  Chase Nixon has lived his entire life in the shadow of his father. Mason Nixon, once a star, a famous actor, the man everyone wanted to be, and everybody loved. Deep within the surface though, Mason was a cold blooded killer.

Donatella and Chase had no inkling of the double life their family member was living. He was the perfect father, perfect husband, and all around perfect man, or at least it seemed that way. During his times away from them, he was killing women all over America.

The day their lives changed was when a team invaded their home, a young Chase being pulled away from the action before he could see his father being dragged away. Jason Gideon was the man who took him away from the mess, the one who saved him from becoming more damaged than he was bound to be.

After that, Gideon spent his time checking in with the child, making sure that he was okay. Chase however, was not. He started studying on the behavior that led to his father's actions, wondering if he was a part in what led him to insanity.

He slipped up though, and the drinking he did led him to the point of destruction. To help him out, and make him feel like he had purpose, Gideon let him help with a few cases with his knowledge of serial killers, what he had learned in his book, and things involving his own father.

What the man didn't know was, his father would be the one to help him with many cases.

So this plot is inspired by the show Prodigal Son which never should have gotten cancelled but ANYWAYS, it's the first in the series of criminal mind fanfics and the other characters will all be featured in this book.

I will be doing a bit of au during this, just to fit the plot a little better.

Chase has major issues so it is going to take him a long time to trust Spencer, this is 100% a slow burn book so if that isn't for you, move along lmao
