CHAPTER 20

Why Should Boys Have All The Fun..?

"So... We have to stay for 4 more days for you to fully recover... right?" Naruto said to Jiraiya who is sitting on the couch in the room provided for them in the Kazekage residence.

"Yeah..." Jiraiya said yawning. His chakra was back to 70%, but he wanted to be completely fit when they make their journey back home.

"Yesss...!" Naruto jumped with excitement pointing his fist to the sky.

"Eh..?" Jiraiya uttered in slight surprise.

"I can spend more time with Kankuro, Gaara & Temari and also take a tour around the Sand village..." Naruto replied jumping on his foot balls.

"Yeah... Yeah... Now let me take a nap... Go away..." Jiraiya said while getting comfortable on the coach and closed his eyes. Naruto let his godfather sleep and went to the dining room where Kankuro and others should be.

(Dining Room...)

"Hey sis... Have you seen Naruto this morning...?" Kankuro asked his elder sister who was sitting across from him in between munching a mouthful of cereal.

"You both seem to have become best friends..." Karura remarked with a smile from her place where she was preparing the breakfast on the kitchen counter.

"YESSSS..! That guy knows his stuff... He watches Pokémon, Dragon Ball-Z and he even knows Clint Eastwood movies....." Kankuro kept on ranting.

After 2 minutes when Kankuro still kept on going, Temari sighed. "Basically... Both are just idiots..." She said interrupting Kankuro.

"HEY..."

Karura ignored his indignant shout and replied to Temari, "Well... I'm sure you can become friends with Naruto too..."

"Yeah right... When these two idiots are at one place, its like they are in their own imaginary world where people who make animals fight for them exist..." Temari replied spinning a glass with her index finger lazily.

"Oh...? Is that longing for a boy's attention that I'm hearing in your voice...?" Karura asked with a smirk, in a teasing voice.

"Huh..?" Temari tilted her head with confusion on her face in a cute way. Kankuro got what his mother was saying and he was trying his best to control his laughter but was about to fail when suddenly someone made their presence known.

"Yo..." came Naruto's shout from the entrance to the kitchen cum dining room.

"Yo..." Kankuro shouted back.

"Good morning Naruto-kun..." Karura said.

Naruto approached Karura and hugged her at waist level and greeted back "Good Morning, Aunt Karura..."

Karura just smiled and ruffled Naruto's hair. Then she remembered the first time she met Naruto.

(Flash Back... The Evening When Naruto Defeated Temari...)

Karura was in the kitchen preparing some fruit juice for both Jiraiya and Rasa as they are still exhausted due to the sealing process. She just came back after checking the sealing room where she found Jiraiya on the couch, Rasa on the chair next to the bed and Gaara on the bed. All three of them were fast asleep, so she left them to take rest.

"I'm still surprised that you can talk to birds...!" came Temari's voice which made Karura to turn around. Sure enough there were Temari, Kankuro and one other kid who is almost the same age as Gaara. Karura guessed the boy was the heir of Senju clan whom her husband informed her about. Rasa told her that the boy will be staying with them along with Jiraiya until the time of their stay in the Sand village.

"Well..." Naruto started to say scratching his head with an awkward smile trying to think of an answer for Temari's question.

"Dude... You wanna play 'Pokémon' card game..?" Kankuro inquired interrupting Naruto's thought process.

"Yesss...!" Naruto replied in excitement and completely forgot about Temari's earlier question, which left Temari with a twitching eyebrow.

"Who plays with card games anyway...?" she said in irritation.

Naruto and Kankuro blinked their eyes and replied as one, "Kids..."

Karura was trying hard not to laugh at Temari's face, which was scrunched in confusion as she didn't understand what the boys are saying.

"Eh...?" was Temari's unintelligible reply.

"Kids play card games... And we all are kids..." Naruto replied as if that was a universal fact, which it was.

"Leave it dude... She is 8 years 'old'..." Kankuro drawled making sure to emphasize the word 'old' with air quotes.

"WHY YOU...?" Temari started to say raising her fist to face level and that fist had vein popping up. Karura decided to intervene and coughed, "Ahem... Welcome back home..."

All three Kids turned towards Karura. Temari and Kankuro did not have any reaction to seeing their mom in kitchen, but Naruto was shocked beyond belief when he saw Karura for the first time. He saw his birth mother Kushina's pictures from the various albums that his mother Tsunade had shown him. To him Karura looked almost exactly like Kushina except the hair and eye color. If Karura had long red hair & violet eyes instead of short brown hair & indigo colored eyes then Karura would almost look like Kushina. The resemblance was so much that Naruto almost thought it was Kushina.

"Hello Mam... I'm Naruto..." He greeted after he recovered from his shock.

"Hello Naruto... I'm Karura..." Karura replied with a gentle smile.

"Karura-san... I wanna ask something if that's ok..." Naruto asked politely.

"Go on... Naruto-kun..." Karura said.

"Karura-san... You look a lot like my birth mother Kushina Uzumaki... Do you know her...? Are you related to Uzumaki clan somehow..?" Naruto asked rather timidly.

Temari and Kankuro shared confused glances while Karura seemed like she was remembering something that happened a while ago. "Kushina... Huh...? Well I met her once or twice when me and Rasa visited Leaf village when Fourth Hokage was still alive..." She reminisced feeling remorseful. "Well we both do look a lot like each other, sort of... She also asked me the same question you asked, but honestly I don't know if I'm related to Uzumaki or not cause my mother was an orphan and I don't know anyone else from my mother side..." She replied.

"Oh..." Naruto said downtrodden.
