Chapter Five

It was then when Peril ran. Like, sure, she'd obviously ran before. But she never, not once her life, had run with as much power as she did right now.  She didn't even have time to ask what the heck was going on in the first place. All he SkyWing did in that moment, was run. She ran through the passageways. Through the library. Past the river cave. Whatever she did... she just moved her legs, skidding her talons across the rock and stone.

"Come on, Peril!!" Clay was shouting. She was "coming on", so she didn't really know his reasoning behind the screaming. However, she wasn't really in the moment for worrying around that right now. Anyhow, there did come a moment when eventually they did stop running. In the other dragonet's sleeping cave. Peril was never really in here, for the guardians didn't want her sleeping with the others, for safety reasons. She skidded to a stop, looking at a very bizarre picture.

"Clay! Peril!!" Shouted Tsunami, who currently was chained to a stalactite. She jumped towards them, but iron bindings wrapping her body held her still. "You're alive!!" She looked at the two of them, desperately struggling with the chains. The SeaWing growled, annoyed by this situation.

"T-Tsunami!?" Peril huffed, veering to a stop. The SeaWing lept towards Peril, and again was stopped by the chains. "W-WHat's going on!?" Peril cried. She had so many questions, she didn't even know where to begin. Clay stepped in front of her, standing beside the enraged Tsunami. Meanwhile, Starflight and Sunny sat together, their faces painted in horror.

"Peril... where do I start..." Clay began, sitting down. He began to speak, but just as he did so, the SkyWing interrupted him.

"No." Said Peril. "I'll ask the questions. WHAT is going on!? Why is Hvitur trying to kill me!?"She clamored. The other dragonet's were quiet for a strange moment.

"Remember Morrowseer?" Starflight butted in. Peril nodded. She definitely remembered him. "Well, while you were asleep, Tsunami and Clay snuck through the river... they overheard him talking with the guardians......... he wants you dead Peril" Starflight finished with a huff. Peril stepped back. He just wanted to kill her!? Just like that!? She was a dragonet of destiny! Sure, she wasn't anyone's ideal SkyWing. But the guardian's single job was to keep her alive... they wanted to kill her now!?

"And, apparently, it didn't work" Said Clay. "Guess Hvitur's frostbreath wasn't as strong as he thought" He got up, sitting down next to Peril, rubbing his head on her scales for comfort. "Thank the moons!" He smiled at Peril. A worried, soulful smile.

"AND THEN they CHAINED me!!" Tsunami piped up, fighting the chains once more. "Me and Clay wanted to get you out of your cave, TO SAVE YOU, but they CAUGHT me!" Just by the inferno ranging in her eyes, you could see her passion. Clear as day, written though every scale on her face.

"And now, the object, it's pretty obvious." Said Starflight. "Were getting out of here. TONIGHT."

Peril didn't have words. Obviously, she couldn't stay here with her Hvitur and Dune trying to kill her. But... where could she go!? She didn't have anywhere to run!

Yeah, that fact became apparent soon enough.

"STAY STILL!!" Hollered an icy voice down the corridor. And sure as the moons, Hvitur sprinted around the stone corridor. peril jumped backwards at the sight of the IceWing who had always hated her. Her eyes full of terror, she fled backwards. Then, once more, she took off running. Peril just plain ran. "NO! STOP!!" Hvitur's voice was screaming behind her.

Eventually, Peril came out to a very familiar room in the cave system. The entrance boulder! This passage was straight up to the back of the wall, she hadn't anywhere left to go. Oh no no NO NO NO NO!!! Peril's frantic thoughts exclaimed as she clawed at the wall of boulder, desperately yearning for anyway to escape. Her desperate talons scratched the stone, the fire beneath them just barley melting the rock-face.  But WAIT... And THAT was when something new happened. As she rubbed the rocks, it seemed to be actually doing something...? Like her heat was actually doing something to it? She'd never been able to melt rocks like this before?! Nonetheless, her paninked claws just dug in deeper to the  hidden entrance walkway. If it was working, it didn't really matter the context.

It wasn't long before Peril threw herself against the wall of the cave. That's just all she did, thrusting her scales to the stone, pressing with all the flames inside her body. Which, indeed, was a lot. And quicker than anyone could have expected, that wall was really melting. And something.... happened.

Just beyond the stone wall, the rocken cave, a light split through the air. It grew gradually larger, tearing through the eternal darkness that had consumed the dragonesses entire life. This was a light the poor SkyWing had never seen bore; something strange, something that seen to call her forth, though the wall.

Peril dug her talons into the light, emitting force onto the illuminating pulsing phantom that seemed to take her over. Taking over her body. Her scales- wings-  soon enough tail. It seemed to get closer while the climbing pressure that encapsulated her bones began to cease away. The blackness of the cave slipped away..... the light forth poured in from all directions and pierced her sparkling blue eyes.
