Bella froze in fear. Edward swiftly came beside her and brought Bella and Renesmee close."Is it the Volturi coming?" Bella mumbled, looking up at Edward. Edward shook his head softly.

"Just some nomads passing through."

"Thirty seconds," Alice said through her teeth.

Edward leaned forward and inhaled Bella's scent. Her scent was masked by Edward's coat. He could hardly smell her.

"I can smell her from across the field," Rosalie snapped.

"Rose," Esme warned.

Edward adjusted Bella's jacket and then zipped up Renesmee's jacket. Jacob jogged up and grabbed Renesmee's hand. Renesmee whimpered and Edward placed a kiss on her forehead. Edward then grabbed Bella's warm hand and stood in a protective stance in front of her.

"3..2..1," Alice whispered.

Bella stood on her tippy toes and looked over Edward's shoulder. Two people walked out from the woods. The first was a woman who had hair the color of fire. Her eyes were crimson red and Bella could see some splotches of red on her white fur coat. Beside the woman, was a man with blonde hair, that was tied back in a pony tail. He wore a leather jacket and he also had crimson red eyes. The man's eyes landed on Bella's, making her shrink back down behind Edward.

"Welcome," Carlisle said, "I am Carlisle and this is my family."

The woman's eyes scanned the crowd and she smiled. "I am Victoria, and this is my mate James." James inhaled and looked over at Edward. Edward silently hissed.

"I believe this is yours," James said in a gruff voice. He lifted a baseball and chucked it at Carlisle. Carlisle caught it and smiled.

"Thank you."

"It seems we have interrupted your game. We apologize," Victoria said, a small smile forming on her face.

"That is quite alright. A few of us were just about to leave anyways," Esme stated.

"May we join?" James questioned.

"We could us a few more players," Jasper replied. Victoria laughed.

A soft breeze played across Bella's neck, making strands of hair fly in her face. Edward cursed under his breath. James inhaled, as if he was a drug addict having his fill of drugs. He tilted his head and licked his lips, staring at Edward.

"I'd recognize that smell anywhere," James said. Bella's heart skipped a beat. Emmett growled and so did the rest of the Cullens. Bella took a step in front of Edward, ignoring Edward's constant pleas. "Come forward, Little swan," James taunted.

Bella walked in front of Edward and then in front of Alice. James inhaled again and laughed. "I remember you," He sneered. Edward pushed Bella aside and got in an attacking position.

"How do you know her?" Edward growled.

Bella closed her eyes, remembering the night of the accident. Her eyes fluttered open and she instantly realized where she recognized that voice.

"Miss Swan and I are great friends," James explained. "I'm the one who found her when her truck slipped on ice and into the ditch. I bit her and dropped her. I then left. I assume another nomad came and found her." James inhaled again and took a step forwards. "But now, she's just as fragile." James smirked.

"Why on earth are you keeping a human with you?" Victoria said, while she pushed some of her red hair away.

"She's my mate," Edward hissed.

"Mates with a human? How abnormal," Victoria mused. "How do you manage to love her and not kill her?"

James took another step forward and growled. The Cullens jumped down into a crouching position and they all growled, baring their teeth. James was about to take another step forward when Victoria grabbed her mate's arm. "It's not worth it, James."

James hissed once more before taking a step backwards. "It seems we have overstayed our welcome." James wrapped his arm around Victoria's waist and looked at Bella with a small smirk on his face. In an instant, the two nomads were gone.

Everyone relaxed and talked to each other, but Edward stayed by Bella. His lips were in a tight line and he kept averting Bella's gaze. "You're keeping something from me," She said, crossing her arms over her chest.

Edward sighed and looked at Alice. Alice nodded. "James has basically claimed you as his next meal. He is going to stop at nothing. He wants to kill you."

"Does everyone else know?"

"It was kind of hard not to notice, Bella." Edward snapped. Bella frowned at Edward. Edward instantly realized what he did and he wrapped his arms around Bella and kissed her forehead. "I'm sorry, Love. I didn't mean to snap." Bella nodded.

"Where's Renesmee?"

"She and Jacob took the Jeep back to the house." Bella sighed with relief, knowing that her daughter was okay. "That reminds me..."

Bella raised her eyebrows as Edward tucked his hand into his pocket, pulling something out. Edward took her hand in his hands and placed the cold item in her hands. Bella opened her hands and grinned. It was her crescent moon necklace.

"How did you find this?" Edward shrugged.

"I have my ways." Bella laughed. Edward looked up at the sky. "I should get you home. You have a big day tomorrow." Bella smiled at Edward, remembering she had school tomorrow. For once, she was excited to go to school. But she knew that emotion would disappear as soon as she walked through the front doors.

Edward picked Bella, sliding her on his back. She wrapped her arms around his neck, just as he started running. She buried her face into his back, as her hair whipped behind her.

"You can open your eyes now," Edward stated with a chuckle. Bella's eyes flew open and she recognized that they were in Edward's room.

"I'll go get changed." Edward nodded as Bella left the room. She walked into Rosalie's closet and scanned her side of the closet for pajamas. She decided on a dark blue henley and blue shorts to match. Bella discarded the baseball clothes and and slipped on the pajamas. Bella brushed her hair and then put in into a messy braid.

Bella walked to the bathroom and quickly brushed her teeth. She turned off the tap and then walked back to Edward's room. He was lying on the bed with a crooked smile on his face. Bella crawled over top of him and flopped down beside him. Edward wrapped his arm around Bella.

"How are you going to deal with James?" Bella wondered.

"We'll have to kill him," Edward stated. "He won't stop until he's dead or you are."

"How are you going to track him down?" Edward chuckled.

"Don't worry about the details. I will handle it."

"Then I guess you are going to have to distract me because that's all I can think about."

"That shouldn't be too hard..." Bella raised her eyebrows just as Edward lifted her head with his finger. Bella slowly angled herself upright on the bed as Edward pressed his lips against Bella's soft lips. Bella wrapped her hands around his neck, running her fingers through his bronze hair. Edward pulled Bella closer by her hips and held them with his strong hands. Bella exhaled against Edward's lips as the kiss grew intenser.

Bella's fingers traveled to the hem of Edward's blue top. She was about to lift it over his head but Edward's fingers stopped her. Edward pulled himself off of her and looked at Bella with a crooked smile. She was still trying to catch her breath.

Bella eventually curled up beside Edward and laid her head on his chest. She traced his muscles through his shirt while Edward stroked her hair. "Tell me something I don't know about you," she whispered.

"I was dying of the spanish influenza when Carlisle changed me. I was changed in 1918." Edward said. "Now tell me something I don't know about you."

"Hmm... That's going to be hard. You already know almost everything about me."

"That's not entirely true."

"It's not?"

"Favourite color?"

Bella bit on her lip and played with Edward's fingers. "Red."

"Favourite book?"

"Either Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre."

"Favourite anima-" Bella interrupted him by raising a finger to his lips. "I think you've asked enough questions for one day."

Edward rolled his eyes and chuckled as Bella laid her head back on the pillow and closed her eyes."Goodnight. my Bella," Edward whispered as he kissed Bella's forehead. Bella rolled slightly over into his arms and he wrapped his arms around her while Bella concentrated on sleeping. Edward could tell she was struggling, so he quietly hummed Bella's lullaby. Bella's body relaxed, and soon she drifted off to sleep.

Bella woke up to someone shaking her violently. "Isabella Marie Swan you better wake up or so help me I will feed you to the wolves." It was Alice. Bella groaned and tucked her head under her pillow. She heard no movement, so she removed the pillow from her head and wiped the sleep from her eyes. Next thing she knew, cold water was running down her face and back. Bella looked behind her to see Alice holding an empty bucket.

"What the hell Alice?" Bella screamed.

"You have to get ready for school!" Alice said with a grin, ignoring the fact that Bella was very pissed. Bella glanced at her arm clock, and then she turned her head to keep glaring at Alice.

"It's 5:30 in the fucking morning Alice. I don't have to wake up until 6:55. I have another hour a sleep."

Alice grinned. "Not today." Alice picked Bella up and chucked her over her shoulder. Bella pounded Alice's back with her hands and kicked her feet as Alice carried her to the bathroom. Alice placed Bella down and shoved her inside the bathroom.

"Alice, please I'm begging you. Don't do this." Bella pleaded.

Alice laughed. "It's way too late to beg for forgiveness." Alice locked the door and Bella groaned.

"I hate you, you evil pixie makeup thing."

"I love you too, Bella."

Alice picked Bella up and placed her on the infamous make up chair. Alice turned on the curling iron on and began dusting Bella's face lightly with some powder. Alice then applied concealer under Bella's eyes and then she used the mascara brush lightly on Bella's eyelashes, hoping to make Bella's plain brown eyes pop out. Alice picked up the hot iron and curled Bella's hair, making messy curls. As Alice hair sprayed Bella's hair, Bella did her best not to choke on the hairspray.

"Time for the outfit!" Alice ran out of the room and came back with two shopping bags. She placed them in front of Bella. Bella pulled out light blue capris, a black t-shirt and a red and black flannel shirt, which was paired with black sneakers. Bella pushed Alice out of the room and then discarded her pajamas. She threw on the outfit and then put on the necklace that Edward had gotten her. Bella rolled up the laid sleeves up to her elbows. Bella pushed her bangs away from her face and then pushed open the door to bump into a muscular body.

"For someone so small and human, you sure can make a dent." Emmett remarked with a husky laugh. Bella rolled her eyes.

"I'm surprised you're so strong. You're like a giant teddy bear."

"A giant teddy bear that can lift almost 3000 pounds."

"Oh really?" Emmett rolled his eyes.

"Alice sent me hear because she wanted me to give you tips for school."

"Emmett, it's not like I haven't been to school before."

"Alice seems to think you were raised on a farm and homeschooled by hippies. Anyways, here is Emmett's tip of the day: Try not to kill anyone because I am not in the mood to clean up bodies."

Bella laughed as Emmett walked away, humming the theme song to Star Wars. Bella walked down the stairs to see Renesmee waiting for her.

"Mom!" She squealed. Bella gave Renesmee a big hug and kissed her forehead. "You look really pretty!"

Bella was about to interject when Edward came out from the kitchen holding a brown backpack. He looked at Bella with awe. "I think she looks absolutely beautiful." Renesmee grinned and kissed her parents on the cheek. She then ran to the kitchen to talk with her Aunt Rosalie.

"This is for you." Edward said, holding the brown backpack out for her. Bella took the beige backpack and looked at Edward's attire. He was wearing jeans and he head a blue button up shirt and white t-shirt.

"Did Alice tell you how she woke me up this morning?"

Edward shook his head. "Whatever she did to you, I apologize on her behalf." Edward's crooked smile expanded and Bella giggled.

"You ready?" Alice said, coming out of the kitchen with Jasper.

"What about Rosalie and Emmett?" Bella asked.

"They graduated last year. It would be quite suspicious if they were to come back to school. Carlisle also wanted them to stay back so Rose could watch Renesmee and Emmett wants to help Carlisle track down James." Bella nodded as Edward escorted her out the door. Alice and Jasper made their way to the garage whilst Edward led Bella to his Volvo. He opened the passenger door for Bella and she got in and buckled up, just as Edward shifted the gear into drive. Edward pulled out of the driveway and on to the driveway, with Jasper driving right behind them.

Edward pulled up to Forks High School and parked his silver volvo.

"You nervous?" He asked.

"It's just school. there's nothing to be nervous about." Bella inhaled and exhaled, staring out the window. Students were crowded around their cars, talking and laughing. "Now or never," Bella mumbled.

She pushed open the volvo door and got out of the car, slinging her backpack over her shoulder. everyone looked at her, and some even whispered about her. She could tell because Edward was clenching his fists beside Bella. Bella inhaled once more and walked towards the front of the school, Edward walking in front of her. He opened the front doors for her and she walked through them. She walked into the office to see a pudgy woman pressing keys on her computer.

"Excuse me?" Bella said.

The woman looked up and adjusted her glasses. "How can I help you?" She said with a scowl.

"I'm here to pick up my timetable? My name is Isabella Swan." The woman scanned Bella and then dug into one of her desk draws and handed Bella a piece of paper, along with six slips.

"Give these slips to your teachers." Bella nodded and walked out of the office, reading her timetable. Lucky for her, most of the classes were easy and Bella understood and quite liked. Bella looked up at Edward and smiled.

"We have four classes together," Edward pointed out. "And the other two have Alice and Jasper." Bella nodded.

Shrieeeeek

The sound of the bell echoed in Bella's ears. "I'll see you soon, Love." Edward said, placing a kiss on her forehead. Bella nodded and held up her timetable, trying to figure out where to go.

"Are you new here?"

Bella turned around to see a boy who looked about the same age as her. He had blond hair that covered some of his eyes.

"Yes. Do you mind helping me quickly?"

"Of course not." The boy scanned her timetable and mumbled to himself. "Oh! You have Mr. Rodriguez. I have him too. How about I lead you there?"

"That would be great, thank you." Bella said with a smile. "What's your name?"

"Mike. And I assume you are Isabella?"

"Just Bella."

"Well then, Just Bella, Welcome to our school." Mike flashed a grin that made Bella slightly uncomfortable. A girl who was wearing a skirt and a blouse walked up to Mike with a frown on her face.

"Mike," She hissed, "what are you doing?"

"Calm down, Jessica. I'm helping the new student." Jessica turned her head and then her gaze softened.

"You must be Isabella."

"She prefers Bella," Mike interjected. Jessica glared at him and then sent a smile towards Bella.

"Let's get you to class." Mike said. Bella nodded and followed him into her first class, which was calculus. She handed the slip to her teacher and he made her introduce herself in front of the class. Bella sat at the back by herself and quietly did her work, trying to avoid the glances from her fellow classmates. Unfortunately, She couldn't block out what they were saying about her.

"I hear she is dating that Cullen guy."

"Which one?"

"The one that looks constipated all the time."

"Have you met the new girl? I hear she is an orphan and the Cullens adopted her."

"Remember that Nora girl? I hear she got STD's from Cullen and she left him just like that."

"I would tap that new girl in a heartbeat."

Bella clenched the side of her desk and continued to ignore everyone's comments. The bell rang and Bella was the first one to leave the classroom. She left so fast that she bumped into Edward. He was chuckling as he picked up some of Bella's notes that Bella had dropped. He gaze averted to a bunch of jocks, cat calling at Bella. Edward hissed silently, but Bella heard it. She grabbed Edward's hand and shook her head.

"I want to kill them all," He growled. "You wouldn't be able to believe what they are thinking."

"I think I have a good few guesses." Edward wrapped his arm around Bella's waist and led her to her next class.

During Lunch, Bella sat down beside Edward. Alice and Jasper eventually joined them, carrying a tray of food for Bella. Bella took a bite of her burger and Edward chuckled.

"What?" Bella said with her mouthful.

Edward used his thumb to remove some mustard from the side of Bella's lip. Bella shrugged and kept eating. Edward stirred at his soup and Alice and Jasper chatted to each other.

"So," Bella said. "What's the worst rumour you've heard today?"

"That's tough. I'd have to say the one where I brought Nora to an island and murdered her. What about you?"

"Probably the one where I apparently have Herpes." Edward and Bella laughed. Bella was happy that she could laugh at stuff like this with Edward.

Bella turned her head to see Mike wave at her. Bella waved back and then Jessica hit him on the back of his head. Bella laughed and turned her head away.

The bell rang and Bella threw her trash into the trash can. Edward kissed Bella on the cheek and then he walked the opposite direction. Bella walked up the stairs to her English class.

Bella went through the same thing that she had gone through with her other classes. Hand teacher the slip. Introduce self. Sit down in the back. Bella was about to sit in the back when a girl smiled up at her.

"Do you want to sit?" The girl asked, gesturing to the empty seat beside her. Bella saw Alice and Jasper in the corner of her eye. Alice gave her a thumbs up.

"Sure." Bella said. She sat herself down and pulled out her notebook.

"I'm Angela." Bella nodded and the two talked quietly for the rest of the class.

The last bell of the day. echoed through the hallways. Bella walked out of her last class, with Edward at her side. They walked into the parking lot and got into the car.

"How was your first day of school?" Edward questioned as he pulled out of the parking lot.

"I made some friends and I didn't kill anybody, which is a great achievement for me." Edward chuckled and gripped Bella's hand in his own as they drove home.

Edward parked the car and Bella and Edward walked up the stairs to Edward's room. Bella placed her backpack on the floor and plopped herself on the bed.

"I've missed you," she said to the bed. Bella lifted her head to see Edward frozen in fear. "Edward?" Bella asked, sitting up.

Edward sniffed the air and walked around the room. "Someone was here," Edward said, gritting his teeth. "James was here. He was looking for you."

Bella had not heard what Edward had just said. She had her attention on something else. A piece of paper lay folded on her pillow. Bella picked up the paper, fingers trembling.

"Bella?" Edward asked, getting a bit worried. Bella's expression fell and her stomach flipped.

I'm coming for you, Little Swan.
