Chapter Seventeen

Devin and I haven't really spoken much after the entire thing with Ms. Walter, mainly because of her. But now we're on the bus home. It's been overcast all day and now fat raindrops are falling from the sky. We've been driving for a little while, maybe a couple of hours. It's 6:00.

Ms. Walter tells the bus driver to pull over and then she says, "If I could have your attention, we're going to have to stay at a motel because there is a flash flood warning. And that means that we cannot continue to drive. So we'll be staying at a motel until the storm clears up."

The bus pulls back onto the road and then drives a couple of miles to a motel. Ms. Walter walks off the bus and then comes back on it a couple of minutes later. "Okay so, they only have eight rooms that are available. Four of the big rooms will have four people in them, two of the smaller rooms will have two people in them and then I get one small room and Larry, the bus driver, will get one small room. Any questions?" Ms. Walter explains. No one says anything. "Grab your bags and once we're in the motel I'll assign rooms," she says. We walk off the bus.

"Well, this kinda sucks," Devin says quietly. I nod.

"Okay, you four are in room one, you four are in room two, you four are in room there and you four are in room four. Any questions? You two are in room five. And Riley and Devin are in room six," Ms. Walter says. I grin and bump my shoulder into Devin's.

"What? Why do they get to share a room and I have to share a room with him?" a kid from my math class asks.

"Have you met Riley and Devin? You really think they're going to be getting it on?" she asks the kid. I smirk at Devin.

"Yeah, I guess not," he says. Ms. Walter hands out keys.

"Okay, don't come out of your rooms unless I tell you to. And don't ask me any questions," she says. I take the key from her hand and walk to our room. "Devin, you sleep on the floor!" she yells as she walks into her room. I laugh and flop down on the bed.

"I hope the floor's comfortable," I tell Devin as I throw a pillow at him.

"Guess I won't know," Devin says. He falls onto to the bed. I get up and turn on the TV. "Oh, lucky us! We got shitty cable!" he says.

"You really are an asshole," I say. I pull out a book from one of my bags and start to read. I finish the book and put it back in my bag. I turn off the light and crawl into bed. "I'm going to bed," I tell Devin.

"You do realize that it's not even nine o'clock, right?" he says.

"Shut up!" I say. I bury my face into a pillow.

"Okay, night," Devin says. He wraps his arms around my waist and buries his face in my neck. The storm sounds pretty bad. There's lots of lighting and thunder. I always found rainstorms soothing so it's not a surprise that I fall asleep quickly.

I wake up a couple of hours later. Devin's head is burrowed in my stomach. He's passed out pretty hard. I smile and gently stroke his hair as I watch the storm. After an hour I get bored and wake him up. "What...what are you doing? It's four in the morning," he says.

"Get your lazyass up! We're gonna play truth or dare," I tell him.

"Babes, you wanna know what I think?" Devin asks me.

"Mmm, let me think about that. No, no I do not want to know what you think," I say.

"I think that you must have been dropped on your head as a baby. Because it's four in the goddamn morning and we're in a shitty motel and you want to play truth or dare," Devin says.

"Kay, thank you for that but now go and turn the light on." He mutters something and then gets up. I smirk and climb onto the floor. "Truth or dare?" I ask him.

"Truth."

"Um...oh! Why'd you and Caroline break up?" I ask him. He puts his hand over his face and then groans.

"We broke up because she thought I liked someone else," he says.

"Who was it?" I ask him.

"Nuh-unh! You don't get to ask another question," Devin says. I roll my eyes. "Truth or dare?"

"Dare."

"I dare you toooo...lick my stomach," Devin says.

"Jesus fuck Devin, do you know how fucking juvenile that is?" I ask him. He shrugs.

"If you wanna lose your chicken pass then that's okay but...you only have three," he says arrogantly.

"Lose the shirt and watch and learn," I tell him. He takes off his shirt. Devin has a very, very muscular build. He lays down on the ground and I climb onto him. My thighs are on either side of his. I roll my eyes and bend down towards his stomach. "So am I supposed to lick you for a certain time? Like ten seconds?" I ask him, my face hovering over his stomach.

"Fifteen seconds," he says. I shrug. "Last chance for the chicken pass," he tells me.

"Never gonna happen," I tell him. He shrugs. I bend down closer and my mouth is pressed against his hard stomach. He takes in a startled breath. My tongue touches his skin and he breathes harder. 1, 2, 3...I slowly slide my tongue across his stomach, starting by his hips and going up to his chest. 9, 10, 11...Every second feels like five. 14, 15. I pull back. "Your turn, truth or dare?" I say. He shakes his head.

"Dare." I grin evilly at him.

"I dare you to wear one of my bras," I say. He turns red. "You gonna use a chicken? Come on, it's just a bra," I say.

"Okay," he says quietly. I get up and dig through my bag. I find a lacy green push up one. I only bought it because of the color. "Oh, no! No, no! I'm not wearing that!" he says. I imitate a chicken. "Fine! Bring it on," he says. I help him put the bra on. I bite back my laughter.

"You look very, um pretty. That green's really your color," I tell him. He glares at me.

"Truth or dare?" he asks me.

"Dare," I tell him.

"I dare you to sing along and dance to a Justin Bieber song," Devin says.

"You know what? I'm gonna use a chicken pass," I say. He opens his mouth to say some snide comment but I say, "You're the one wearing a lacy push up bra. You can't give me any shit."

"Fair enough. I pick truth," he says.

"You said that you and Caroline broke up because she thought that you liked someone else, who'd she think that you liked?" I ask him.

"You," he says quietly. I laugh.

"That's crazy! Why would she think that?" I say.

"I'm not a chick, why would I know?" Devin and. I shrug. "Truth or dare?" he asks me.

"Truth," I say.

"Why are you with Alex?" Devin days.

"Excuse me?" I say before I can say anything else. What kind of a question is that?

"Why are you dating Alex?" Devin repeats. I roll my eyes.

"Because I like him." I don't think I could have given a more vague answer.

"Come on Riley," he says. He never calls me Riley.

"I gave you an answer, now truth or dare?" I say.

"Dare."
