Epilogue 32
The months passed quickly. Lynnette especially enjoyed the trip they took sightseeing throughout Europe. The best part, going to Castielle's castle and meeting Darius's maker. She was both disappointed and happy that the infamous Vlad wasn't there.
The castle was beautiful and so were the surrounding lands. Cristiano made sure to be extra welcoming, especially to Lynnette. When he first caught sight of her they could all hear his sharply indrawn breath. "I thought she died centuries ago?" Lynnette hears him mutter before he takes her hand in his.
"Darius's sister, Lynnette, did die centuries ago. I am his many times great granddaughter that took her name when I turned." Lynnette tells him gently.
Cristiano, lifts her hand up and gives her hand a kiss. "Please tell me that he has calmed down?"
"Except when dealing with traitors he has. He'll be putting on a piano concert in October, we'd be thrilled to have you come." Lynnette tells the ancient vampire and makes sure that the smirk she wears is well hidden.
"Piano concert?" Cristiano asks with confusion.
Lynnette takes out her phone and shows Cristiano photos of Darius in his costumes performing at the hospital. "He'll be performing as Liberace for a benefit for the hospital that gives trauma one care for all ages. It's where he met me for the first time and saved my life."
"Then I will make sure to attend. Would you please send me the information once you have it?"
"I'd be delighted to do so." Lynnette says and takes Cristiano's card with his information.
"Would you mind if I invited my father to attend as well? He rather enjoys piano music."
Lynnette hesitates but with a smirk replies, "Yes, on the condition that he is willing to go shopping with me. Darius doesn't think Vlad has any fashion sense."
Cristiano leans in and whispers to her, "Just between us, he doesn't. I will convey the invitation to him and let you know as soon as possible."
The rest of their trip had been just as nice.
Now here it is almost to the end of October and Lynnette is coming through the mansion door loaded with bags of clothing, some for her, some for her pets, but the majority are for the man that follows her inside with several more bags.
Servants come up to take the bags to the correct rooms.
"Lovely, thank you for the delightful day, Lynnette. It's nice to know that my grandson managed to have such a wonderful daughter."
"Thank you, Lord Vladimir. It was a lovely afternoon. Are you going to remain this age for the concert on the morrow or are you going to change once more?" That's why Vlad has so many bags, he had tried on clothes for several different ages. Right now he appears to be about the same age as Lynnette.
Vlad smiles charmingly at Lynnette, "As much as I would love to stay this age for the concert, I would rather age a bit and not give him too much of a heart attack beforehand."
Lynnette gives a small chuckle. "Very well. Dinner should be ready shortly. If you would prefer we could have some sent to your room?"
Vlad waves her suggestion away. "I won't hear of it. Cristiano and I will both join you and the lords for dinner."
Then he excuses himself and goes off to his room.
Lynnette goes to her room and manages to wash up a bit before she is practically attacked by Greyson. She gives him back kiss for kiss, but manages to get him to stop by mentioning dinner where her father, grandfather and great grandfather would be waiting.
That was enough to cool Greyson down.
Castielle does his best to hold back his laughter but it comes out as snorts which makes Greyson snort.
Lynnette smiles at them both and says, "Come on, with those three together we could miss a lot of entertainment." The two males flank her as they leave the room.
Some time later there are gales of laughter heard pealing out of the dining room.
"He really did it. He fucking dressed as a unicorn and bathed in body glitter that sparkles every color of the rainbow." Lynnette shouldn't have been so shocked. Darius hadn't tried to hide what he'd been planning to wear for Halloween. He'd been absolutely thrilled at the design of the costume and would talk about little else for the last two months. The only other topic that was common was the music that he would be playing.
Darius spent hours locked away in his music room practicing and forced Lynnette to help him choose the music that would be played.
Darius had also sent tickets to the concert to Phyllis and Dean. They had been told that Laura had been killed when some business rivals had hired people to kill her thinking that would force him to lose his businesses.
Darius had also made sure that Phyllis and Dean were able to adopt a set of three year old twins that Lynnette had encountered on their travels. He just wishes he could do more for the people that loved Laura so much.
They had come to her funeral, as had a surprising number of her high school. She had never realized just how much of an impact she had on them.
Darius played the best he ever played before, having dedicated the concert to Laura in her memory.
Greyson and Castielle both nudged her on that one. Both Cristiano and Vlad gave her smirks. She just gave them all dirty looks back.
Sales for the concert had reached record proportions and so the hospital was able to get some badly needed equipment. Lynnette had been given gifts of money by her father, grandfather, great grandfather and to some extent her lovers, Greyson and Castielle. She donated a portion of that money to those in ICU on life support, to help the families pay until there was no hope of their loved ones ever waking up again.
After the concert Lynnette watches from a distance as Darius talks to Phyllis and Dean as they thank him for all he did for Laura and them.
Darius looks up and catches her eyes and can tell just how painful it is for her. He manages to say the right words before excusing himself.
"Are you alright, Lynnette?" Darius asks gently coming to her side.
Lynnette gives him a brilliant smile. "A year ago, I was human. I lived with a couple that loved me, but I knew that it was just for a few more months. I damn near died and then became part of a world I never believed in. I found a forever family, as forever as I want it to be since we seem to be damn near eternal.
"I am happier than I ever remember being before, Darius and I thank you for giving me this chance. Just one thing," Lynnette tells him as serious as she can be.
"What's that, Lynnette?"
"Make sure that you shower and get all that glitter off before you expect any hugs from me."
With those words the small group of vampires start laughing as they make their way to their vehicles.
