Prologue

          "Hello, Again"

Hissed the voice of the deep reddend dragon, her scales shimmering in shade of blood. Her tough flicked in and out of her mouth as her pupils narrowed to slits. The look in her eyes was dripped in malice and rotten glee. Kestral tried to take a step back, her egg clutched tightly in her talons. I won't let Scarlet take it. I CANT. Her frantic mind cried, trying to think.

"No more running, Kestral. You've gone far enough." The queen's voice slithered as she approached closer to her. She look at the dragon in front of her. She couldn't let Scarlet take her egg... it was about to hatch! It needed to hatch.  She wouldn't let the queen take her egg, her precious object... the dragonet for the prophecy... it was brightest night afterall, and her egg was very large and fit the description to a tee.

But.... She didn't have have anywhere else to run.

Scarlet growled and snapped her talons, summoning her guards to her sides. Kestral's mind freaked as they approached her coming closer to her sides.... And ripping her egg straight from her talons.

"NOOOOO!" Kestral cried as her the shimmering  orange orb was yanked from her talons, into those of a yellowish SkyWing and then to to Scarlet. She looked down at the egg in her talons, an evil grin in her snout.

"Oh what a lovely little egg for the prophecy" Said Scarlet as Kestral's heart thudded wildly. "What a shame is someone was to drop— oh!" She then, strategically, dropped the egg on the cold hard stone. It fell,

                                           Down!

                                                          Down!

                                                                         Down!

The orange egg fell to the stone and splintered into a million pieces, and you could see the sad little dragonet who had been inside, a pale colored male in shades of the skies at sundown. He was beautiful and little, an amazing creature. He lay dead on the stone, his neck broken from his fall from the egg...

"NO!!" Kestral screamed as she looked down at her dead dragonet. Tears escaped her eyes. Not only had her dragonet died... the prophecy had too. They needed a SkyWing... Kestral growled and looked up at Scarlet.

"You MONSTER!" She yelled at the queen as the dark red dragon flew up into the air.

"Now that that's taken care of, I'll be taking you away with me, come on now Kestral." Scarlet said, snapping at her guards to take the SkyWing away. The guards clasped their talons around Kestral's forearms and began to take her away. She didn't know how to fight back even if she wanted to, the prophecy was over, wasn't it?

But that wasn't the end for the SkyWing egg.

Inside the eggshell, there was another little dragonet. Her blue eyes flickered open, the lightest smidge of life still pumping in her chest. She squeaked, yearning for the love and attention of what she needed from her mother.

Kestral's ears perked up as the dragonet still inside gave light sound. There's... another one?! Her mind shouted. A.... A twin egg..? She kept her eyes focused on the egg shells. And sure enough... a little talon poked out from beneath. Something changed in Kestral in that moment, maybe it was the instinct of a mother, maybe just the determination to set the prophecy right to save  Pyrrhia. But what ever it was, it sent power and unbelievable strength to Kestral wings and talons as she broke free of the arms of the guards, launching herself away from them and right over to her egg.

She shot though the winds and towards the egg shells. Hastily she brushed the the shell off the top of the being underneath. Sure enough, there was a little dragonet. She had deep, bright blues eyes shining off orange and red scales. The lines between the scales on her underbelly and neck and the veins in her wings glew with radiance. She was one of the most beautiful things that Kestral had ever seen. But there was no time for gawking now that the mother had a prophecy to fulfill.

Kestral, working quicker than she ever had before, picked up the dragonet by eggshell beneath it. She wasn't directly touching her child, but instead carried her by the egg she was hatched from she thought it might be slightly quicker of a process. She shot into the sky, dragon in talon. She wooshed away from the cliff where Scarlet and her guards were, building in speed.

"GET HER!" Scarlet screamed, beaming after Kestral in an instant. But then, something rather strange happened. As Kestral boosted though the air, SkyWing guards on her tail, her talons quickly starting building in heat. She looked down at the dragonet cradled in the eggshell as she confused mind whirled in circles. She didn't have much time before the heat grew to a burning, searing feeling on her talons in an instant. Kestral screamed, nearly dropping the dragonet in her  eggshell container. She didn't have time to find out was happening, and at first she thought one of the dragons behind had shot flames at her. But she looked back realizing they were still much to far away to do so, luckily. She whipped her head back around to look at the object in her throbbing talons. Nothing was was inside the egg! Just a dragonet!

She shouted again as the heat started to burn though her scales, touching her skin beneath and sending horrible shocks though her whole body. Everything inside her told her to drop the dragonet, she couldn't hold the thing any longer. But the motherly instinct wouldn't  let her. She was so close to the cave now. Indeed she could even see the little entrance hole in the distance. Just around these cliffs! Her mind screamed.

As much as she could with the feeling of her claws burning off, Kestral zipped around the cliffs, the exact combination of moves to find the cave entrance she had been though so many times.

But apparently the dragon wasn't fast enough.

Scarlet saw the little zips of red scales from around the cliffs. powered by utter rage and adrenaline, The queen of the SkyWing's roared and threw herself down on the dragon infront of her.

"ARRRGGHHHHA!" Kestral cried as she was brought to the stone with a thrust. The dragonet in her charred black claws rolled away,  just to edge of her tail. Scarlet landed atop her and looked in the eyes.

"You know, Kestral" said the enraged queen. "I wanted to kill you in the Arena, in a thrilling trial where everyone would get to see you die. But you have made me much to angry, so I'm going to snap your neck right here and now!" She howled in a loud voice dripping venom. Kestral looked at the eggshell by her tail... when her panicked dying mind realize something... THE SKY HOLE! IT WAS RIGHT THERE! Just at the reach of the egg. Scarlet obviously didn't see it and probably didn't even see that Kestral had ran off with the egg either. With the last of her power, Kestral launched the dragonet in her eggshell with her tail towards the hole in the rocks.  The very last thing Kestral saw was the dragonet tumbling down with a squeak! As she rolled down into the cave off the all wall. Thank goodness that wall is at an inclined. Was the last thing Kestral though as the Queen above her killed her on the stones.

Scarlet looked down at the dragon at her talons, who was now covered in blood. The queen smiled. She didn't realize what Kestral had done or how she had saved the prophecy. Then she snapped, commanding her guards to remove Kestral's lifeless corpse and bring it back to her palace. She was happy with herself, killing the dragon she had hated for many years now.
