•The Territories of the Lakefront•

Centre Lake

The trademark of the Lakefront, this is the first body of water Riftstar (the first leader of the Lakefront) and his best friend Cloudwave (the first herbalist of the Lakefront) came to drink. It was once home to many other groups before the creation of Rift's Birch Tribe.

Rapid River
This is a river that connects a massive river to the east to the Centre Lake. Due to its velocity, many cats have lost their lives trying to pass it. It marks the border between the Birch Territory's main territory and Dusk Hollow.

Loyalty is a major aspect of the Roots given its military-like culture. Whether or not you show signs of loyalty towards the Roots can mean the difference between life or death. Not many are given the chance of exile. The Roots are considered one of the most determined Territories as it will not rest until a battle has been won.

The Roots live mainly in the oak and spruce filled areas of the forest, located around the northwest area. Their northern territories are extremely perilous as steep, massive cliffs, deep rivers, and dense foliage make travel difficult, and it makes it hard to defend and attack. Traversal does ease the closer to the Forbidden Territory (of which they hold a border with to the northeast), or with the border with Birch Territory and the Moor Cat Territory (of whom they share borders with to their south). The rest of their eastern border is marked by the centre lake. To their west and north, their borders are marked to divide them from the unclaimed territories.

Roots' Camp

The Root's Camp is located on top of a lonesome mountain with a bowl-like middle where the peak once was. In the middle of the camp rests a pond where cats of the Roots meet to gossip and eat. The entrance to the camp is located along the southeast side of the mountain . The dens surround the edges of the mountain bowl: the nursery is a den made of thistles and bracken located at the west side, the seniors' den is located within a fallen tree and broken tree stump located at the northwestern side, the Herbalist den is located within a small cavern at the southwestern side, the warriors' dens are made of thistles and bracken located at the southern side of the camp near the entrance, the apprentices' den is made of thistles and bracken located at the northeastern side between the warriors' dens and the Commander's den, and the Commander's den is within a small cavern located on a high ledge at the northern side. It was once a location where Bareskins excavated for coal, so it is riddled with mine tunnels. Some of those tunnels are used as escape routes in case the Roots are unable to defend their camp.

Lake's Edge

Marking the eastern edge of the Roots Territory, this region contains the Roots' border with the Centre Lake. It was a place of dispute between the forest Roots cats and the rebellious southern moorland cats. After the moorland territory seceded from the Roots, becoming the Moor Cats Territory, the Federation of the Birch Territory intervened via mediation. The Moor Cats Territory agreed to gaining parts of Birch Territory and the Roots'  forests in exchange for the Roots' keeping its lakeside territory intact.

Rippling Hills
There are a set of hills that divide the Roots from the Forbidden Territories. They mark the first challenge for any hoping to invade the Roots' territory.

Territory of the Moor Cats—the respectful and faithful
Commander: Jollystar
Deputy: Opalfur
Herbalist: Swiftmind

Allied with: the Roots
Enemies with: Rippling Lake Empire / Dusk Hollow
Neutral with: Birch Territory Federation

The Moor Cats Territory stands for respect and faith. They are the most religious Territory, and respect is expected and demanded from every cat. Disrespect is severely looked down upon, and cats have been known to be temporarily banished as punishment for being disrespectful.

The Moor Cats Territory lives under open plains, and shares a southern and northern border with the Birch Territory Federation and the Roots. They also hold a border with the unclaimed territories to their west. They are the only Territory without a border with the lake as both of their neighbouring Territories hold territory to the east of the Moor Cats Territory, cutting them off from it.

Empire of the Rippling Lake—the fierce and spiteful
First Commander: Skystar
Deputy Lieutenant: Swiftsight
Herbalist: Glowfeather

Allies with: Dusk Hollow
Enemies with: the Roots / Moor Cats Territory
Neutral with: Birch Territory Federation

The Empire of the Rippling Lake has grown wary of the other Territories, and thus it can be ruthless towards them in battle or conflict. Any acts of wrongdoing can set off acts of pettiness just to spite their opponents or even fellow citizens.

Rippling Lake holds a spacious territory. They control the more sparsely-spread pine and spruce territories, but some of the territory—especially the northern and southwestern territories—have thicker foliage. They share two southern borders with the Birch Territory Federation and Dusk Hollow. The Birch Territory Federation to the southeast and Dusk Hollow to the southwest. They share two western borders with the Centre Lake and the Forbidden Territory—the Forbidden Territory to the northwest and the Centre Lake to the direct west. They also hold a border with a large, deep river to their east.

Storming Hills
This set of hills, marking the Rippling Lake's border with the Forbidden Territory, was where Riftstar's advances for the Forbidden Territories (then called the Great Mountains Territory) were halted due to a storm raging in the area. Although it was not the Territory of the Swirling Stars doing, a superstitious Riftstar took it as the Swirling Stars (then called the Spirits of the River) intervening and preventing his advances. Had Riftstar continued his advance, the Forbidden Territories would have never been formed.

Territory of the Dusk Hollow—the lethal and silent
Commander: Puddlestar
Deputy: Brokenpelt
Herbalist: Sunstream

Allies with: Rippling Lake Empire
Enemies with: the Roots / Moor Cats Territory
Neutral with: Birch Territory Federation

Dusk Hollow utilises the thickness of its territory to its advantage. Dusk Hollow has a dark, treacherous territory, and so Dusk Hollow apprentices are trained to be quiet and stealthy while also being agile. Dusk Hollow warriors are known to take even owls by surprise. Their strength and agility can make them highly dangerous to fight.

Mainly living in the dense pine and spruce territories that rest between the Rippling Lake Empire and a river that seeps out of the Centre Lake, and many hills and four mountains, DuskClan is fairly difficult to traverse if one is not knowledgeable of the terrain. The difficulty to traverse this Territory's region more than makes up for their low number of warriors compared to the rest of the Territories —besides the Rippling Lake, who actively patrols their territory. Fun fact! They are the only Territory whose camp is entirely inside of a cave.

Dusk's Cave
This place is special to Dusk Hollow; not only is it their camp, but it was the birthplace and home of their founder, Dusk(star). Although it was once considered the toughest location to lay siege, the Rippling Lake successfully broke into the camp, becoming the first Territory to invade the camp since the Second Birch-Dusk War.

The Clawed Hollows
Within Dusk Hollow's camp marks the horrors left behind by the Rippling Lake's invasion. Some of the marks were left behind by terrified kits, queens, and elders who were murdered by the Rippling Lake warriors when Maplestar attempted to rebel against the Rippling Lake Empire's looming influence on Dusk Hollow.

Although they have endured a questionable history riddled with corruption and mass murder, the Birch Territory Federation of the present has shown itself to be a strong and determined Territory. They choose neutrality during conflicts, and they are always ready to assist in mediation efforts. When they are dragged into a conflict (but not a battle or war), they choose honour over their desires. Birch Territory Federation takes their status as a honourable Territory very seriously. Cats who show signs of dishonour towards their Territory and to peace are at risk of exile.

Birch Territory Federation lives in the expansive birch territories to the direct south of the Lakefront territories, and it shares four northern borders with every Territory and the centre lake . There is a northeastern river border that separates Dusk Hollow and Birch Territory Federation. They control all of the southern territories and half of former Dusk Hollow territory—where the two Territories went to war with each other many moons ago. They also contain a river border to the east that is connected to another river — which separates from the Centre Lake — that separates some of Birch Territory Federation's territory from their main territory.

The High Tree
Within the eastern side of the Birch Federation's massive territory rests the tallest tree of the Lakefront. It was once home to the oldest civilisation of cats, known as the Hightree Colony. After moons of close, cordial relations between Birch Tribe (Federation of the Birch Territory) and the Hightree Colony, the civilisation joined the newly sprouted Birch Territory Federation.

Forbidden Territory
A region that no Territory is allowed to lay claim on. It is the only agreement that all of the Territories follow, and it is a sacred place believed to be where the Swirling Stars walk.

It is the location of the Star's Cavern where leaders get or retire their nine lives, or where medicine cats go to talk to the Territory of the Swirling Stars.

Gathering Island
Marking a part of the southern zone of the Forbidden Territories is an island only accessible by a small strip of land that disappears during periods of high-tide. It is where the Territories meet to report and discuss news or incidents. A truce wasn't mandatory for many moons, but it was eventually implemented after an incident when Maplestar (then-leader of Dusk Hollow) nearly sparked a battle against the Roots and the Moor Cats. The Swirling Stars expressed concern over the incident, and demanded that a truce be made mandatory to prevent any future violence on the sacred island.

Starpeak Mountains
These mountains mark the northern portion of the Forbidden Territories. It is home to the sacred Star's Tunnel, which leads to the Star's Cavern (home to the Lakefront's connection to the Swirling Stars, the Star's Pool).

Star's Cavern
A cave where a large pool of water is located. Leaders and herbalists come here to speak to the Swirling Stars and receive warnings, prophecies, omens, and nine lives. Leaders also come here to relieve themselves of their nine lives when they resign from leadership. It is often referred to as the home of the Swirling Stars, and it is considered a part of the Territory of the Swirling Stars.
