Chapter 14
Desmond's POV
The next day at school, we carefully watch Mr. Lin, watching for any strange behaviour. For the first half of the day, he's exactly like a normal math teacher.
It all changes at lunch.
"Desmond, he's looking at us weirdly again," Edward mutters.
"I know. Don't make eye contact with him," I reply.
"Can we assassinate him yet?" Altaïr asks impatiently.
"Not yet," I reply.
Ezio glances over his shoulder and quickly looks back at us.
"He's walking towards us!"
"Maybe he's just going to remind me to hand in my homework!" Connor says.
"You didn't do your homework again?" Edward asks.
"Yeah..."
"Sta'zitto! Nobody cares!" Ezio hushes us as Mr. Lin comes to our table.
"Can I see you all in my room please?" he asks, his tone pleasant.
"Uhh n-" Altaïr begins before I elbow him in the gut.
"Yes, we'll meet you in your room. When?" I say quickly. Altaïr gives me a look and I glare back at him.
"Right now. I'll meet you there," Mr. Lin says. He walks in the direction of his room and all the assassins look at me, confusion written on their faces.
"Why would we go talk to a templar?" Ezio demands.
"Guys, if we go talk to him alone, we can learn if he knows we're assassins or not and we can assassinate him if we need to without being seen by other kids," I explain.
"Fine, we'll go talk to him. But if we die, I blame Desmond," Altaïr says. The other assassins nod.
"Five highly trained assassins verses one templar? He stands no chance," I say.
We walk to his classroom and he opens the door for us.
"Welcome!" he says. We walk in and the door closes and locks. I get the feeling the other assassins noticed this as well.
"So, how did you get here? To America?" Mr. Lin asks.
"We're exchange students. We thought you were told that," Edward says.
"But you're American, Connor. Explain that," Mr. Lin says.
"I'm not from New York," Connor says simply.
"Boys, stop with the acting. I know what you are," Mr. Lin says.
"Humans? I thought that was pretty obvious," I say. Altaïr grins and covers his mouth quickly before he starts laughing.
"No! Assassins! I've known that for a while! It's not often that a Syrian, an Italian, a Brit and two Americans come together and know each other, is it?" Mr. Lin says. He sighs and looks at us.
"I have to get rid of assassins, as you probably know..." Mr. Lin grins and pushes a button on his phone. "You can come in now."
"What was that about?" Edward asks.
Mr. Lin chuckles and pulls out a sword from behind his desk.
"Did you really think I would fight five assassins on my own?"
Four other templars walk in, but they aren't teachers at the school. Probably just people Mr. Lin knows.
We all stand up from the desks where we're sitting and we all unsheathe our hidden blades (we made sure to have them after Altaïr found out he was a templar).
Then the fight begins. Edward, Ezio, Connor and I take on the four other templars while Altaïr takes on Mr. Lin.
The fight continues on and I manage to kill the templar I'm up against. I hear a groan and look over to where it came from. Ezio's arm is bleeding and the templar he's up against is about to kill him. I quickly run over and take him out with my blades.
"Are you okay?" I ask.
"I need a doctor..." Ezio says, his face pain stricken.
I look around. All the templars are dead except Mr. Lin, who Altaïr finishes off.
"Ezio is injured. We need to get out of here," I say.
"Agreed," Connor says.
We all leave the school and get into my car. Ezio is holding his arm the entire time we drive back to the office.
This has been an eventful day.
A/N: This is the longest chapter I've written in a while! Oh, and I'd like to tell you that I've started another assassins creed book called Freedom's Blade, so go check it out on my page!
