Chapter 28

Desmond's POV

The assassins and I get up from the table and start walking towards the door.

"Where are you guys going?" Lucy asks.

"You aren't doing something stupid, are you?" Shaun asks.

"Uh, no. We're going to enjoy our last day together," I say.

"WHAT DOES THIS CENTURY HAVE TO OFFER?!??!?!" Altaïr cheers. We all leave the house and the door slams behind us.

*TIME SKIP BECAUSE I'M EVIL*

We get back, laughing our heads off. We went to a movie, had ice cream (that was fun watching them discover) and some other random things.

"That was awesome! I wish we could stay here longer!" Ezio grins.

I grin. I wish that too.

Rebecca walks into the living room and looks at me, her face sad.

"Desmond..."

"Okay. Guys, go change into your assassin clothing," I say.

The assassins look sad, and I look at their 21st century clothing.

"Before you go change... keep the sweaters," I say. They look at their sweaters and grin.

"Alright, Des," Edward says.

The go change, and when they come back they look like they did when they first came here. They hold all of their weapons in their hands or attached to them in some way. All of their sweaters are tied around their waists, and I grin.

"How does that feel?" I ask.

"Amazing," Leonardo says, looking at his cape.

"Say your goodbyes, boys," Lucy says.

I go up to each of them in turn and hug them. They hug back, and I wish more and more that they weren't leaving.

They all hold hands, and Rebecca presses a button from the machine. They begin to disappear, and I smile sadly at them.

"Goodbye, my friends," I say.

And in an instant, they're gone. I continue looking at the spot where they disappeared, and I try to keep myself from crying.

They're gone.
