I was asleep in bed, though I wasn't truly asleep....it was more like I was remembering something..... something from my past....

I was in darkness, walking around confused and curious until I saw to figures fighting each other. Both had tremendous skill and agility, one wore a mask of a lamb, the other of a wolf.

The lamb spoke first...
"Are you there dear wolf?"

"I am, little lamb"

"Are you sad?"

"I am..."

I try to walk towards them but there was some kind of barrier.

"Hello? Who are you?"

They only ignored me as they fought, so I sat down to watch.

"What does it feel like?"

"A long hunt with no kill"

They stopped for a moment, staring at each other longingly.

"How old are we, lamb?"

"Older than those whose footsteps are long vanished"

"Many years"

"I remember them all.."

"How long will we be together?"

"Forever more"

"Never one.."

"Without the other"

The lamb moved as if she was blind, the wolf tilted his head as if he was hard of hearing.

"This is weird...."

I looked around and could see someone who looked just liked me on the other side of the barrier, watching the two as well. Though she had pure white hair, dark brown eyes, and seemed to be more tan.

I called out to her.

"HEY!! OVER HERE!"

She didn't even see me.

"Never one.."

"Without the other....Have they forgotten us yet, little lamb?"

"All still know us, though they try to forget. Soon...we will remind them. All will know us.. in time"

They both sat down and a light appeared above them, seeming to show a story of they were saying.

"What do all stories have in common, dear wolf?"

"They end."

He then laid his head in the lamb's lap.

"Lamb, tell me a story"

"There was once a pale man with dark hair, who was very lonely."

The light showed the silhouette of a man as she told the story.

"Why was it lonely?"

"All things must meet this man so.. they shunned him"

"Did he...chase them all?"

"He took an axe and split himself in two. Right, down, the middle"

"So he would always a have a friend?"

"So he would always have a friend"

They both stood up and began to fight again.

"I see water!"

"They are called tears"

They were so close, it looked like the other could loose at any moment.

"Is this what it feels like to end?"

"I do not know, for this is not our end"

"Do others come back?"

"Those who do, wish they hadn't"

They froze in place again, this time they were in a field. It showed the life around it, until it caught fire. Though the Wolf and Lamb didn't burn.

"All life is temporary. All things great and small"

"Die"

The Wolf pounced at a figure of light, going straight through it. The field on fire long gone.

The lamb sighed softly.

"There are so many way to die... The only true death is to never live."

The Wolf began to pace around.

"Is it time?"

"We will soon awaken from this place slumber."

I couldn't help but think that this was a weird dream.

As if hearing my thoughts the Lamb spoke.

"We are not dreams, we are the waking"

I was shocked.

"I'll be quiet now..."

"All things linger..."

"In our shadow."

"Life is ours"

"To end!"

The Wolf lunged at the barrier in my direction, before it could hit it the Lamb grabbed him. The Wolf growled and glared at me.

"None can hide"

The Lamb stood next to him, facing my direction.

"Though many try. Those whose run from death...stood still in life. They laugh."

"And scream!"

"And dance."

"And flee. They race from us!"

The Wolf growled, the Lamb gently rubbed his head to calm him down.

"Only to find us sooner"

"They know we'll come."

"Yet they are never prepared.. treasure your final moments"

The Wolf walked towards the barrier, staring at me.

"We know your name"

The Lamb nods

"We have always known it... All your life has led to this moment"

I was confused and stood up.

"What do you mean by that?!"

"It's heart beats fast now!"

"It knows.."

I hit the barrier.

"Know what?!"

"Beauty fades... That is why it is beautiful"

I stop, taking in what they had been saying now.

"Tomorrow is a hope, never a promise. Your time has come."

"But I'm not ready yet.... What about my friends and Glitch?..."

"Ready or not!"

My eyes widen.

"N-No!!"

"A fine life reaches it's conclusion. When you see us,"

"It's too late. No match for us!"

I summon my sword, but it's flung away.

"Few are, dear Wolf"

I was in shock, staring at them in fear.

"I wonder how they see me.."

"Ashes on wool"

The barrier faded and they started circling me.

"What sound do they make?"

"Feathers falling on fresh snow. How does hunger feel?"

"Always there"

"Peacefully, they go"

"Hungry, we follow"

I was trying to stay away from them the best I could.

"If it draws breath"

"It meets us"

I start to back away, breaking out into a run.

"Go easily"

The Wolf began to chase me

"No! Thrash, flee! Run, if you can! Who's next?!"

"Everyone"

I keep running and hide.

"Every life..."

"Ends with us"

"How one dies shows how one lived"

The Wolf pulls me out of my hiding place, pinning me down.

"They struggle, good. This next one will be easy"

"And if not?"

"More fun"

"Embracing life means accepting death"

The lamb placed her hand on my head.

"Hush now, rest. Depart in peace"

I cry and struggle.

"I'm not ready yet!!"

"Return to nothing. Time to.."

"End this, lamb calls"

"Wolf strikes."

The Wolf bites my shoulder, causing me to scream in pain.

"And everywhere lamb went.."

"Wolf was sure to follow"

The Wolf bit my other shoulder. I scream again, I couldn't move either arm.

"And everywhere lamb went.."

"Wolf was sure to follow."

They both disappeared in a mist. I was left on the ground, trying to move my arms. I then wake up, I shot up, panting, and shaking.

"What the hell was that?"
