What's in a name?

He was someone else before....wasn't he?

He was certain that before he & his Brothers set forth to bring peace and order to the cosmos he had a name a life. That his people (those who were not his Brothers) had their own name. There was a society, a culture.

Wasn't there?

Of course there was! It's just that as he undertook his mission to unite a chaotic universe he had found less and less time to dedicate to preserving that culture.

He could easily rectify that mistake surely.

It was becoming a trend he noticed, among the various peoples he brought under his protection to forgo addressing his Brothers by a more traditional name or even a colloquial term (like "bat people) they were increasingly being referred to simply as a Horde of clones.

He couldn't entirely blame them he supposed, he had after all given up assigning them individual names a long time ago. What was the point after all when so many left him seemingly as soon as they arrived.

He couldn't grant them immortality, the risk of a rival was too great.

Furthermore he himself was increasingly being addressed not by any proper name what was his name or even a title such as leader but instead simply as the Primary Horde Clone. Which he could concede was technically accurate but....

He had a name! His people had a name!

What were they?

He would begin to remind his subjects of this as soon as he had finished his mission.

Every once in a while Horde Prime would be struck by the oddest memories. Of a nameless Geneticist trying to save his dying world. Of a people so familiar to him though he could never say why.

He occasionally wondered if they were somehow related to his initial beginning. If they could recall how he was assigned to bring peace and order to this fractured galaxy & lift its people from darkness and into the light.

Perhaps they did but did it truly matter?

Was it truly important how he had received this sacred, thankless mission?

No.

Prime is.

And anything that came before?

Utterly irrelevant.
