The shadows that covered the globe were worrisome before, now they had simply become terrifying. Evidently, Pitch had regained even more power than before, which was frightening for the five Guardians. A layer of darkness covered the whole planet, however, the lights of the children who believed in the Guardians and what they stood for, still glimmered as brightly as ever.

"Is this normal?" Jack Frost demanded of North.

"No," he answered, "It is most certainly NOT normal! Pitch shouldn't be able to do whatever it is he's doing right now!"

He turned to the open window, where the full moon shone in the pale Arctic light.

"What can we do, Manny?" North asked the Man in the Moon.

The moonlight shone through the window even brighter than before. It created a dark shadow in the shape of a starburst, a symbol that North knew all too well. Then the image reversed, so the starburst glowed with moonlight and the surrounding moonlight turned to shadows. Then the image faded away.

"What does that mean?" Jack asked the other Guardians, who all seemed more nervous somehow after seeing the image on the floor.

"It means that we have to team up with an old enemy," Bunnymund growled.

"Who?"

"They're called the Fallen," Tooth said, "And they're very dangerous."

The group walked to an old door that was chained shut with several large padlocks. On the door, was the same starburst-shaped symbol that they'd seen on the floor.

"Why are they so dangerous?" Jack demanded as the chains were unlocked.

"It's simple, really," North answered, "Once upon a time, they were Guardians."
