Meet the Wheeler's! Or, some of 'em, atleast...
I was sitting in me and my brother's room. It was run down and completely trashed on account of our fathers drinking problem, but I loved our room.
It had 2 windows, a bathroom, a small closet, and 2 mattresses lined up beside each other for us to sleep. That's all I really needed.
The smell of liquor and defeat doesn't really bother me, anymore.
Anyway, I was sitting in my room, on my side of the bed. I was minding my own business when someone tapped me on the shoulder.
I turned around, hoping not to see my drunk father. My prayers were answered. I looked behind me to see that my brother was home from his job at Burger World. He was covered in fry trap grease and mustard.
I grabbed him in a hug, ignoring the gunk on his already disgusting uniform. "Hey, Joey! How was work?"
"Pfft! A nightmare, as always! Why can't kids learn ta eat without makin' a mess?!"
I chuckled. "Joey, have you seen yourself eat? 'Cause, that's what you just described."
Joey rolled his eyes. "Very funny, Riley." Joey took off the greasy apron and started rinsing out his hair in the sink that looked like it's seen better days.(The sink, not the hair. But, the hair was a mess, too.) "Oh! By da way, ya boyfriend came by today with Mokuba. He wants you to go ova to his house for movie night." He pretended to twirl a piece of none-existent long hair just below his bangs. "OoooOOOOooooh."
I rolled my eyes. "Shut up, Joseph. Seto and I aren't a couple. We're just friends."
My brother smirked. "Thankfully. 'Cause if ya was datin' dat jerk, I'd 'ave chased 'im halfway ta Mexico by now."
I grabbed a clean shirt from the closest as Joey left the bathroom and I went to go change.
Joey raised an eyebrow, still smirking. "Oh looky 'ere. Ya tryin' ta look nice for ya boyfriend, I see."
I put my hand on my hip.
To be perfectly honest, I don't have a crush on Seto. He's my best friend and I would never jeopardize that.
"Joey, if you must know, I'm changing 'cause I got gunk on my shirt when I hugged you." I motioned toward the shirt that I was wearing. "And, for your information, I'm changing into one of your old shirts. Trust me, you don't dress all that fancy."
I closed the bathroom door and changed into the shirt.
When I was done changing, I walked back into my room, gave my brother a quick hug(careful not to get my shirt dirty, this time), and left to go see Seto.
I was careful not to wake my dad, mid-hangover as I snuck out the back door.
