Zeus Needs to Chill Out
"Why won't these stupid corn plants grow!?"
Demeter was yelling. "Demeter, please, calm down. You still need to relearn-" Hestia was only trying to help her, but she was infamously stubborn.
"I don't care! I am the corn master! The plants must grow!" The two goddesses were in the gardens on Olympus. Demeter had planted some corn plants, and was trying to magically make them grow. However, the plants stubbornly remained seeds in the ground.
"I don't think yelling at them will help-"
Hestia was interrupted as a lightning bolt struck a tower. She winced. "Zeus," she sighed. "You know, Demeter, maybe we should take a break from gardening and go get a snack, or something."
And not kill all the plants, Hestia added to herself. Demeter's yelling was killing all the plants that had grown in the garden. The wheat had shriveled up, and the barley was brown. The corn plants hadn't even poked out of the ground, and at this rate it would be quite a while before they even begin growing.
Demeter stood and took a deep breath. "Alright, fine. Let's go get something to eat. I'm kind of hungry, anyway."
Hestia stood and followed my sister through the twisting hallways to the kitchen. It was very modern, as the Olympians were years and years ahead of the mortals. A few years ago, several of the gods had finally managed to convince Zeus to upgrade. Demeter and Hestia found Hera in the kitchen, poking through the refrigerator.
"Hi. Have you seen what Zeus is up to?" Hera said, glancing over at her sisters as they entered. Hestia nodded.
"He's going to destroy this place at the rate he's going," she groaned.
"Oh, well, I'm sure it'll be fine. Do we have any cereal?" Demeter asked.
Hera rolled her eyes. "We always have cereal! You stock the kitchen!" Hera closed the fridge and crossed the room to open a sleek black cabinet, pulling out a box of cereal. "Here." She handed the box to Demeter.
Hermes entered the kitchen as well, paying no mind to the three goddesses. He opened a cabinet and pulled out a granola bar. He looked up at the three of them as he opened the wrapper.
"What are you looking at?" He asked, revealing the partially chewed granola bar in his mouth.
"Oh, gross! Don't talk with your mouth full, Hermes." Hera scolded.
"You're not my mom," Hermes retorted. He wisely chose to leave the room at that moment. Hera looked ready to explode.
Another lightning bolt hit the tower.
"Zeus!" Hera yelled. She stormed out of the room.
Demeter and Hestia exchanged a look before following their younger sister.
A/N: Rewritten 3/30/20. My apologies that it's so short. Most of the beginning chapters are like this. I will try to make the later ones longer.
