking of DNA, you don't think adding my blood to the formula might have side-effects, like say...having the same abilities as me?"

Peter: "As far as I could say? No, the chemical formula alone can rearrange the DNA of a human, so with your already altered blood it neutralizes the DNA altering part of the compound"

Y/n: "Oh thank god, I mean could you imagine what it would be like if all of Manhattan have powers just like me?"

Peter: "Manhattan would be a circus fest of Spider-men"

Y/n: "I know! Man I would never want that to happen"

The school bell rings, signifying the end of their classes. They, along with their classmates, packed up their bags and arranged all of the equipment at their assigned table before exiting the lab.

Teacher: "Oh and a reminder to all students who haven't submitted their form application for Career Day, it starts in the next few weeks!"

Peter: "So what are you gonna sign up to for career day?"

Y/n: "Same thing as last time, Police. I'd already submitted my form to the Police station to shadow Captain Stacy, per usual"

Peter: "You sure that's a good idea?"

The two reached their lockers and swap out their books for the next period

Y/n: "Sure it is if I want anyone to shadow. Why not the Police captain?"

Peter: "Well, I figured since...you know with-"

MJ: "Hey!" 

Y/n and Peter look over to see MJ with Gwen and Miles

Y/n: "Feeling impatient to just meet us at the cafeteria?"

MJ: "Not exactly, but since we're all here we could walk together"

She took her spot beside Peter and began leading the group with him by her side as Gwen, Miles, and Y/n walk by the back and let the two have a moment with Y/n snickering at his best friend's slight fluster.

MJ: "So what are you guys gonna do in career day? Figure out who you'll be shadowing?"

Miles: "I'd just be strolling around Brooklyn with my Dad"

MJ: "Oh, you're Dad's a Cop, right?"

Miles: "That he is"

MJ: "What about you Gwen?"

Gwen: "I'm shadowing a journalist at the Daily Bugle"

MJ: "Oooh~ Nice, What about you, Pete?"

Peter: "Oh, I'm uh...I'm going to be working with a scientist at Oscorp"

MJ: "I'd bet you look cute in a lab coat"

Peter: *blush* "Uh...Th-Thanks. What about you? What job are you shadowing?"

MJ: "You would never believe it, I get to shadow a model for the Vogue magazine!"

Peter: "Woah, I think you're gonna crush it when the day arises"

MJ: "Aww, Thanks, Pete. You're so sweet"

The group then reached the Cafeteria and noticed Betty and Gloria already saving a spot for them.

MJ: "Oh right, Y/n. I never got to ask, what job are you gonna shadow?"

Y/n: "Glad to know I'm still in this conversation"

MJ: "I'm sorry, I'm just still very excited that I could be a part of my favorite magazine"

Y/n: "Well to answer your question, I'd also be job shadowing a police officer"

MJ: "A bit ironic, isn't it?"

Y/n: *scoff* "What's that suppose to mean?"

MJ: "Word on the street is that you tag walls around Manhattan"

Y/n: "Hey, Miles tags his stickers all around Brooklyn"

Miles: "Hey...That's true though, I'm not gonna deny that"

Y/n: "Besides,  Me and the cops are cool. Speaking off, Gwen, is Captain alright? I haven't gotten a reply from him yet"

Gwen: *sigh* "Can you guys give us a moment?"

Gwen then grabbed Y/n by the arm and moved to the side to talk in private. MJ then leaned towards Peter and Miles and whispered towards them.

MJ: "What's the deal with those two?"

Miles: "Your guess is as good as mine"

Peter: "Those two used to date"

MJ: "For real? I thought they were just really good Frenemies"

Peter: "No...that was when Y/n trying to cope with the break up"

MJ: "Are you and Y/n in good terms Miles? You know, being Gwen's new BF and all"

Miles: "I think Y/n and I are cool, he doesn't seem to be holding anything against me"

Peter: "He's not one to blame others in his predicaments, he just keeps it to himself and try to change"

MJ: "Wow, he sure did move on if he could be comfortable with his ex"

Peter: "Yeah, he definitely 'moved' on"

Back with Y/n and Gwen, they decided to have their conversation by the vending machine to have a bit of distance between their friends.

Y/n: "He did what?!"

Gwen: "He threw you form out and said that he wants nothing to do with you"

Y/n: "Wow...gotta admit that really hurt me for a bit. But why the sudden change? Is it because of what happened? To, you know, us?"

Gwen: "I think it does"

Y/n: *sigh* "Goddamnit..."

Gwen: "I guess you'll just have to find another job to shadow, sorry Y/n"

Y/n: "I just don't get it!"

Gwen: "Get what?"

Y/n: "Why are others are much more affected by our break up than us. Here I am talking to you normally and I was the one who got dumped"

Gwen: "I thought we both agreed that it was a mutual thing?"

Y/n: "Yeah, but come on. We both know deep down what happened. I know I wasn't a good boyfriend for you and that I think you deserve better"

Gwen: "Pity won't get you anywhere, Y/n"

Y/n: "I'm not asking for pity. I really am happy that you found someone special. I'm happy for you two"

Gwen: "You are? You're not mad at him or anything?"

Y/n: "No! If anything I'm mad at myself. Did you think I was grumpy because of him?"

Gwen: "It's just- I thought"

Y/n: "Gwen, it's fine. No need to explain yourself, also thanks for telling me this in person. It means a lot to me"

Y/n nods to Gwen before walking past her and went to get in line but Gwen puts her arm out to stop Y/n, confusing him"

Gwen: "I'll talk Dad and try to convince him into accepting your career day form"

Y/n: "You sure? Because I was just gonna commit real life spam"

Gwen: "I think you would get in trouble for that"

Y/n: "Really? Oh well that goes that plan"

Gwen: "Just send out one more form and I'll deal with the rest, cool?"

Y/n: "Why the sudden change all of the sudden? Not that I don't appreciate it, it's just, confusing to me"

Gwen: "I think you're right, people shouldn't be more affected by our relationship than the two of us. It's about time that he realises that"

Y/n: "Well, glad to see you're finally in your rebellious phase"

He was then playfully punched in the shoulder by Gwen.

Gwen: "Whatever dork"
