Unknown's P.O.V.

"West Kelowna," A worker said to me holding up pictures from street cameras, "Beatrix Solomons and Scarlett Clyde have moved there to hide from the Brocks."

I smirked taking the photos from his hand, "Good work,"

"Are we going to send this to Harden?" He asked smiling at me mischievously,

I shake my head, "Not yet, let her drop her guard alittle."  Right now, she is probably on the lookout for anyone that seems suspicious or creepy. I needed my men to keep a close eye on her, maybe even help her if she landed in trouble, I needed to keep her safe for now.

Scarlett Clyde is the key to everything.  "Has Justin gotten his attention?" I asked him.

"Justin is meeting with Harden this morning, I am sure it is about to start." He replied.

Smirking I throw the photos on the table, "Good," Everything is working in my favor.

This is the beginning of their destruction.

. . .

Harden's P.O.V

Fixing my watch I wait for. the elevator door to open, this man has been testing my patience alittle too much. I demanded a meeting yesterday but he had given me one only for this morning. Justin Wyatt, the CEO of Wyatt Industries, the spoilt fucking heir who thinks he. can get away with saying no to me. Walking up to the receptionist I give her my name, who nervously searches it in her computer. "Right, he is waiting for you in the boardroom. " She said pointing at a large room to my right.

"Right," I said before heading over to the room, I opened the doors to see him sitting at the far. end alongside his COO, Derek Coleman.

"Ah, there he is." Justin said smiling. at me, but I was in no mood for their games. anymore placing my bag on the table I whip out six files of their ongoing murder trials. I slid each and every one down the length of the table, and watched the color drain from his and Derek's faces. "W-Where did you get these?"

"I have connections." I snapped, "Now, will. the two of you stop fucking around with me, or do I have to dig in deeper, and hand the prosection proof that Derek and your sister have a hand in these?"

Derek glared at me, "Threats dont go down well-"

"FUCK OFF!" I raised my voice alittle, "Being lead on doesnt go well with me." He shrunk back alittle, as Justin stood up frantically gathering all the files. "We are not the ones that came knocking on your door you did." I went on, "So I think investors that have to fucking ask companies, no beg companies to take their money from them should know their fucking boundaries." We did not need them as badly as they thought, but I was not going to let them disrespect me, or the company names any further.

Justin breathed out shakily, "Derek," He grabbed his arms stopping him from responding, "Look Harden, let's make a deal. You will stop digging into our past," A past where his sister and his best friend ran over six fucking homeless people who were sleeping on the sidewalk. The city has cases against them but unfortunately, the street cameras were down for maintenance that night. "You want a deal? I'll give you a deal." His hands visibility shook, good that was what was missing.

The innate fear, while dealing with us, our company, and our fucking family.

. . .

Loosening my ties as I got back to my own office I threw down the rough draft of the contract they had offered me. I still had to go through it and work out kinks that I didnt like or if Dad didnt like something. Shurgging my coat off, I flipped the first page over but it felt as if the words on the paper had begun shrinking and disappearing off of it. I felt so overworked on both ends these past three days, it was unbelievable.

Groaning I relax back into my chair when there is a knock on the door. "Who is it?" I ask tiredly,

"Me," Eliza said opening the door and smiling at me. She had a small basket in her hand, as she flaunted her amazing in a tight black dress. "Suprised?"

I chuckle tiredly as she ignores the two seats infront of my desk and sits on my lap wrapping her arms around my neck. "Very," I whisper brushing some of her hair to the back exposing her neckline. "I actually was about to call you."

"Lier," She smiled, my hands gently wrapped around her waist brushing the spot I knew Scarlett had hit with the small pocket knife. "I'm okay,"

"I know," She is a fighter, something I always looked for in a girl. This had started off as just a fling, but Eliza took the time to stick around, get to know me, got to know my family. . .until she began like a safe place. "I'm just made that it happened." When I heard that Scarlett attacked her, my heart jolted, I wanted to stay with her in the room but her firmness of me going after her sent me away.

"Babe," Eliza whispered softly, "It wasn't your fault," I nodd breathing out heavily, "Now, let's stop talking about Scarlett, and let's talk about you and me." She moved her legs so she was straddling me, "It's been a while since you have given me any attention."

"Yeah?" I ask smiling at her mischievously,

"Yeah." She confirmed.

My hands stayed put on her waist as I leaned up for a kiss, or so she thought. Eliza's eyes fluttered shut as I got closer, but instead of kissing her, I began tickling her, causing her to quickly fall into a fit of laughter. "Hey!" Her hands came to stop mine, "Harden," She said my name through her giggles, "S-Stop!"

Her laugh echoed in the emptiness of my office, as a big smile stayed glued to my face.

This is what was missing in my life. Some fun, some laughter, some light. . instead of darkness.

. . .

Scarlett's P.O.V

"Here are your schedules," The administrator said handing  Bea and my classes for the semester as Jaxon had already transferred our credits to UBC of Okanagan. I guess he had thought. about this really long term. Bea thanked the individual as we began exploring the campus, "This feels so good." She breathed out, "Being here, starting new, away. from all that chaos."

I smiled at her looping my arm with hers, "Agreed." It had been only two days since Jax and Mom left us here alone, but in these two days, I have felt more happiness than I have ever felt in the last 21 years I have been alive. "This is what freedom feels like."

Bea smiled brightly as we walked around the campus looking for the first classroom, finding after a whole thirty minutes we arrived late to our shared math class. Bea and I aspired to be two completely different things, Bea wanted to go the science route, while I. wanted to go the business route. I know how ironic, but a business that did good for the community, not rotting it.

The professor smiled at us, "You two must be the new girls," She said, "Dont worry we have not gotten too far in the semester where it will be tough for you to catch up."

"Thank god," Bea said causing the class to chuckle,

"Would you two like to introduce yourselves?"

My heart skipped a beat as Bea stood up, holding her head up straight, "My name is Beatrix Daniels," Daniels, her mother's maiden name. "I have just recently moved from Alberta, and am really excited for this new opportunity." She sat down after giving a small introduction, signally me to stand up.

I hated speaking in large crowds, clearing my throat I began, "My name is Lettie Solace, and same with Bea, I have just come from Alberta, to begin a new life and study my way into the professional I have always dreamed about." My hands shook so I hid them behind my back, "Thank you for this opportunity." I quickly sat down before anyone could even clap for me.

"Well, it's great to see such passion in youth." Professor Juliet said smiling softly at us.

"You did good," Bea whispered to me, as I offered a small smile back.

Professor Juliet began with the lesson but I could not help but feel a sharp gaze looking at the back of my head. Swallowing harshly I turn to look over my shoulder to see a boy already staring back at me. He smiled at me, waving his fingers in a flirtatious way which caused me to grow uncomfortable. Letting my hair loose, I allowed my locks to create a safe curtain around my small face. I have never had good luck when it came to boys, and I did not need to create trouble for myself on the first day of college, and the first day of my new life that I had gotten on such a short string.

I couldn't risk it, and I wouldn't let Bea rush it either.

About an hour or so later,  Bea and I walked out of class about to head out to our small rental class when we heard our names being yelled across the parking lot. Bea and I stopped turning to see the boy who was staring at me in class accompanied by his friend group.

I tighten my grip on my purse, "Hey," He said breathing heavily, "I never got to introduce myself in class or after class since you girls left the room so fast."

"Okay?"  Bea said confused,

"My name is Cole, and these are my friends," He continued, pointing at each member, "That is Oscar, Ryan, and his girlfriend Hannah and her best friend Veronica."

"Hi," We said to them,

Cole made eye contact with me, "Um, we were thinking since this is just your first week in Kelowna, we thought we would invite you to our beach party we are having tonight."

No. "Just so-"

"That'll be great." Bea said smiling, "Here, give me your number."

I looked over at her shocked, "Bea," I whispered but she ignored me, as Cole created his contact in her phone.

A few seconds later, he returned it to her, "I texted myself so that way I have your number too, I'll send you the address." We are not going to a beach party!

"Thanks,  see you tonight." She replied pulling me behind her to the car

We both got in and that is when I started my rant. "Bea, we are not going to a stupid beach parry.  Jaxon asked us to lay low for a few days, and this is not laying low!"

"Come on we need to make some friends."

"Bea!"

"We will just go for alittle while," She pouted, "Just for a bit, and then if you still feel iffy, we will leave." This is a bad idea, I really fucking bad idea.

"You can go if you want Bea." I turn my body away from her.

"Lettie, you are not-"

"I barely managed to escape from that fucking hell!"I snapped at her, "If Jax says to lay low then that is what I'm fucking doing Bea." Bea's gaze dropped down to her hands as I began backing out of the parking lot. "You can do whatever the fuck you want."

"Sorry," She said barely above a whisper, "Fine, we won't go." I felt bad for snapping at her, but just the thought of accidentally being spotted scared me. "Sorry,"

"It's fine." I replied getting onto the main highway, "Just think next time Bea,"

I am all for making friends and having a life, but we needed to take it slowly, rebuild slowly without suspicion, and stay under the radar.

"Yeah," Bea cleared her throat, "Forget to do that at times." I see her frantically typing on her phone before she holds it infront of my face at a distance. "Here,  I texted him saying that we have some family gathering we have to go to instead and that I had forgotten about it."

"Good," I say firmly.

I know she would be sad for a bit, but I had a solution for that too.

I just wanted us to be safe, that's all.
