Time soon resumed its duty with the tempestuous atmosphere clearing up to reveal cerulean clouds etched into the vast sky. Ferried all around the amphitheatre by the gentle wind current was a confetti of disintegrated galvanic energy emanating from the now defunct forcefield. One of such electric confetti descended, slowly, into the awaiting palms of Rae whose rage and desire for revenge cleared from his dark, unseeing eyes.
By now the static illusion of the enchantress had faded into oblivion and all that was left was the frenzied aftermath of the havoc that he had caused. Broken blocks of concrete and deep depressions within the landscape lined his vision as far out as he could see. The awakened shivers and hesitant shuffle of feet treaded nervously about his sharpened senses to disturb his astonished observations.
Looking about him, he noticed the frightened stances of the many bruised individuals in the arena. Most of them avoided his gaze and backed away, slowly, while offering a silent prayer to the Sky Lordians that he did not notice their coward retreat of survival. Others froze in their crouched positions, hoping that he took them for dead and looked to other prey to destroy.
This wolf, whoever or whatever he was, was a monster to be fearful and wary of.
"What have I done?" Rae whispered, overwhelmed with guilt and regret. They all looked at him just the way he had regarded them all his life. They were monsters who did despicable things. Only now it seemed he was a bigger monster than they were.
"Yil,"
Yet again, another sensation disrupted his thoughts and drew his attention to Aryn who was frantically trying to revive Yil who was nestled within his arms.
"Yil, wake up please. Say something," Aryn tried again, shaking the she-wolf whose muscles had gone limp. "Come on, don't leave me like this," he choked out, putting a hand to her neck to feel for a pulse.
Even the slightest beat would do but none was forthcoming. He looked around him frantically, mind linking every pack doctor who had stayed back at the medical centre: "I need urgent medical attention at the amphitheatre. It's a dire situation and I expect all hands to be on deck,"
Not waiting for a response, his attention turned back to Yil whose lips had now turned blue. Her hands were frozen to the touch and placing it within his palms, he sought to warm it up with haphazard motions of friction.
"No, no, no..." Rae chanted, breathing rapidly as he advanced, hurriedly, towards Yil with a heavy heart. He could feel her wolfs'-Ava-essence slowly but surely dying out. However, before he could touch her, Aryn went on high alert and shoved him backwards with a clawed fist.
"Stay back, you monster," he snarled, hugging Yil closely to himself and gaining the strength to rise up with one arm under her legs and the other supporting her back. "Don't act like you care now when she's dying because of you," he raved, breathing heavily.
"I would never hurt her," Rae refuted, refusing to believe that he was the one behind her current state. He couldn't have or could he? "I would never..." he trailed off as he felt the life continuously ebb away from the she-wolf he had loved all his life. His grip on reality was slipping, rapidly, as he tried hard to recall the lost memory of his earlier rampage.
"Princess!!" Kibas' roar permeated the nerve-wrecking atmosphere between the two wolves as he ran towards Yil and placed a hand on her forehead despite Aryns' stony glare. "S-she's t-turning," he stammered just as Yils' body started to writhe.
As if on cue, his eyes sought out the sparkly encasement of the one object meant to regulate the vigorous tussle of power within her and finding her wrist devoid of its essence, he broke out in a cold sweat.
Oh this was bad, this was really really bad.
Quickly, Kiba absorbed Yils' agony onto himself and the sheer force of the sinister energy was enough to make him retract his fingers as if burned. Catching his failing breath, he panted, "We need to get her somewhere warm and back to our Measer before it is too late," he urged without further explanations to Aryn who could do no more but reluctantly trust the intuition of the white-wolf who'd be well versed than he was in matters concerning their race.
Wasting no time, Aryn made for the pack house in the companion of the pack doctors who met him halfway on their journey to the amphitheatre.
"I'd advise that you disappear from this place just as fast as you appeared," Kiba voiced, solemnly, with his back to Rae whom he sensed wanted to follow Aryn to where Yil would be housed. "There's no need pursing this ill-fated union anymore than you already have and you know that," he grunted, grasping the arms of his pack member who walked past him and pulling his body towards himself. "For your safety, she has given unto you something worth her life..." he shouted, snatching Raes' wrist up and shaking it to release the jingling sounds of the crystals.
Finally, he snared the white-wolfs' attention as Raes' eyes widened at the revelation. "...and so every second counts now and you remaining in this pack isn't going to help matters," he rushed out with urgency. "I'm trusting that you understand what it is I'm trying to convey and I hope you hearken to my words," he added, letting go of Raes' wrist and sighing. "Stop this destructive cycle now,"
With those last solemn words, Kiba shifted into wolf form and bounded, hurriedly, after Yils' diminishing scent.
The world seemed to whirl around Rae as he brought the jeweled bracelet closer to his face and clutched his heart with the other palm. The sheen of the crystals had begun to die out, slowly, with only the scarlet gemstone burning with an irate shade. It was all his fault. In the end he had been the one to hurt her.
"I'm so, so sorry," he whispered, backing away from the consequences of his actions. "I really am," he cried, disappearing just as he had been instructed with the howling wind.
