Chapter 17

The next morning, Roman was woken up by William pouring a large bucket of ice cold water on him.

"What the hell, Will?" Roman asked.

"Your breakfast is ready. Get downstairs." William told him seriously.

Roman sat there in bed for a moment soaking wet.

When he finally got downstairs for breakfast, William seemed to be in a bit of a mood.

"That girl is a bad influence." William told him.

Roman let out a sigh and started eating his food.

"She's not that bad." Roman assured him.

William took a big breath.

"Maybe her helping you isn't the best idea." William tried to say.

"She is helping me, William. End of story." Roman told him.

William gave Roman a frustrating look.

"Look I know that you have a big heart, Roman. I'd just hate to see anyone take advantage of that." William told him.

"I know what you think of her and I think you're wrong. She may be helping me with finding out who killed my parents and improving my training but I think maybe she's actually the one that needs my help." Roman explained.

"And how is that?" William asked unbelievably.

Roman played with his food for a moment and thought to himself.

"I think she needs a friend.. someone that she can trust. No one deserves to be that lonely." Roman thought out loud.

William seemed to be getting more and more frustrated.

"I get that you want to help everyone all the time but sometimes people just don't want to be helped. Not everyone wants to be fixed." William told her.

Roman thought that over for awhile as he finished his breakfast.

Outside Bayley house, she and Ricochet were having a rather heated argument.

"You killed someone Ricochet! How could you possible ever think that I would be okay with that?" Bayley asked in tears.

"You weren't supposed to find out-." Ricochet began to say.

"Oh so you ere just going to lie to my face like you've been doing this entire time?" Bayley asked.

"I wasn't lying." Ricochet tried to tell her.

Bayley shook her head at him.

"Why didn't you tell me about your past? About who you were before you came to River Haven?" Bayley asked.

"I don't know.. I was ashamed I guess." Ricochet said.

"How am I ever supposed to trust you again if you can lie so easily to me?" Bayley asked.

Ricochet looked at her helplessly.

"How can I ever feel safe in your arms again knowing what you're capable of?" Bayley asked with an ache in her heart.

"I'm sorry.." Ricochet told her with a crack in his voice.

"So am I.." Bayley said as a tear fell down her cheek.

Ricochet watched in devastation as Bayley walked back inside making it very clear that they were done.

When Renee got into work that morning, she stood behind Phil in the break room as she waited to get a cup of coffee. She was completely expecting Phil to make some kind of smart remark to her but when he turned around all she saw was the bruises on his face. He looked at her almost fearfully and didn't say a word. Renee looked back at him in confusion as he hurried out of the break room.

It wasn't long after she went back to her desk and got to work that a delivery man walked in and brought Renee a bouquet of roses.

"Are you sure these are for me?" Renee asked.

"Renee Young?" He asked.

"Yeah." Renee said.

"They're definitely for you, ma'am." The delivery man said as he sat the flowers down on the desk.

As he walked away, Renee read the card on the flowers.

"Apologies for the other night. Can I get a do over? I'll have a car pick you up at 8pm."

-Roman

Renee let out a smile to herself as her heart grew warm.

In the Ridges, Shawn Micheals pullled up to to a run down apartment building and knocked on the door to apartment 2d.

"Who the hell are you?" Adam Cole asked.

Shawn looked him up and down and covered his node.

"What the hell is that smell?" Shawn asked as he let himself inside

Adam gave Shawn a confusing look as he examined the place. There were nearly a dozen of empty liquor bottles on the counter.

"You look like shit and frm that smell I take you haven't showered in a week." Shawn said casually.

"Who the fuck are you old man?" Adam asked.

Shawn looked over at him for a moment.

"I'm your dad, kid." Shawn told him.

"Excuse me?" Shawn asked.

"Your father, your pops, your old man, you da-da." Shawn tried to explain.

"Yeah, I think I get the point." Adam said.

Shawn looked down awkwardly for a moment.

"I guess you should probably pack your stuff up. You're coming with me." Shawn told him.

"Like hell I am. You can't just come in here after twenty years and tell me what the hell to do. And why should I even believe a word you're saying? Where's your proof, da-da?" Adam smarted off.

Shawn stared at him furiously for a momnet.

"Well.. You're a stubborn little shit. You definitely get that from me." Shawn told him.

Adam furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.

"I actually thought maybe you would have my attitude so I came prepared." Shawn said as he handed his a file.

"What's this?" Adam asked as he looked through the papers.

"That's a list of offenses I could charge you with. I think there's up to about seventy two years of jail time there. Not to mention that with that illegal weapon charge I could get a search warrant and probably get you on a few more serious charges like assault or maybe murder." Shawn explained.

Adam looked up at him curiously.

"You're a cop?" Adam asked.

"Sure am. Now let's get you crap and get out of here." Shawn told him.

At Sasha's house, Bayley had shown up hoping to get support from her long time best friend.

"I'm sorry but she's not here right now. I think she went to the diner." Told her.

"Oaky, thanks."Bayley said as she walked off.

At the diner, Sasha was ordering a milkshake to go when she noticed Alexa sitting in a booth by herself. Joe was standing just a few booth away, keeping a close eye on her. Sasha walked over slowly and approached her.

"You look like you had a rough night." Sasha told her.

Alexa looked up and let out a sigh of relief. Sasha took that as an invitation to sit down so she did.

"I'm sorry about my mom yesterday.. " Sasha tried to tell her.

"No it's okay.. I get why she was upset. It was wrong of me to even show up like that." Alexa told her.

"Then why did you?" Sasha asked curiously.

Alexa looked across the table as Sasha for a moment and let out a small laugh.

"I don't know, maybe because I like talking to you." Alexa told her.

"Yeah, I am pretty cool to talk to." Sasha joked.

Alexa now let out a big laugh. Sasha's gaze froze sa she admired Alexa's smile.

"So what are you doing here all alone?" Sasha asked.

"I couldn't stay at home this morning.. Sometimes I feel so trapped behind those walls." Alexa told her as she began to tear up.

Sasha watched as Alexa began to get sad again. Without thinking things completely though, Sasha reached her hand across the table and rested it on Alexa's. Alexa looked down at Sasha's hand on hers with a warmth in her heart. She smiled through her tears at Sasha.

Outside, Bayley had walked up to the diner in search of Sasha. Her mind was occupied with her own thoughts of her fight with Ricochet but everything went blank when she saw Sasha with Alexa inside the diner through the window. Bayley just stood there for a moment, not understanding why she felt so hurt. Not only that but she was confused as to when and how Sasha and Alexa had somehow become friends.

On the docks, a black SUV pulled up and Seth got out of the back. Jay and Ruby were waiting for him.

"What's the problem?" Seth asked.

"You're not going to like this boss.." Jay told him.

Seth saw the worried looks on Ruby and Jay's face's.

"Tell me." Seth said.

"The guns are gone." Jay told him bluntly.

Seth looked at him in disbelief.

"What do you mean they're gone?" Seth asked.

"We've got less and twenty left." Ruby told him.

Seth's face turned red with rage.

"How the hell do you lose guns? We had them locked up!" Seth yelled.

"Liv went over the security tape. It was some asshole in a mask." Ruby told her.

"A mask?" Seth asked in confusion.

Suddenly, another SUV pulled up and Finn got out.

"Is now a bad time?" Finn asked as he put his hands in his pockets.

"What is it?" Seth asked.

"My boys have been waiting by the checkpoint all morning.. Our shipment never came in." told him.

Seth looked at her in confusion.

"What the hell do you mean it never came in?" Seth asked.

"Looks like someone found out about us dealing in The Ridges." Jay added.

Seth looked down angrily.

"Maybe like you need to make a little visit to you old friend, Dean Ambrose." Ruby told him.

Seth was seething with rage as he tried to wrap his head around all the bad news.

"Let me take care of Ambrose. In the meantime I need you guys to find Rebecca Lynch. I want her alive." Seth told them before getting back into the car.
