Chapter 4

"You stupid, dirty lier!" Tempest called as she stormed towards Lord Cassius.

" What did I do?! " Cassius asked as she came to a stop in front of him.

"Many things. You lied to me about how you found me. You lied to me about my family. You lied to me about my whole freaking existence. You lied to everyone else about my existence. Do I need to continue?" When Cassius didn't say anything, she frowned and crossed her arms over her chest, "You care too much about yourself. Your reputation is all that matters to you."

" That's not true-"

"Really? Then why did you join the Black Swan? You wanted to be known as one of the good guys. Why did you not tell anyone about me? You didn't want to be known as what? A cheater? Desperate? All that matters to you is how people think of you."

"Keefe is behind you-"

"Is he now? Well, if he hasn't picked up on this by now he sure as heck needs to know it. You're a selfish lier! Everything you say somehow has a personal gain. You don't care about what happens to others, as long as your reputation is clean. But guess what! It's not! You just try to make it seem that way! Anyone who's spent 3 minutes with you knows that!

"The whole, what, 15 years that I lived with you, everything you told me were lies. I don't care about how many times you tell me you were treating me like everyone else, I could tell it was fake. And who can blame me? You literally hid me for over half of my life!"

"Calm down, Are-"

"Tempest. And why should I calm down when I have every right to be upset?! You told me I had no family. You told me I was alone. You told me that the reason behind that was because i was special. And I know those are all lies!" She pointed behind her towards the house, "The whole time I lived in that stupid house of yours, you said I was meant for greatness. You said that would help the elves. And yet, who was the one that got the most important elf in the Lost Cities killed?

" But Keefe. Keefe actually had the potential to be someone special. And you insult him for every small thing he does. No matter how good it may be, you always see it as bad. He deserves respect and love, and you give him neither! Between the two of us, only one of us has the chance to be someone 'special', and I know for a fact that that someone isn't me. I'm already a murderer. He has the chance to do something good with his life.

"You know, when I lived in that small, hidden room in your house, I often had one thought on my mind; ' I wonder if this is how the other kids my age live.' And I would answer myself. Each time it was the same, 'Well, Cassius would never tell me. I hope I don't grow up to be like that. ' I was eight when I came up with that conclusion, Cassius. Eight! And looking back on it, I still think I was right!"

" Ar- Tempest, calm down! "

"I already told you, I have no reason to 'calm down'! You lied to me about my life, and now you lie to Keefe! I don't care about your reputation, and you shouldn't either! Look at the Dizznees! They we're called a bad match and had triplets, but they're considered heroes! How about Jolie? Sure, she was engaged to a Neverseen member, but she was fine with being a bad match as long as she got to be with someone she loved! Now she's known as one of the Black Swan's greatest members! And don't get me started on Sophie! I don't care what you think, but I know it's something along the lines of ' a good reputation means I'm a good person', and you're far from the truth! Many of the Lost Cities greatest heroes, including your son, came from horrible backgrounds, and those who didn't usually found themselves losing nearly everything or just wanting more power.

" Now, I don't know what your childhood was like. I don't know if your father treated you like you treat me and Keefe. But I do know one thing, and that's that if you want to be a hero, you start by treating people kindly. And, if you want anyone to treat you with any form of respect, you'd better get started. Cause right now, your as bad as Gisela. "

Cassius frowned, "I am not like her."

"You sure about that? I mean, I would say 'ask Keefe', but I'm pretty sure he likes her more than you."

" What about you? "

Tempest have him a grim smile, "I think I like my mom more than I like you, Cassius. And, considering all she's done these last few weeks, that's saying something."

" So you've figured out who it is? "

"I have a guess. Though, it is kind of hard to figure out when all you say about her is that she's 'lovely'."

"I was hoping you'd figure that part out by now. "

"Well, I don't need to know what that means to know she wasn't an elf."

Cassius looked thoroughly surprised, proving Tempest's theory, "How'd you learn that?"

"Simple. While you were hiding away here like a coward, I had a dream and Hazel told me it was similar to one's demigods had. Not too hard to figure everything out from there."

"You know I told you to ignore whatever dreams you have."

" Uh, I literally had to watch as the hand of what I believe was death go through your son's heart. Because I'm going to ignore that. "

Cassius sighed, and muttered something that sounded a lot like, "This is why I avoided demigods" before focusing back on Tempest. "Listen. You don't know what you're getting into. Trust me."

Tempest laughed in disbelief. "T-trust you? Buddy, that ship has sailed! I don't trust anything you tell me anymore!" She pulled out her pathfinder to the Forbidden Cities, "As I said, you're a selfish liar. So go ahead, believe you're a hero. But you're not. If you want people to see you as a hero, shape up and start acting like one."

"I'm guessing you picked all of this up from the demigods?" Cassius asked.

" Well, what's wrong with the truth? " Tempest replied. As she stepped into the beam of light, she suddenly realized Cassius never told her how he knew about demigods in the first place.

Well, that was... intense. I hope you enjoyed the chapter! I have more time after school these upcoming days, so I'll try to update, but if I don't, look for new chapters on weekends. Thanks, and see ya later!
