Chapter 4
Her funeral was just like Mom's.
Sad.
I felt the same way I felt four years ago. Like the world is ending, there is no hope for me.
My heart was completely shattered when I saw my dad sobbing.
After the funeral it took me a little bit to realize that I would never see my grandma ever. Again.
It was pretty lonely and quiet for the next few days. My dad planned a trip for next week going all the way to Illinois, one thousand six hundred twenty two miles away.
----
"Hurry! The train leaves in an hour!!!" Dad yelled from outside.
"Coming!!" Oakley and I said at the same time.
On the way to the train station dad acted oblivious. It didn't seem like grandma even left.
"Go on." My dad motioned for the train. " Get us a seat away from other people. "
"Already on it!" Oakley said, jumping on the steps of the train.
Weird. I thought to myself.
Dad and Oakley are acting as if we didn't just lose our only other family member.
"I can't wait to get to Illinois!!" Oakley exclaimed.
" Yeah. " I scoffed looking out the window.
I couldn't help but crying when Oakley got up to use the bathroom, I held in my tears for hours, a burning feeling in my eyes.
"Are you okay?" An unfamiliar voice asked.
I turned around to see a light brown haired young beautiful girl.
"Um yeah." I said wiping my eyes off.
" yeah and I'm Beyonce. " She said jokingly sitting where Oakley once sat.
What is taking him so long?
"What's wrong?" She asked once more.
" My Grandma just died, my mom died a few years ago, my brother and dad are acting as if they were brain washed. "
"Oh I see." She said nodding her head. " My dad died when I was six, my uncle shortly after. "
I sat up quickly.
"I pretended as if nothing happened." She said. " I'm Emma by the way. " she said putting out her hand for me to shake.
"I'm Chance." I replied weakly.
